The Tommy Edison Experience you must have one the purest souls possible on this planet *seeing 😂 as you probably can't entirely grasp the concept of race. A concept that deeply divides us
The Tommy Edison Experience It would be a cool but also risky to play with the concept of not seeing race. It wouldn't be relevant then now given our current social and political climate.
I like to close my eyes while doing some stuff like showering or making food or coffee I dont need to sharpen my senses considering they are already sharp enough to make me break down but it's just something fun
I think experienced blind people utilize the sense of touch along with memory. In the find the lost objects challenge, Tommy approached it by touching the entire surface area of the furniture, compared to Elijah who started out spending his time touching the edges, wasting time before touching the center and realizing it’s a chair. Again, Tommy relies on feeling stuff his whole life. And as a sighted person, I don’t think we rely on the sense of touch.
Pretty much anything competitive becomes interesting to me, if there is a sense of urgency involved. So it doesn't include golf or darts xP. Lol. Marble Races on YT is interesting though!
That's not how it works. You connect it to grey because the static is grey. A born blind person can't imagine colors at all, just how people with vision can't imagine a new color without using a primary or secondary color. Try it, try to imagine a color without any hint of any existing color, just a totally new color. You can't its impossible to.
I think OP means that static is like grey, because grey is like a non-colour. It's boring, it's stale, it has no "character". It's impossible for someone who doesn't know what colour is to imagine it, so the best one can do is try to equate the "nature" of the colour to a sound or a sensation. Like if you were to try to explain transparent, it could be to have them imagine that they CAN feel SOMETHING and they know it's there, but they're still able to pass through it as though it wasn't.
i cant help myself but to laugh along when Tommy laughs - he really gives alot of positive energy. Keep it up, love the videos! greetings from austria vienna
Wow, it's amazing how well a blind individual sense of touch and feel is increased. You blew him away Tommy, and I noticed how much more precise you were when you try to scan the area for objects just by feeling around your surroundings. I guess people who depend on their vison just don't care too much to try even with their eyes close (like me)...
Hey thommy! I know, my question will be strange and weird...How can you imagine things tridimiensionally in your head if you had never experienced the sensation of seeing them in real life?(you sad that in a previous video) Can you really "see" things in your head? Like, imagine them...and whatching them in your head...do you know what i mean??
I'm not sure about American currency, but quite a few other bills have "topography" in order for blind people to be able to feel the bill and determine which one it is. Also, Euro bills, for example, are different sizes.
Wow this channel is something else. I love it. I know 1 fully blind person. His name is Brian Lee and he is Leon Russels former keyboard player. I went to his house once and he said "let me show you something on the computer" I was very confused he starts moving a mouse and sure enough something starts talking. This was very surreal since there was no monitor that I could see and the voice coming from the speakers was too fast for me to comprehend but he navigated it just fine and played me his newest weather channel song. He also makes music for the weather channel. Pretty awesome. I am for sure subbing and can't wait to see more.
More of these please!! this was so neat to watch! creative ideas of what would be challenging for a sighted person too. Ideas for another episode of side by side: mowing a small yard, finding matching shoes, find a restroom in a restaurant without asking, tasting smoothies, loading dishwasher, and making a bed looking nice and fastest.
As a legally blind person, I noticed one of the most important things the boind dude was doing when searching for items was feeling the floor and waving his hands across as much of the floors surface as he could. Whenever we drop something, it can sometimes be a major pain in the ass. But skirting your hands along the floors surface in patterns is typically a good thing to do in order to find something. Sounds obvious but a lot of people dont think about that, it's why chris couldnt find the 20 bucks in a better time
Tommy, I've been watching your videos non-stop for the last week since I found your channel. You are my favorite RUclipsr! I love your videos. This one was really fun, I love your energy!
As someone who has macular degeneration I've prepared for going blind from as long as I learned about it a few years ago. I could functionally live in my home without my eyes if by some chance I lost my sight early
I'm intersted to know what you do in your spare time. Sighted people might play a video game, do sport, or watch your videoes, but you can't really do any of that. I imagine music is a big one (on that note what's your favourite?)
I'm seeing a loooot of music stuff. Until he answers (if he hasn't already), I'm assuming music, audiobooks, & listening to movies? He is a self-proclaimed film critique after all. Jeez, I wonder what the blind did before technology.
Blindfold someone and have them try to do simple tasks on a computer using it the way you do with the robot voice guiding them. Things like ordering something from amazon or downloading a song.
This collab is crazy i came across tommy by accident and i used to binge watch chris when i was younger and to think they done a video together blows my mind
I discovered this channel 3 days ago and I think I have watched everything there was on it. The first youtuber ever that I genuinely love. Too bad there is no more content for me :(
I love how Tommy kept track of the item by keeping it in his hand or closest to him while Chris used spatial awareness (in a sense) to place different socks in different places to refer back to them. Coming together with things Tommy has said in other videos regarding his spatial awareness makes this just such an interesting thing to perceive for me.
Not only do I appreciate the candidness and humour you bring to exposing the "blind" experience, this particular segment foments appreciation for developing all senses to their nth degree. I think everyone might benefit from sensory deprivation experiences such as this in order to better attune as there is an over-reliance, I feel, on visual and auditory, at the expense, quite often, of the others. Thank you for revealing your experience. I do have a question, however. You are musically inclined and, I wonder, A) what instrument appeals to tou most and B) how might a blind guitarist negotiate finger tip callus re: sensing detail, braille? Thanks!
If this was a game show I would watch it all the time. Sometimes I wonder if we should all take one day a year where we intentionally do something like walk around blindfolded, or don't use our legs, at all, or something like that, to help us better understand what other people are going through.
Darn, if that was me I would TOTALLY forget he was blind by the end and go for a handshake when he says "thanks for coming on!" I think I would just not say anything and put my hand over my lips so Ben knows to keep quiet
Tommy!! I saw you on Tosh! It's one of my favorite shows, and I have a super mega crush on Daniel Tosh. I got to see him live in Tampa a few years ago. I'm so jealous you got to meet him. That was one bright ass orange suit you had on. Happy Friday!
Tommy I have many questions for you (If 3 are many) 1. Are you married? 2. If yes? Do you have any kids and how was it raising them compared to what people tell ya? 3. Are the shake-y hand are an old age thing or are they from the beginning?
These videos are great- very eye opening and educational for people that have never imagined how hard or what it is even like to be blind, and on the other hand it shows other blind people who might be struggling that you get better and better at doing daily things and might give them hope. Much appreciation Tommy. Hope you see my comment!
This was great to watch, but one thing I noticed is that Tommy had a much smarter approach to the finding and pairing challenges, which definitely showed in the end
these videos are really informative! i am trying to develop a character that is born blind and your videos really help me getting a feel of how he would experience the world! i think i'm doing well so far
You sir are a very inspirational person. I constantly see your videos and in every one you always surprise me. Let me tell you sir that you are absolutely wondeful. You are one strong person who without much work make thousands of people have faith, keep battling our good fights & to continue carrying our cross, as heavy and hard as it is it's really just a blessing to be here. Whether some are available to take part on some activities, & some aren't we are one race. We are the human race, who breath, who feel, who think & who love. I really hope you get to this comment. You sure a spark pf light in this dark world. God bless you sir. Much love from Texas

Tommy i just watched your colour video and the best way to describe the colour grey is to listen to tv static
Ma-Adjoa Akwah that's a very good description of gray i like it
Ma-Adjoa Akwah yeah it is a good description but you should probably put it on that video
is it? don't you connect the sound of tv static to grey because there is grey on the tv during the static ?
That's not how it works. You connect it to grey because the static is grey. Been years since I saw this channel. Popped up in my recommended and I got super excited. I love this guy's energy. So genuine.
Watching Tommy's videos eliminated my fear that I may go blind someday
Tommy are you able to use cash or do you only use a card because you can't see how much each bill is worth?
sorry but i think tommy isnt going to be able to answer your question
why is that?
I'm not sure about American currency, but quite a few other bills have "topography" in order for blind people to be able to feel the bill and determine which one it is. Also, Euro bills, for example, are different sizes.
He uses a phone app and sorts them in order from low > high i believe
In canada we have dots that tell you the amount that the bill is worth
