I've been sewing garments for a while (learned as a child and picked it back up as an adult a few years ago.) This is a great video and I've learned a few new things. Thank you!
I'm just starting (3 days old)to sew, I have always wanted to sew and my sweet husband brought me a sewing machine for my birthday. This video is very helpful.
Love, love love this video ❤❤❤ I am just learning how to sew using patterns. It is very confusing trying to understand the symbols and terminology used on patterns. Your video is the first I have found that really explains all the parts of the patterns. Thank you very much.
I tend to get heavily overwhelmed with patterning. I’m actually started making my own very simple patterns, like heart plushies, following some of the pattern rules just to start learning before a project I have to start asap. I have to make an overcoat in about 8 days now and juggle work. I’m really scared at this point tbh that I won’t finish in time with my limited knowledge or my sewing machine, and with other projects I’m juggling..😬 Thank you so much for this video! Was very needed atm
Very good video !! Very well explained. I wonder if you can do a video, of troussers pattern and how to cut it, how to do the troussers how to join them etc. To explain it the best of your ability. PLEASE Beforehand thank you
I want to be a pierrot for halloween this year, but I couldn't find any costumes I liked. I did, however, find a 1920s pattern that I really like but I dont know where to start. Thank you for this video
Hi can u help me. I got a simplicity pattern 1021a.. the pajamas pant I want to make show the layout and there are a couple of layout for the pants, shirts, robs.then on the side of pattern it says with nap. The front pant pattern shows dark and the back shows white when laying. It am not using no fabric with nap. But I don’t know how to place the pant pattern on the fabric. So does it matter which way I lay it out?
Ok. So I am hearing you but I am still confused. I have a machine and my sister bought me an easy newlook pattern of skirts and blouses. I spreader them out before the LORD as I have no idea what to do. I hear what you are saying but I am as confused as ever.
Hi thanks for getting back to me. its maybe because my english not really good and Im still not getting used to clothing sewing, so yeahh will deffinetly watch your video again! so helpfull
Hi. Love your videos. I’m finding some patterns expensive. Is it crazy if I trace pieces on another paper , with tracing wheel, of the size I want for my project? I would like keep my options open- just in case I need another size of clothing. Does anyone do it? Any tips?
I know. I'm sitting here with my pattern. Never sewn in my life. I've never heard some of these words and phrases before. I think people don't know what a true beginner is.
No one speaks about the body measurements on the back of the pattern, the flap of the pattern or the actual pattern tissue paper and how to make since of it. I guess I'll call the company and ask them
I want to use all sizes in my pattern but I have to cut out for making one size, how do I keep my pattern for using all the sizes? Do I make the other sizes by tracing to other papers? Sorry if I confuse you. tia
diana Var Hi! I am the same way! Definitely want to keep all the sizes. You can either trace the pattern size on to paper or use carbon paper and a tracing wheel to transfer the lines on your pattern to muslin. You can also go to Kinkos and have the whole pattern copied.
Thank you so much Girl! I think I'll go the kinkos route b/c my writing is horrible and lines ^_^. Keep the videos going for serging please b/c they are not a touch of a button like sewing ;).
Very clearly explained. There’s a lot to take in but this was very helpful. I have not quite understood how to cut out the pattern. Do I cut out the different pieces or carbon copy them on tissue and then cut that out?
My raptor pattern from a super small designer was a 10 out of 10 ,. My simplicity was anything but,. 3 out of 10 works but only after you've made a costly mistake,. And does poor to explain and very time consuming ad it won't use the pieces number as part of the instructions and you get 2 pages and it should probably have 2 more pages but hey they saved you a dollar
You say a bunch of words that beginners wouldn’t know and then you don’t define them. Which is fine, but it doesn’t make the video very beginner friendly like the title implies.
This is stupid. All of it. There are way too many steps before you even get started sewing to enjoy clothes making. I was starting to get upset at the, "iron your pattern tissue paper before cutting out fabric," part. I did all of the steps first, only to find out I didn't have enough fabric for what they recommended on the envelope. After a week of the frustration of getting the supplies, learning about the fabric, learning how to use the sewing machine, learning about types of stitches, how to "properly" layout your fabric, all the terminology, the interface, the lining, the notions, which of the millions of patterns will work with my skill level, what cut 2 means, etc. and crying, my body getting stiff and finally, getting into a car accident driving from Joann's should have been my first clue. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. Also: why don't patterns show the model's size, or height on the envelope? Won't that help the buyer get some type of size idea for themselves?

It is included in the pattern.
