I saw Pantera and actually they showed up at a bar and it was my birthday and I got to party with them and they all signed autographs for me and Dimes was the coolest he wrote happy birthday 1 time MF…. Fast forward to Hellyeah days I saw them several wand at each show they came out other venue to fans waiting and took pictures and signed autographs and I was lucky enough to catch Vinnie Paul’s last drumstick he threw out to the crowd in Kentucky and I still have my autographs, the guitar pick that Dime personally gave me and the drumstick that I caught from Vinnie…. Hands down they were class acts metal heads and they loved their fans.

A lot of people on here, commenting that this was a Pantera tour. I have seen Pantera twice, the real Pantera, in 1997, and again in 2001 both times Phil was a raging lunatic on stage, demanding perfection from the crowd, as well as drug induced shit talking of things that I will not repeat here. I also saw Pantera at a “reunion “show” and I will say this much, it was the best I have ever heard Phil‘s voice, and the best live show. I have seen him perform of the three. Sobriety is a good thing, and in the end, this was not Phil and Rex trying to be Pantera, but it was a tribute to the past, and a tribute to the band. Every song was played as it was on the albums, with very little live ad Lib. It was very very fitting. And I think a lot of people get it wrong when they call this a tour, but it is a tribute to the band and its legacy. I choose no sides in what happened, because I have no dog in the fight other than I was a fan. I had my opinions of Phil, but I liked the music. The reunion, for lack of a better term, is pretty much just a tribute to the bands, former glory and should be treated as in my opinion.
But as far as the shit talking in the press? I have a guitar world magazine, where dime was talking shit on Pat, and that he was a terrible singer, and at least Phil could “make him money.”

there is more stuff and happening behind the scenes that some of that all 4 band members took/will take with themselves to the grave. Vinnie used to be a major asshole sometimes, rex too, alcohol plagued the Abbott brothers till the end,and loss of his brother drove VP even more to booze. ofc not mentioning phils addiction and a boiling point happening when he overdosed on heroin on their homecoming. Rex was also a major snowplower when it came to drugs. All these fans screaming about how they spoke to vp/rex/phil(not going to add dime here because he is a saint confirmed) backstage for 15 minutes for all of them being so humane and laid back, but we don't see the everyday thing. The remaining abbotts and phil recalled that rex's book is abt 50% bullshit with him speaking down everyone else in the band except himself, but in the gibson interview i guess he got a little closer to the turht about everyones behavior during the downfall of pantera. If you really start to dig down into the subject as i did one night, you will find alot more info about the band. After all it was and severely mentally deranged person (his mom bought him a gun for his birthday wtf) finished the unraveling of pantera because he thought they stole HIS music.
      - i realized, holy shit thats alot of text xD Well anyways i hope more people who think a single invidual is at fault for the events that took place in the final years of pantera will see this. It just bugs me that there is so much diversion in opinions of who is at fault when it is clear as day that it was one schizophrenic piece of shit who was the final nail to the coffin. all of those guys had their own difficulties. But yeah quoting phil when he said something along the lines of "there is what he said and what he said, the truth is somewhere in the middle."

People kinda forget the Abbott brothers weren’t exactly angels during the success of Pantera. A big part of why Phil and Rex broke off and did Down together was they were tired of the constant micro managing the Abbots did. Pantera was maybe started by then Abbots but they alone didn’t contribute to the success of the band. Without Rex and Phil it wasn’t gonna work. I think a lot of the bad blood was started when they saw the success of Down with Rex and Phil. Nothing could be bigger to Pantera for them. Rex and Phil went on good side bands and projects and the Abbots did not. It’s not about picking a side it’s about being objective. Go back and look at interviews in 96 on. Pantera was not a band that was gonna survive too many more years. Nobody just didn’t wanna say no to the money.

A big reason we need to face our own demons and hold ourselves accountable when we first recognize them. Otherwise by pushing them down on the inside we keep them alive, and they will grow and feed on things that do not belong to them until the day you face true struggles, it will come up from the depths and lay claim to all damages as it becomes you and shoves you down into the deep inside where it was in hiding just barely alive.
