You showed the tap from Malvern but not the pheasant from GWL!! 😂 I think shallots can be harvested right into autumn but if they're the size you want then go for it. Love that Duncan just rolls up and digs an enormous trench 😂
I assumed as they were lying flat over they were done now? Whoops! They’d been in since November. Hopefully the brassicas will grow around the other ones I’ve got planted. Oh the pheasant.. he’ll appear in the next video. 😂🫣 Duncan’s inner child comes out when he gets to play on the digger
Great update Clare, lovely tap, your new one's not bad either 😉 Those peas are looking great and the sunflowers are lovely. Enjoy your gallivanting in the next couple of weeks 😊
Love broad beans! Great harvest! The French beans look good great! Nothing wrong in buying some seedlings, they are such a great backup. So brilliant that Duncan can install your own taps! It makes absolute sense to have a tap each! I love the birdie tap! Great choice! The picnic table is a brilliant addition! Have a great time in the next couple of weeks! 😘💕🌸
Thanks Nanou. I love the tap too. I have a soft spot for “Jenny Wrens” so a wren tap seemed a natural choice. Of course, now i have planted the starts from the nursery, I now have my own sown seedlings that I’ve no space for.. isn’t that the way? 😂😂 We need some nice weather so we can enjoy the bench more. Praying it picks up. Hope you are doing ok xx
Very cute tap 😍. Definitely a busy time at the mo with so much to do and trying to get space made for new plantings etc. theme there's weeding and watering which ends up taking priority so other things slip 🫣😆. So nice having that place to sit down use for BBQs etc that a bench/table provides, a cover is definitely a good idea as mine is a right state already with having pots on and potting things up etc. Sunflowers are really beautiful 😍🌻
As a Lewis fan I cried… a lot! So exciting and also quite tense at the end. Amazing weekend, seeing them all up close on the stage too. Just wow. Third year in a row for my daughter and I but I used to go with Duncan for many years until 2018
Wow I love your metal hoop frames; have only seen plastic in my area. Love your husband's skills with the digger & making another spigot. Love those shallots. Okay, I may try that next year. Well I'm 6b so not sure when and how to grow them yet-but you inspired me. Thanks, take care.
Ohh i wondered when the tap would make an appearance! How lovely! I wish id got one now! dohhh! I will check out the website! Or wait for malvern in september haha! Lovely update Clare. Danny
Definitely cheaper at Malvern, if you can wait that long 😅😂 You wait until you see what came from Gardener’s World Live. I can’t resist shiny treasures 😂😂
Ooo Goodwood is just 30mins from where I live, I don’t go but I do enjoy seeing all the fancy cars driving to and from there ….near Goodwood racecourse there’s a walk known as The Trundel …which involves walking up a hill but not too far is a field full of poppies …a beautiful sea of red (I have not been there this year yet) . Have a great time!
OMG I love that tap. If I had my own tap at the allotment I’d definitely buy one. My granddaughters name is Amelia Wren and I get loads of wrens at the allotment. I planted the same shallots so it’ll be interesting to see if mine do anything like yours.
Good morning Clare! Lot looking lovely as always. Nice harvest and the tap too. Duncan looked to have control in the mini digger. I find them harder to operate than larger excavators. I've got some sunflowers from bird seeds in front of our building. "Our" as in I rent a flat in a house, and I just took the liberty to try to make it look a bit nicer than just weeds. They look sad after several rounds of torrential rain and the June hail storm, but buds are forming, and I've tied them up so there is still hope. Enjoy the Grand Prix and the festival next weekend!
Sunflowers need so much help to withstand weather don’t they? Thankfully ours are all tied in so no broken ones yet 🙏🏻 How lovely that you brighten up the space around you. I’m sure everyone appreciates that. Duncan’s pretty good with the mini digger. He only bought it 2 years ago to clean out the feeding troughs in the cowsheds but it’s come in handy for all many of jobs since. I love that tap. Totally un-necessary but too cute not to get it. Thank you for the lovely comments ❤️
I love the wren tap ❤ Shallots look good Clare. Might pop mine out tomorrow but they'll probably have maggots on as you know 🙄 Lovely little update. Good luck with the brassicas 💚🌱
It is a busy time in the garden. I'm kinda of funny in that I don't really like the preserving part as much as the growing....but it's why we do it. I kinda have to prod myself into it...I'd rather weed or poke in more seeds.
Have given up on freezing surplus vegetables, only freeze corn and tomatoes, did diced onionsthis year due to them going to seed. Mainly due my successful succession sowing of vegetables, middle of winter here in New Zealand have carrots, parsnips, pumpkins, cabbage, spinach, chard, broccoli, yams, onions, garlic,
That’s brilliant. Well done on keeping on top of the succession sowing. Can you grow pumpkins throughout winter there? How low do your temperatures get?
Your shallots look great! Mine in one place barely grew, and the other they just grew like HUGE red onions. So much so that i thought I'd made a mistake with the sets, but not one lifted them, a few of them did try to spilt into shallots... My broccolini went straight from tiny, to flowering while still tiny :-( but they did sit in small pots for far too long - hoping they'd get bigger and more slug proof. My brassicas are still really tiny but have trailef huge roots out of the bottom of the modules... Not enough water? Don't know. Oh well. I can only try..
Oh that’s really strange. Some of mine have only split in to 2-3 small ones but they did all split well. None grew a giant onion though. I wonder what the cause of that could be. I’ll be googling that when home. Internet not so great here. Very intermittent at the racetrack. I did similar with things I left in smaller pots too. I guess it’s a sign of stress. We live and learn.
To be honest it’s July and everything needs work all t once. It’s go go time, filming, editing, watching, growing, harvesting 🤪🤪🤪. Sir Duncan of the Shorts your a star ⭐️, I have a half dug trench for my outside tap 😂😂, yes half done. We have to shut off all the outside taps in Nov for months as they freeze up. You have done a fab and the bench is a great addition. Have a super day guys, Ali 🌞🥵🫠🇨🇦 Ps omg it’s the fabled sister 😂😂
Duncan is available for hire 😂😂😂 We turn our taps off over winter. I have to rely on the water trough to not run out then. If it’s mild for a week or so, he’ll turn them back on to fill the trough up. It’s all go, go, go. I was really caught out with how quickly the peas ended. Didn’t expect them to be such a quick crop to finish. Hope the weather is behaving for you. The mystery sister and niece were revealed 😀
Fabulous update Clare ❤ Absolutely love your bird tap, your husband is dab hand with that digger. Everything is going well.👍 Bench and table is great to have a social life on your plot 👍😍 Wow your sunflowers are doing amazing love them and your fabulous Nasturtiums 😍 Have a great weekend ❤️
Thank you Linda. He’s a pretty useful husband really.. unless it comes to full on DIY which becomes very agricultural, even in “needs a nice finish” interior areas of the house 😂 Sunflowers are lovely. I can’t believe I’ve not grown them before. I have so many I hope will flower but don’t think any will rival for victory in your challenge yet. Lovely to have a plot table. Such a nice place to sit. Hope you’re having a great weekend ❤️

Great qualifying today. Can’t wait for the race tomorrow now ❤️
That pink sunflower is stunning!! Hope you enjoyed the F1 - it was an exciting weekend to go! x

That tap is amazing ❤ love it. The beds are looking great too.
I couldn’t resist the tap. Totally extravagant but I just had to have one
I love a bargain! This is they time of year for it
Yes. Not with sowing my own ❤️

Beautiful garden lady 😮
Aww thank you. I think the garden is beautiful too, so really appreciate someone else thinking the same ☺️

I’m so glad people like the tap and don’t think it was a stupid purchase 😂😅❤️❤️
Fingers crossed your shallots are ok. 🙏🏻
@@TheFarmyardGarden it certainly wasn't Clare. It's very quirky and I love quirky 🥰
@ericandrachallotmenteers we all need one. Wish you were closer for Malvern in September
@@TheFarmyardGarden aww I know. I'll be there in spirit or I could FaceTime you and you can walk me around through your phone 😂
@ericandrachallotmenteers ha! That could be a plan, weather permitting
There is shlotts and shlots of them
😂🙌🏼

I knew I was in trouble when I had to have a lesson how to put the hose back around the tap.
Pay no rent - who supplies the boiled fruit sweets 😂😘😘
I bought two packets this week. We are even there.
But going…. I bet your tenderstem is covered now… how many harvests have you had? We’re on 5 for tea tonight ❤❤❤❤
Only one harvest so far. The second lot of stems are coming now 🙏🏻

They say the 1st thing you want to do is get a mini digger coz you use it so much on large land
Duncan loves the mini digger but he’d miss the telehandler more I think.
