Bro you are saving my ass with this tutorial. Just ordered my VLand lights for my R and I will definitely be using this video when I install them. Beautifully detailed!!
Hi marcus, only just dropped on to your vid and it's just perfect for my mk6 which has all the other lights sequential, Including Osram headlights with sequential turn signals, your tutorial is a blessing, I will even attempt the fitting myself. greetings from the UK.
Just installed these on a RHD Mk6 and was about to send them back to be replaced as the reverse light and rear fog were swapped, on the night before return shipping I get this video in my recommended said I might as well flick through it to see how you installed them. I randomly skipped to the part where you swap the white and brown wires to change the LED color and I tried it myself and it worked! Thank you!!
First wanted to say thanks for making such an awesome video, helped me through my install. Just finished up installing these on my Mk6 GTI and definitely feel like people should know the following. 1. Running the sequential wire through the rubber grommit is next to impossible, save yourself the time and cut/resplice. 2. I plugged in my hatch lights while hatch was extended upward during my install to test the lights and they would not illuminate, no running lights or brake lights. Tried everything under the sun(switching ballasts around, double checking connectors, etc) to get them to illuminate before I finished my install to make sure they worked, only to find out that when the hatch is open the car will cut power to those lights. Shut the hatch, boom. Everything lit up perfectly. Hope I can save someone the 1-2 hours of troubleshooting!
Thank you! And cutting and splicing the wires would definitely be easier. My hatch lights worked with my hatch up so there may be a coding change between the MK6 GTI and MK6 R but may as well drop the hatch down.

Great set of lights. I’ve had mine on my golf for 5 months now with no issues. Fitment of outer light required some modifications to get the gapping correct. Also found the brown/white wire swap on the form when I did my lights. Nice video 👍
What do you mean by modification? Just moving it around untill it fits better? Or did you use something else in order to make them fit better? Mine have small gaps, really want to fix that!
@Jack mcc17 I have right RHD and when I swapped the wires around the fog lights changed from red to white but only works in I have fog lights on, when I put it in reverse I still have 1 light.

Any recommendations with the white screw with the suspension cause i just can’t get it to fit into the lights the screw just comes out when i try to screw it in

Hi I installed these and everything was working perfect except the wire swap (done on left passenger EU) but obviously it's the other side I should've switched so my bad. Anyway, the left passenger indicator is not working anymore I tried switching back the wires and still nothing. I have 11 fault codes coming up on my obd now and even the power to the engine has dropped. Has anyone had the same problem or know how to fix it. Thanks
I took a better look and everything is connected but on the yellow and black sequential wire the copper wire is exposed a little bit on the yellow one obviously from pulling through the grommet. Would that have caused it? Might get a professional to see can they do a job on it
I fixed it. The exposed wire must have been touching the metal causing the faults and under voltage (don't know much about electronics but thats my guess) so I put electrical tape around it and it's perfect. Just wanted to ask, when I switch the brown and white on the EU driver side it doesn't come up as reverse light but instead it turns the fog light to white when turned on. Do you know how I would go about getting it to be as a reverse light but still a red fog light as it wouldn't pass nct test this way. Thanks for the help
I did everything right, except i bent those clips when i pulled white and brown wires out. Somehow after 20 minutes managed to get clips in, but now i have a white fog light, and only one reverse light. Does anyone know which wire isnt connected properly? Brown or white? I really dont want to pull both out.
@@marcuscrane2056 I found out what's the problem. I did everything right, but my car is from Germany, not the US model. We don't have a wire that connects fog light with reverse light, that's why I only see one reverse light and white fog light when I swap these two wires. Now I need to figure out how to connect these two.

Hey i was wondering from the link you said in the comments it says that the left side is red fog light, and the right side is white reverse light. How did you fix that so you get both to be the white reverse light
Great tutorial man! I'm thinking about getting these for my mk6 and this is super helpful. Do you know what might happen if one didn't connect the inner lights sequential wire in the trunk? Would the outer lights still have a sequential signal? Would both inner and outer lights function together as normal? Could that cause any error codes on the dash?
