I saw this being demoed at a convention last year. The designer's notes and background books alone are well worth the price of the game from what I remember.
Lucky you! Got the first edition, liked a lot of thing about it, but rules had to many holes. They did an update on the rules, made it better. Always thought it was an updated Dark December by OSG. thanks for sharing Jeff, and I still love you!
I am on the fence about trying to pick that up at some point before the end of the year. I have the original Hitler's Last Gamble but every time I have set it up I just cannot get it going for some reason. I wonder if getting a modern version of the game would be the catalyst to get me playing it? I'm not the biggest Bulge fan though so maybe its just that factor and not the game? Looks like you get a lot of bang for your buck with that. Oh I am nearly finished organizing the counters from the AWI tripack Hexy. I am aiming to get White Plains in the GMT sale next month with the updated rules and will wait till that gets here to get them on the table.
Afraid for me at this point in my gaming tastes it'd be better served as a door stop or a bookend than a table top game. I think Id rather have Joachim Peiper roll over me than try to digest all that...
