This track is already on RUclips but my upload has improved audio.
One of the greatest musicians/voice of musical history .
I so agree with every word you said!!
The fella that wrote it was playin piano
I agree! He is my favorite!
That voice, that guitar, those leather pants. Wow, I'm in love! Rip, you beautiful man. We will always remember you through your music.
I love Glen Campbell. He's my favorite artist.
Mine too. I saw him three times in concert and got his autograph the first time!
No matter how many times I watch this it still has that thrill. A unique beautiful singer and virtuoso musician.
Best you tube video for this song with Glen and Jimmy. Pure gifted talents.
Best Version of this Iconic Song : Sung by the Legendary Country Star. Beautiful Glenn Campbell .... R.I.P .....
Truth! I come back to watch this one all the time. I can't believe it has so few views.
He never sang a song badly, even if it wasn't a good song. This is a great song and great interpretation!
It’s a dumb song and a great interpretation
@@paleo704 it's you opinion/
👏👏👏
@@paleo704stupid opinion 🤐
One of Glen's best performances. One of the great underrated voices as well
Underrated? You are a moron.
Smoking wrecking crew guitar solo at 3:58. He could out strum 99.9% of the axe men in the rock HOF.
I think its more like 100%
@@glennm19 I agree
@@glennm19 You are correct.
It appears that 3 sad people left their cakes out in the rain. How can anyone not appreciate this amazing song?
What's worse is the people who focus on the dislikes like you did, as if what a few other people dislike is the most important thing.
Don't worry. You still have bigger cakes to bake. LOL!
I can't find words to describe Glenn Campbell, I'm lucky to have met Glenn , and daughter Debbie, when he played Dublin.,he came across such an ordinary guy.,I'm happy to say , I saw him perform 10 times.
Glenn was a master of guitar/ vocals.
Some people did not like his far right politics.
Another outstanding performance. The voice is as crisp always. Just ❤️ Glen. RIP gentle on my mind!
This is Glen's best rendition of MacArthur Park on the internet.
God's speed to a gifted entertainer.
one of the most purest voices i've ever heard, not to mention what he can do with a guitar, besides richard harris this is one of the best versions of this song. everything glenn sings always has 100% emotion.
That is why I love him so much. I can feel what he is experiencing through his songs!
This IS the best version of this superb song.
Totally agree. You can really feel the lyrics when Glen sings it.
Great, top singer, never tire to hear him
Its his vocal richness and tone..just unique and outstanding. When you put that with seemingly endless range you get one of the best voices ever.
Another favourite
The best angelic backup I have ever heard.
I always figured GGlens the best version. This has to be however Glens finest rendition wow....the guitar playing....the singing..
Gosh I miss him.
This is beyond words.
I've commented here before.
On re-watching this [I remember the original broadcast too], it again struck me that his was a towering talent.
For my money, Glen's 2002 live version with the South Dakota Symphony is a better overall performance even if GC doesnt have the same vocal range 27 years later. The guitar playing seems more integrated too.
As Chet once said, Glen could play the hell out of an axe. What chops the guy had, both vocally and instrumentally. A formidable set of musical gifts.
Hope you enjoy the clearer audio. It's from an audio cassette I personally recorded from my Grandma's TV set back in 76.
You should have seen his 1972 Witter Field, Wisconsin Performance..Topped em all.
Personally this one is my favorite version
after all the loves of my life, your still be the one.what a lyric mr webb,
Amazing voice, amazing song. Nothing more to say.
you're correct, much better than my upload. Cheers. Brilliant. Never get tired of listening to this classic.
Cheers Tony, glad you enjoyed it.
Very, very underrated performer...great musician, but even better as a singer.
Only in your small circle
@@normanmcneal3605Please explain? Obviously you know a lot more than I do on the subject....
@@sdi1111 was I replying to you? If so, go take the high diving board. Thanks for showing all your ignorance. Nite nite
@@normanmcneal3605 It seems you regard Glen Campbell as a better musician than he was a singer. However, it was not his guitar that got him to the top, but his voice! Are you happy to agree on that?
@@sdi1111 you are an idjut. I agree on that. My only comment on this video was that the piano player wrote this song. Jimmy Webb. Glen seemed to get along with his substandard singing. Post a video of you singing Hoss. Waiting
Superb!
Simply...the Best!!!!!
One of the best.
cool guitar Glen 3:55
I love you Glen Campbell, so very sad you had to leave us too soon but I'm sure God has his plan for all of us. I hope to meet you on other side, Glen Rest in peace..
Good guitar work by Glen. Yes, I think this is Glen's best performance of "MacArthur's Park" on YT.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He had another good one too.... His "Black Suit performance" (Forgot who he did that with...?!)
The one with Arthur Fiedler was less formal, and I thought to a degree less successful.
Anyway, it is always great to hear Glen's work. A real treat.
His performance on TNN was excellent too.
+John G. Lewis
Was the "black suit performance" the one for PBS? That's the one I love. Not that I don't like the other ones, but his maturity and life experiences seem to change the way he delivers the lyric. That performance conveyed a certain wisdom that the others lacked. But I'd be thrilled to listen to all of them over and over and over because he's just that good. And then there's the eye candy part of the equation. :)
I think the one you're referring to is the concert w/The Boston Pops. It's here on RUclips somewhere.
I agree with you about the 2001 live performance. However, Glen's voice here is at its best. Thanks very much for uploading. By the way, this year this performance was released on DVD again (Through the Years Live) and the audio was already better than the quite terrible version they released on Glen Campbell and Friends (2007). Your version is even better though.
So soulful and amazing! I love this.
Campbell was right when he said it was one of the best songs ever written. But only an Irishman (Harris) could lace it with more emotion
No one comes close to Richard Harris' interpretation. Best top 5 songs of all time. The amazing orchestration does quite a bit to help too...
Glen sings McArthur Park with longing, Harris sings it with Regret. And that's the difference.
@@TinyDancerO wish I knew how you figured that out, because for me, Harris is the one with the passion. His version is by far one of the greatest recordings ever!
This is a good one
Thank you so much for sharing this!
Wonderful
Wonderful 👌❤️👌
Love this song forever always listening to you 😊
I've heard Glen do better performances of this. I didn't care much for this arrangement, especially when there was too much noisiness when Glen was doing his magnificent guitar work. Even though I have a few criticisms of this particular performance, I LOVE this man and will NEVER tire of hearing him sing and play the guitar. And because I have my shallow side, I'll also never tire of looking at his delicious good looks. (sigh)
If you really want to hear Glen do a killer rendition of this song (and many others), go find his PBS concert in South Dakota. It's outstanding. There's a moment in that performance when your heart rate starts to increase as he pulls his guitar picks from his pocket and selects one for his guitar solo. You know it's going to be awesome because he's Glen Campbell. He doesn't disappoint.
I am in full agreement! I love that version of the song. Perfect balance that showed his mastery of both his voice and the fretboard. The crowds reaction shows they agree as well! As for what you said about the picks,I’ve always thought he had some sticky substance like “Pick Honey” to make it less likely he will lose the pick. I use it a lot. He looks like he rubs his thumb and 2 fingers with it. However I could be wrong. I will watch it again to study it closer.
Beautiful song beautifully sang, my fav singer...R.I.P
Stunning
i never heard Glen do this song as good as this version. 99
Great entertaining! And a good family man!😂❤😢
Speechless!
Jimmy Webb on Piano and smoking hot solo by Glen.
todd swift j
Fab and Fab again[. And Wonderful to"...Love it. Xx
fantastic!!!!!!!!
Wow - love, love, love this. ❤
3:55 why don't we talk about this solo more? it seems like one of those things that should come up more often
yes we've already commented on it a little. What would you like to say about it?
It's a real toss up between Glenn and Donna Summer on this most gorgeous classic (Richard Harris notwithstanding of course),
Thanks for your comments lumdeloo. I wasnt aware of the new Through the Years Live DVD. Will track it down.
Actually on the GC and Friends DVD set (2007), the Jimmy Webb episode has the best overall picture and sound of the six shows, except on about the last three tracks, including Macarthur Park, where it descends into serious audio distortion.
I agree Glen is in fine voice here.
phenomenal!!
Given Campbell's history with Jimmy Webb, why didn't he record this as a single?
@oldgoody1 It is worth it to track down That Through the Years Live CD/DVD, because it contains 5 previously unreleased tracks from the 1975 Music Shows and the 1972 Talk of the Town performance.
And then i only just found out that Where's the playground Suzie & Wichita Lineman are about the same girl (Suzie Horton Ronstadt) as Mac Arthur Park
shit hot
Yes I can hear at least the vocal track is improved, it's much clearer. Good job, oldgoody1.
Thanks vanibat, I only just read your comment, 8 years after you posted it!
Is that Gene Clark singing back up? It sure looks like him.
Do you mean from The Byrds? I dont think so. The backing singers are credited as The Maggie Stredder Singers whom I assume are English.
+oldgoody1 who are the Maggie Stredder Singers?
Those people dressed in red at 1:47
The UK's greatest ever back-up singers. Up there with The Sweet Inspirations IMHO. Maggie herself is the one with the dark specs on the right of the black-clad trio (standing as seen to the left of the red-clad lot).
Glen Campbell was a hottie.
Y yo que creía que D.S. era la original intérprete...ja! Qué sorpresa...y arriba Cananea!!
The piano player thought it took too long to learn it. I'll bet he knows it now.
Who was on piano? The writer? No accolades for him
Many many less talented people in the rock and roll hall of fame.
SEEMS LIKE HE LET THE CHORUS HIT THE HIGH NOTES ON THIS PARTICULAR VERSION.
campbell "shreds?"
Wonderful song and performance but for me there was no need for the guitar solo 4.00 as it takes away some of the magic. It's like someone vandalising a Vermeer painting.
Well, = Vocal by Heath Barkley! =LOL
Florida Georgia Line
Pancake in the rain means her make up being ruined as she waits for her man to show.
No. Terribly boring. Harris wins this.
Not a great cover. Some songs should be left alone.
Just an average club singer
+evilofisalm dont need can you play guitar like that? think not...
Oh come on, his guitar playing is less than average, a three chord player...
+evilofisalm hence why he was on 360 records in 1966 i think it was that were recorded that year and one of hal blaines wreckking crew yes right a three chord player ( chuckle) thats like saying mccartney has no songwriting skills!
No Mcartney could........... right but I speak the truth
+evilofisalm yes thats why you are on you tube mate ! not TV
