Thanks for the vids Mav! I watched your how to use Hornet radar like a pro. I was good with the Hornet but a few tips provided by you I said to myself “that makes sense”. Started using your tips and played on the 162nd pvp server and went 22/11. Blowin them out of the sky baby!!
I also love that DL contacts also show on your radar regardless if it's scanning or not. This makes it so you only need to do a quick glance at your SA page and fly to that rough heading until that same contact shows up on your radar page.
I still wish the SA page had more interactions with the actual radar though. I've read in the DCS forums that the real jet is supposed to have those.
One would think that selection of a D/L target on either the SA page or the radar page would automatically steer the antenna in azimuth and elevation so that the radar can see it...assuming it is in range. Seems like an obvious feature.
This video + the radar tips video are stellar.
I'm a simple man. I see a new Maverick Video, I watch it.
Great video! Love the Hornet content. Keep it up!
I knew about the step bottom and forgot it. Thanks for the video.
Nice video Mav, need to watch your RUclips stuff more!
Good video dude; keep it up!
Another valuable one Thanks 👍🏻
Another reason why the workload is worth it on the F-18. It has the best systems in DCS. Lots of info and lots of tools to get the job done. Great video.
Wow, as a new virtual F-18 pilot this is so cool!
Very useful, thanks! 👍
Nice edits!
Hey man, love your content. Extremely helpful. Had some questions on keybindings for the radar, think you could put something up?
Nice I never knew that
The man with five green stars on his jet is the man to listen to.
Top 👍 Thank you
Now it is very similar to the f16
Thanks a lot that was very usefull
Really handy video, many thanks. I've watched the video by tourniquet though who advised against the "spamraam" load out. Too many amraam's create too much drag. He got about 0.5 mach extra speed from losing the outer pylons.
I have the step button binded on my hotas and use it all the time.
Sorry but can you tell me what button did you use?couldn't pick the name...sorry i am not english native
The STEP button friend, it is AMPCD PB19 in controls
@@104thMaverick gracias!!
Will this work to point a targeting pod to a certain direction?
No mate
Did you bind this to your hotas?
Yes
......you cant lock target ls on the SA page dude. ...
You have to wonder though why wouldn’t the link and SA be able to export the data to the radar. Seems to me like it would have been a fantastic feature to have in the aircraft. SA page- step- lock, and have a button for send to radar. Radar immediately sets its elevation and azimuth to try and lock the target if it comes within gimbal limits. Because trying to lock a target like that usually happens right in the heat of battle or a high stress time, exactly when those few seconds you’d save could be the difference between bagging a bandit or being forced defensive.
So I have to ask, are we sure this isn’t a feature in the aircraft that was lost to the pages of some classified manual? And if the real aircraft is like this than why?!?
I think you might be right about the classified aspect mate, it sure would be a useful feature
how do you manually lock on friendly fighters?
why???
Ferty free fousand feet.
Ah, more good gouge.
