  • We flew up to Oregon to talk with the man responsible for creating the first aftermarket scooter deck, which ultimately led to the legitimization of scootering as a sport. Every scooter rider should know his story. Enjoy.

it means the world to me. its the one thing i devote my time to and get back up after being thrown down. The best is when you land a trick youve wanted after stacking so much. Its what drives me to get through the days at school, knowing im going to throw down harder than yesterday as soon as i touch my bars after a long day at school. Other than my girlfriend, this is one of the things that means everything to me...

Scootering, at least to me, is a major outlet. I've met some of the best friends i'll ever have, learned a lot about myself and how I handle struggles as a person, and grown overall to become something more than just some kid in a shitty suburb outside of Boston. Much love to TSI and TV.
      I'll never stop riding.
      I'll never change.

Scooters means allot to me man, I've been riding since 2007-2008 era and grew up on a fold up. I learnt feebles and pivot turns and stalls, it was so fun and always has been. I was bullied in primary school ( UK) and so I'd come home and ride my scoot and just release all my stress into doing what I love. I soon started secondary school ( high school) and that's where my eyes where opened. I hadn't a clue today scootering was becoming huge, and the fact that there was magazines about the sport such a scoot mag and scoot nation. I remember seeing Dan Barret on a solid setup at the Barcelona Street jam and I was inspired. I found out about a skate park who accepted scooters and took a trip down. Everyone was super friendly and with my skating background, the skaters where super chill and taught me park etiquette. I didn't know much tricks so I always did the stuff I seen on a skateboard as I grew up watching skaters, Rodney Mullen and bam magera, and was soon inspired by Ben Reybourn. I noticed the generic tricks being done, and I didn't want to conform to those tricks, so in time my style developed, which helped me to develop my own unique style. I soon started getting praise for what I did. At first I didn't understand why they liked what i did, as I couldn't understand why kids liked what was out of the norm, but then I started mixing up tricks like judo footplant grabs out of grinds (which you can see on my channel) and the Josh toy flip, which I discovered he did after I thought I'd invented a new trick.
We had a crew on my friends channel, we wasn't amazing at riding, but there was something to us all, and people liked that when they watched us. The crew soon parted ways to pursue other interests but I always stuck to my guns.
I then started riding with pros which inspired me to push myself. Dolton Taylor (crisp scooters UK) keelan Todd (AO) now and again, local boy Josh brown who kills it, and Harry labbet ( ex grit UK) who was just up there but unheard of in my opinion. We had a local Filmer Louistroutmedia who had some crazy skills, but as time went on others moved away, and the scene is kind of dead in Leicester. My local skate shop the ledge closed down and relocated, which was great as they always supported the youths who took to the extreme sports in Leicester. After a period of time my scooter broke which has sucked for a while, I was riding a stock crisp blaster that was £90 quid which was a bargain. My freind luckily gave me his board so I'm riding that until I can find funds to ride again. Scooters in effect has changed me and helped me to shape the rawness of my persona today, and for that I want to give something back to the industry. I really have looked into the fashion of how riders dress, and as a fashion student I've developed numerous of garments I think riders such as ; Hep Greg, Reece doezema, Isaac Miller, and maybe Sean cardwell would wear. There's such a niche in the scooter industry for clothes, and although you have companies such as outset, they really can't do it all on their own. The designs I've made are all made by me, designed by me, and I wear my own clothes. All I'm looking for is a way to give back to the industry, however I have only one qualm.
The industry in scooters is pretty grouped and it would be hard I think to market to scooter's as I feel the little kids would get in the way, due to the open mindedness of the style I've created. I wish they was more older riders, and when I say more I mean the majority of scooters as older mature, artistically minded rider's who would understand different concepts. Maybe the time isn't right for me to give back, I don't know, but what I do know is that I want to help and give back to the sport that made me who I am today, and has inspired me.
Thank you for reading sorry I wrote a book. Peace 🙏

I remember 7 years ago seeing my first tsi deck in person hands on at my friends house the headtube was snapped and was a two piece deck yet we still tried our hardest to put it back together and ride it for the sake of getting rid of our razor scooters. The reason we got the deck was because his neighbors were alex and Brandon Paschal who were and still are great homies with Tyler bonner. It was always nice getting hooked up with all the hammy down parts which would now be considered hella OG.

I got my first scooter in 2002 and I was hooked from the moment I did my first bunny hop. Scooters have come so far since then. Being 25 now I'm glad there are "adult scooters" and not just foldable toys. Scootering has brought my much joy and it means a lot to me. 2 months back I broke my ankle and fibula and was stuck in hospital for a few days and then a cast for a month and all I wanted to do was go out and ride my scoot. I've just started to ride again and it's awesome. This video was great! Hit me right in the feels.

That's crazy. I also got my first scooter around 2002 and just turned 26. It's still my biggest passion. Makes it hard for me to get anything else done, to be honest, cuz all I think about is riding and finishing my video part.

Met Matt in 2016 after seeing a random ad on Craigslist for cheap Paramount decks, thought it was too good to be true, I get there and I see him, KC, and Dan Barrett, at that time they were like megastars to me, Matt was the coolest most humble guy, my dad and him talked about Scooters evolving into what they had become, little did my dad know, Matt was THE reason scooters had become what they have today. Matt was so particular and detail oriented to his craft that he would sell “defect” decks for almost nothing, and these were barely defects, maybe an off looking weld or something didn’t look super centered, insanely cool of him to do that as we didn’t have much dough to spend on scooter parts. TSI OR DIE WE LOVE YOU GUYS

Scootering to me is a passion, when i go to ride i get that excited feeling when your opening presents on christmas or a birthday and i haven’t found that in skateboarding or bmx or any other sport out there. I havent been riding for very long (8 months) but i have that feeling inside that scootering is for me. Leaving it on that note i encourage anybody that sees this comment to introduce the sport to a friend or just someone you know that might enjoy it.
