Your set up is INCREDIBLE! This is my first year successfully overwintering water lettuce. I brought them in from my pond in late fall. I put them in my snail only tank with a cheap 10w MingDak clip on light. I do have a back of the tank filter, but I put some airline tube floating around it to minimize disruption. I tried growing it in my greenhouse with no movement at all. It started to grow up versus flat, but never put off any babies or additional leaves in 3 months.
What a legend I remember watching videos of yours years ago about cichlids when I was a novice and kept fire mouths in a gravel aquarium, 5 years later I have a sand substrate and have just ordered Salvinia and Water lettuce 👌
Don't limit discussing technical information in your videos. It's their job to catch up with us. After hearing light specs 300 times they'll finally figure out what we're talking about.
I am geeking out over your house as well. Like, my dream home with the tanks. That entertainment center.........WHOOO BOY~!! I got water lettuce because I thought it was cool looking. It always died. I never researched. Eventually, I put some in my shrimp tank that has like NO surface agitation, and it exploded. Trial and error, I am now a pro at growing the lettuce.
Hey man thanks for sharing the info. I just started keeping this plant and I'm trying to learn. It's doing really well outdoors in the tub Pond but I'm going to make the transition to growing it inside for the winter, so I appreciate the tips!
You place looks AMAZING !!! Excellent idea w the Entertainment center. You are so right about surface movement ... I recently added a tiny hang on the back and noticed the frog bit stopped thriving . I couldn’t figure out why until now thanks to you . Keep going .... your passion is great and the idea of a private fish store with artistic aqua scapes is very cool (a aquarium art studio so to speak Is so needed in the fish keeping world . I wish there was such a place in my area . You may want to consider offering classes on new set ups , aquascaping , aquaponics ect . at your little store studio for value added ... I am not sure if you are doing this just as a hobby or as a business ? Anyway ...Thank You for sharing . Oh yea ... Your frog bit will take off by placing your aquarium in front of a window . Mine is in the south at an angle in the corner of the room along w a aquarium light . I have a Walstad set up using Father Fish’s substrate formula and my frog bit is doing extremely well. Water 1/2 RO and half well, Use sponge filter or no filtration w betta fish .
Just got a dozen small daughter plants last week. Thank you for the tips. I have Nicrew lights on all of my tanks. Been using aquarium Co op easy green. I make wood blocks to space the lights above the tanks a bit.
Think your entertainment center is rad. I think the "fish tanks all over" look is super cool too 🤣 I have one little tank close to a tv and I'm scared to turn the TV up too loud . There's a Betta in there with super long fins who likes to do a lot of quiet time resting.
If you are using a hang on, make a guard so the floaters can't get to the output of the filter, works amazing, I use a plastic pop bottle qnd cut a nice long strip of plastic, works better than airline tubing with evaporation!
I received two small water lettuce pieces about 5 weeks with an order of red root floaters. For the first 2 weeks they just survived with very minimal light. Then I got a good light and they exploded, to where they were covering probably about 1 eighth of the surface of my 20H earlier today. I've now taken about half of it and put it in another tank, and I'm going to let the remaining water lettuce grow down all the way into the substrate in one of the corners of the 20H. Just to see what happens.
Really nice setup. I really liked your advices about water lettuces. Do you have any tips regarding keeping water lettuces or aquatic setups in sunlight?
how much is your electric bill? & can I just keep my water lettuce in a glass bowl for the winter ? the tips and tricks are helpful, but I dont have them In an aquarium .. Please help
Great vid, question. Would Water Lettuce be good for my aquaponics (guppies, snails) Primary Tank or would it eventually deny my Secondary ClayBed GrowTank the nutrients it needs?
Is it best to grow the water lettuce as the only type of floating plants in a tank? All my tanks have water spangles already. I know they would probably be fighting for surface area once they both really start growing
Failed last year doing this. Appreciate the video. Definitely think it was the water level and I burned the water lettuce up along with the water flow.
I've tried for months with floating plants - red root floaters, water lettuce, frogbit - they all melt. 7-gallon betta tank with very little surface agitation, Hygger light with auto sunrise/sunset mode. I tried adding Fourish and they got worse! I'm about to give up LOL
I'm here to try to find out if I can leave my water lettuce in my stock tank outside this winter since it's heated. The water should be warm enough but the air temp can get down into the 20s at night in the winter here, and it's southern facing.
Can you guys please tell my why my water lettuce are eaten by something, one of the leaf was bitten little by little and it got to all of the leaves. I dont see any visible insects or anything. Can i eliminate these things by soaking my lettuces in fish meds. I have like med for white spot or something can i eliminate these things by soaking into meds. Help me please, all the newborn water lettuces are eaten bit by bit.

Is the sunshine okay for them? İf I left the aquarium near the window?
They love the sun more than the artificial light
do the plants need any extra liquid fertilizers ?
do you have any knowledge or advice for growing in an outdoor pond? i bought one water lettuce and they have bloomed into about 100.
