the point of MGS5 is to start you off with doubts that you're big boss then to slowly convince you that you're big boss then slap it out of your hands like "no idiot, you're not remember?" but THEN ask you if it really matters if you do the things he would anyway
Not true. It makes it very clear that three people are injured in the hospital;. Miller, Snake, and one other. No analysis needed. It is spoon-fed to the audience.
In Episode 46, the first scene has Miller and Snake in the hospital and ends with Miller going "What about him?" referencing you (the player) looking directly at the camera. Because Based Kojima wanted to show everyone how good he is at Final Cut Pro the scene is in one of the first trailers.
It's kind of obvious from teh start that you aren't Big Boss. Everything they could do to make you think that they do. I mean what i sPunished Venom Snake? Why are they hiding other characters faces. Why does the other Character have Keifers (Big Boss) voice?
i remember the first time playing when i was making the avatar my friend was like... "so,i guess thats the dude your actually playing as" i wasn't sure but i had a bit of faith in that statement, because later on the A.I pod kept saying it wasnt john, and even huey was like... nah this aint the boss... man that ending was still cool tho
The character creation is so unnecessary and confusing, it just draws attention to who you're playing as. Maybe that's the point. It could just have easily been an option in the Customize menu.
I loved the Metal Gear Scanlon series but 5 was very, very, very boring to go through for me but I think that was appropriate considering I didn't care much for MGS5.
I think Dan, like most people, just want to relax and enjoy the game story. Actively trying to anticipate story beats seems like cheating yourself out of a lot of fun for the benefit of a moment's vainglory. That Drew does it here is an artifact of the LP format more than anything.
I figured it instantly out but I kinda talked myself out of it because I thought it was too obvious. MGS5 by far had the best gameplay but definitely the weakest story of any MGS game
Yeah, I didn't immediately recognise Keifer Sutherland's voice in that first level, so I never thought "Wait a minute, the character I'm playing as must have been hypnotized to think he's Big Boss, just like Ocelot did to himself with Liquid." Without the clues, why would you question it? Any clues that I might have picked up on were obscured by everything in the game being so weird and unfamiliar. I just thought him not speaking Russian was a mistake by Konami, because I didn't hear their explanation for it. The voice isn't a clue anyway, since they both have the same voice even before the crash.
Incredible
Drew is a genius.

*Spoilers*
The first trailer for this game gave away the fact that the player is not Big Boss. The first f*ing trailer
Ben Fairbrother only if you were over analyzing the trailer. I stayed away and enjoyed the ending.

Apparently I'm an idiot. Ignorance is bliss.
PS Miller was at the hospital? Only evidence of that was in post-game cassettes.

Right, I forgot.
You is salty.
Drew is spot on about the big boss face. Dayum.

Hey remember when Kojima also tried to pretend this wasn't his game even though everyone figured it out in like a half hour? Dude's slippin.
In a half hour? There were people in the twitch chat during the reveal saying it looked like metal gear.

I love playing 5 but if you were there mostly for plot it wasn't that great, yeah.
Wait... I thought everyone knew this. Did Dan seriously not pick that up? Did anyone not figure that out?
