Thank you Roger for always sharing your thoughts, experiences and tips with us all. As you know, I shoot from the trap where the clay is flying from (does that make sense?) so we do experience very different environments. However, I always learn something new from you. A couple of weekends ago I tried position shooting for the first time. It's new to the range that I attend. I hit 5 from 6 in standing position at 50 metres with my .22.
Roger, at a late stage in life (36yo) I'm just starting my clay shooting journey and I'm about to purchase my first gun (a 690/692), I find your videos a great source of information and I'm slowly making my way through them! Thanks for your efforts Roger! Dave
Dave...36 years of age gives you many years of clay shooting ...at your age you can become as good as you want to be...690/692 is a good gun ...happy shooting!!!
I really enjoy your videos. I need one on how to change my chokes with a first round beretta silver pigeon with these strange old tools. Nothing like the new ones.
Started my new Beretta A300 Outlander on Browning BPT 7.5 with muzzle velocity of 1300 fps with no malfunctions. Upon moving to cheaper Federal 7.5 at 1150 and 1200 fps, i experienced repeated shotshell ejection issues and worse accuracy. The latter was no big deal since I am only a beginner having started this summer. Went back to my initial loads and things returned to normal. Based on your comments, I will go back and assess the ammunition types used in some of my other firearms.
Thin Dime...you are very correct...find the ammunition you like and shoots well in your gun and stick with it...i only use 71/2 1250 fps...I used to try 8's in the bottom barrel and faster shells in the top barrel...now i shoot the Champions ...top and bottom...its much simpler and if i point the gun properly then the clays break...good on you...stay well!
Hi Roger I really appreciate your videos . Is there a good brand to purchase in the US you would recommend ? I usually buy the cartridges at the gun club .
K Wood...thank you and good to hear from you...a while back ...my answer would have been different...but with covid affecting shipments etc cartridge supplies have been less reliable and so over the last year I have shot 4 or 5 different brands of cartridges ...they all do the job...but find a cartridge that doesn't kick too much...that will set you up better for your second shot...certainlly do not go any faster than 1250 feet per second...recently i shot fiocchi at 1170 fps and they performed well...hope this helps happy shooting !!!
In the military we used to do the same, no point seeing the target if you cant see your weapons aim, not totally accurate but better than shooting blind, kind regards.
Looking dapper in your Yankee hat & pinstripes my friend........lol. Keep these great videos coming !
MegaFrank...with a face like mine ...when God gave out good looks...I must have been in the shower...good to hear from you and stay well.
Thank you for the advice on the speed of shot.
and thank you for watching !!!
Practice doesn't make perfect.
Only perfect practice makes perfect.
Kerry...can't argue with that...much appreciated...stay well and happy shooting !!!

Hi Roger. Would this help at a day shoot?. Our range is set amongst tall trees and during winter months has limited and often mottled light.
Raymond I don't think it would help in low light situations only at night really.
Roger Pace Thanks for this. 😀
