    I think that writing 30mm on the dial is appropriate, considering how legendary the 30mm series of Omega movements (30t2 and 26x later) is: it probably is the greatest movement ever in chronometric competitions together with the Zenith 135, which has a very specific architecture… the 30t2 has a standard architecture and it shone in both the competitions and on the field, not a feat that many can claim

    The Omega love continues. Even though the Ranchero was a flop, Omega could go back to the archives and bring it back - possibly as simply a 'small seconds' field watch. Doing so in a 36mm reissue would be fabulous. Trim the CK859 movement down a bit and call it done with the 3, 9, & 12 Arabic numerals and simplified minute track. I will continue to dream for such an omega endeavor. Thanks again, for this great video.
    Not to be overly forward, but I am sensing something is amiss. 1957 means a great deal to me also, and Omega's '57 reissues are sparking some serious sentiment and appreciation on my part. Especially as '57 is my birth year.

    The name, yes the name is the real downfall. And the crown!? If Omega had used the larger crown as with the other three I think it would have easily fitted into that fourth spot and fully rounded out the series.

      And come to think of it, reminds me of Omega's current Aqua Terra with a sub-seconds. It's a peculiar combo, right? 🥃

      @eyeheartsushi2212 Год назад

      @@ID-Guy Indeed it is. Somehow the sub seconds works in the Aqua Terra. I thought it was ugly (even said as much on your channel) but seeing it in person is a complete different experience. The gold/blue version is gorgeous but gold adds too high of a premium. The non-gold blue one would be my pick if I don’t want to pay for gold.

    Then what or who makes a homage or something very similar to the Ranchero.

  • @FFL3001
    @FFL3001 Год назад +1

    The Ranchero was less purposeful than the other three. It had no chrono function, no impressive water resistance and no soft iron inner case to shield it from magnetism. If it had kept the central seconds it could have been advertised as a worthy Rolex Explorer competitor, but instead it had that somewhat more dainty small seconds subdial. Not very sporty. So anyone in their right mind would buy one of the other three instead. And they did.

    • @ID-Guy
      @ID-Guy  Год назад

      Whats quite crazy is the Ranchero was quite water resistant apparently. I might be wrong, but this was also a cheaper alternative compared to the other three, but you're right, the others offered so much (and were quite ahead of their time / in a different league) Well put 🥃

    It's a very attractive watch, but Ranchero? Who were they kidding? Clearly something was wrong at Omega at this time: I mean... 30mm water resistance? Who signed this off?

  • @sanghoonlee5171
    @sanghoonlee5171 Год назад +1

    Ranchero--the world's first ammonia proof watch, resistant to up to 3 feet of cow dung. ...Jokes aside, this shows how luxury watches are an aspirational product. Nobody aspires to be a ranch hand.
    Omega could sell the name rights to Vincero. It will market the heck out of the thing--"Omega collaborates with Vincero!"
