What an epic solo adventure. Sam you do a great job capturing your surroundings. Little unsettling witnessing all those bear tracks and a sad state of environmental issues. Looking forward to your next video.
Cool video. I drive past the gas plant everyday and recognize many of the places you were. Have fished in some of those places but not as far up as you were. Great video! Well done!
Great job! Northern Alberta is a true gem. Not much people know it, you can enjoy the river all by yourself. There were stories about giant grizzlies though, take care!
I hiked all thru Glacier down the Belly river into Banff, bears, wolverines, wolves and rocks. Tough country in there but it sure has fish. We caught over 100 grayling in Glacier Park at Elizabeth Lake and the biggest I saw was maybe 16 inches long.
I lived for many years in northern Alberta and BC and it is for sure an undiscovered gem for the flyfisherman. Don't worry about the logging and oil activity ruining the fishing though. That acitivity has been going on in the north for about 50 years now and the fishing is as good as it ever was. The biggest problem in that area is that most people fishing there keep everything they catch, and with how hard the winters are, those rivers just can't take the pressure if people don't catch and release
Excellent video, had to watch on my 65" tv instead of on my tablet. I was going for native Athabasca rainbows on my last trip into an area a bit north of here in which I scored a personal best. Got a nice bull in the main river system then big grayling after big grayling in a remote tributary. Love this area and keep on making films.
I loved watching this adventure. Well filmed, well narrates and well edited. Grayling are on my bucket list, but until then, this video allowed me to live vicariously through you. Thank you.
It's wicked seeing my home from another anglers eyes (I grew up fishing all these spots with my friends). I've been in BC for the past four years and can't wait to get back home this June! Great job with the film! If you have plans to come north of the boarder again soon i'd love to spend a few days filming and fishing with y'all. (recommend heading to Haida Gwaii or interior BC if you want something really wild and remote)
It’s always been a thing on my mind when fishing. Often times these rivers and streams that are great for trout are pretty remote. I myself don’t have to worry about grizz, but I would say never underestimate black bears for those in the Appalachian mtns.
Great video only one thing I would suggest is let the walking away and walking to shots go. Would love to see what your seeing which would have add more time fishing. Oh well I guess if I don’t like it I can make my own. Great trip though. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've never encountered a bear or wolf in the wild before. The video is great & looks like a fun adventure. Thank you for sharing. Also, I have a couple of questions for you, but didn't see a way to contact you on your website. Do you have an email I can contact you with?
@FLYALLSZN I don't. All I have is RUclips, Twitter/X, and email. The question I'd like to ask is on behalf of the fly fishing organization I'm a member of. Would you be interested in being a guest speaker at one of our meetings. I replied to your comment two months ago, three weeks ago, & today. Again, if there's some way I can contact you & provide more information, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.
Closest encounter I have had with a bear was finding tracks so fresh they had just started to fill with water. To add to it I’d left my bear spray at camp. 🍀🐻
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen
High praise, that's much appreciated!
It's cool you gave this channel to your friend for an episode. Good to mix things up. I like his matter of fact, play by plays.
Glad you liked it!
Man, this video is just fantastic. From the shots, to the voiceovers to the music. Awesome job Sam. Stoked to be seeing more from FAS!
Thank you! More to come...
What an epic solo adventure. Sam you do a great job capturing your surroundings. Little unsettling witnessing all those bear tracks and a sad state of environmental issues. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks a lot!
loving the dorsal fins on those grayling 🤩
Hats off to yet again another banger, love seeing more content from the FAS crew. Keep it up, yall rule.
Much appreciated!! There's a lot more to come
Cool video. I drive past the gas plant everyday and recognize many of the places you were. Have fished in some of those places but not as far up as you were. Great video! Well done!
Great video. Been a couple of years since I have been in that watershed, you have convinced me to make a trip this season.
Hope you have the same luck I did!
Great job! Northern Alberta is a true gem. Not much people know it, you can enjoy the river all by yourself. There were stories about giant grizzlies though, take care!
🎉❤😊 Sam is the man!!!
That's very nice of you!

Dig the style Hippie Sam. Both the fishing and filming. What an adventure!
Beautiful trip, thanks for taking the time to post !

Always producing a banger vid!🤘🏼
Thank you!
Awesome trip!
Thanks for sharing!
Great video. I was fishing the upper Red Deer a day or two before those folks were killed. I wasn’t that far away either. Scary stuff.
Killed by somebody?
Bear
You’re going to have to travel up highway 40 in Alberta and hit the creeks
I need to take you to some very special places on the Gunnison brother for real
Well done!

Great video!

For sure, black bears are no joke either

Pretty sure I’ve fished the same area a few times. Lots of bears up there
Great filming and dialogue!!! Do the leggings you guys use work for cold water?? And what brand? Thanks!!!
Look at the chompers on that bull! 0:32:20
Big chompers no doubt

Do you have an Instagram? That would be the easiest way to contact us!

This is why S&W made the model 29 in a 3 inch barrel
Don't think you can carry one in Canada though.
@hhblair44 then the only option is to pepper spray. Safely remove kayak first. For more watch bear attacks girl's kayak.
i have to know what that green and white rod is what brand i mean?
Suggestion - try to film the part where a bear is trying to join you in the car - people might be interested in that
Easier said than done!
Closest encounter I have had with a bear was finding tracks so fresh they had just started to fill with water. To add to it I’d left my bear spray at camp. 🍀🐻
Spooky! I've definitely backtracked a few miles after forgetting my bear spray...gotta have it out there.
I was plagued for a good 50 years by the expression "one more cast'. Probably 60 now.
Most people associate Alberta with oil
Hard to keep your flies dry/floating..kind of day
The best kind of day
Can’t leave food or stoves etc out at night
Leaving the stove out was a mistake, the hunter camp next to me also left a deer strung up...
There’s 30” ers in that river.
I believe it!
Work the areas you are fishing in this! Some amazing spots out there
I’m honestly shocked I haven’t seen my truck in the background of your vid we fish the same spots out there 😅
Maybe someday you will!
