-Short story "Knock" by Fredric Brown.
This video pushed everything I know about film-making at the time. I had no budget and only a crappy tripod and camera my parents helped me purchase. The only money spent was on gas for location scouting.
I was aiming to capture loneliness, sadness, and fear using mostly the visuals of a grim bare environment to convey these feelings and emotions. It was something I really enjoyed working on and hope you will enjoy as well.

Would you open the door?
Although I was thinking that maybe this is a physical metaphor and it just means he's alone lamenting on his precious memories he had lived but the knock represents someone wanting to let themselves into his life and help.

I've seen a few. Last Man on Earth videos. This one almost ends with hope. He's the only one of the men that opened the door and you didn't hear a scream as the scene faded.

Its possible with that set-up a regular car battery can last 4-6 hrs..I've done it in a hurricane.

As this was a film, you cant just break into stores so they needed to improvise. Im pretty sure it was already hard enough to find a place and time where there were no people or animals wandering around

That was pretty great! I mean it was cleanly and dynamically edited and you did a pretty good job getting locations that looked deserted with no budget. I would show this to anyone who's thinking of making a film to show what can be done with a bit of tech, talent, and effort.

He was only looking in dumpsters to find a VCR player so he could watch the old videos his dad made. I imagine it's because when the "world ended" the stores were not selling VCR players anymore - they were obsolete - so he had to roam around looking for one that someone threw out. It was either that or break into to people's houses or apartments to find one - which he may not have wanted to do for some reason.
Oh yeah, and there is an endless supply of electricity...
If you were the last man on earth then there wouldn't be any rules! you could do what ever you wanted! But you would get lonely very fast.

Just got this in my recommendations. I just made a version of this same short story a couple months ago not knowing there was already one. Great job on this film!
I watched this film just so I could ask where the power came from. There were some well done camera shots. Although, they do say the Hover Dam will keep generating power for a long time.

If I where last man on earth I would live on a diet of breakfast cereals as they last years, I'd take all the cars and tech I wanted, I'd rob a bank just for the fun of robbing it, I'd burn down a massive city, I'd teach myself to fly a small aeroplane and stuff. It would be way more epic that looking in dumpsters and living In a room with a seat and TV...
You wouldn't be able to drive or fly for long. Modern fuel requires preservatives and controlled conditions because bacteria and the environment break down the complex energy real fast making it go stale
Gasoline and other fuel expire, so you’d have to do the plane thing pretty quickly

You could of used tales from terror from tokyo ¨A motel¨ for reference (or some inspiration whichever, asian horror is pretty good at these lonely characters) I think the ending was a bit weak due to the shots and editing.

A great idea ive wanted to see explored for a long time but unfortunate destroyer of atmospheres, a truck at the beginning, decided to barge their way in

So this guy is the last person on earth and he decides to watch tv.... I get that it's limited on what they can do in a short film. But if this ever happens I'm going our getting some badass cars and bikes and moving into a millionaires house and enjoying the rest of my days.
I'm using the same short story to base my short film on. However I'm adding a few little twists. Great inspiration and I shall take a few lessons from this.

there shouldn't be electricity in a world without men. All power generators have shut down, food and entertainment consoles should be endless from stores. Could have been more thought out.
Electricity in his house was powered by a gasoline-powered generator. You can't have a narrator explaining every little thing for viewers who can't figure them out.
