Oh also, if there's text on the stamp, or you care about your image being mirrored, you'll want to mirror the stamp image in Inkscape!
I can’t be the only one to get super giddy when I can help my parents with my maker/cosplayer skills and especially when I get to use my printers or other machines to help them
That Trace Bitmap feature may have just changed my life. (Or at least enabled an old project idea.)

The black and white should probably be switched for the raised portion. Otherwise the black portion of the yin/yang symbol won't be as noticeable. The other option would be to leave it as it is, but have a raised ring around the whole symbol so that the black part will be more noticeable as a yin/yang symbol.
I hear ya, but this is exactly how my mom wanted it to turn out. Gotta go with what the client wants.

Wow, thanks Bill for another wonderful tutorial. I've been curious about Inkscape and its capabilities, and you showed off a couple of great features that may come in handy. Being a diehard PS user, Inkscape seems to be a viable alternative, especially when converting raster to vector images, big plus. Thanks again!

Linoleum is good for stamps cos it's slightly mushy. Can also buy stamp rubber from Michael's etc

I personally prefer Vcarve or Aspire by Vectric when it comes to 2,5D carving. It’s not cheap but it combines the design and post processing stage into one piece of software. I also found that the learning curve in Fusion is steeper as it has way more variables to take into account. Also, fusion tends to slow down significantly when using more intricate vector files. Fusion is more powerful though. And free if you don’t use it commercially.

That's a great idea. Fortunately the 60 degree bit I used created a draft angle for those thin detailed parts.

This is so frickin cool! Could you recommend a good beginner friendly mashine for a cosplayer who mainly wants to cut out EVA foam for my future projects? I've wanted one for years but was always afraid to finally commit to a purchase 😅
A vinyl cutter/plotter might be what you're looking for! It uses a blade instead of a spinning bit and can cut EVA foam: www.downencreativestudios.com/tutorials/cricut-for-cosplay
The grain pattern and yellow dust coming from it makes me think that wood is ipe (EE-pay), a Brazilian hardwood. I have lots of chunks left over from a deck project. Very hard, and insect- and rot-resistant.

I use the singular "maker" because I want our audience to know that I'm talking directly to them as an individual. Bob Ross did the same thing.
