Rest In Peace my friend. Thank you for introducing me to BFS fishing. Your videos were a wealth of knowledge when virtually no one was making videos about UltraLite Baitcasting gear.
You're our community father You're our fishing buddy You're our fishing mentor Lastly, you're my bro and a forever bro Your passing is sudden but I'll remember whatever you've taught me, guided me throughout my fishing journey... Not just me, but all of us! I'll hold on your legacy and with the rest, we'll carry on the strongest fishing spirit here none other than, Singapore. Go on buddy, go on the other side, be the one and only Angler that no one can beat and always remember tight lines! Rest easy, Bryan.
BCSG was invaluable to me when I first got into BFS fishing back in 2015. I still benefit from reviewing the videos here. I hope all is well with the creator and his family and hope that his situation will improve to the point that he posts some new material. In any case, I do want to say thanks for all the help you have given me and others.
From the USA here and just wanted to drop a comment and say I started watching your videos about a month ago and I've been hooked. I love your commentary and how you explain gear, tackle, and tactics. Sorry to hear about the state of fishing in Singapore. Your explanation of the situation is very coherent as you hoped it would be and I hope changes come in the near future. Until then, I hope you continue to fish and publish videos! I've always wanted to visit Singapore and hope to do so sometime in the near future and maybe get to fish some of your favorite spots. Also congrats to you and Mrs. BSSG, wishing you bundles of joy!
Damn...I just found your channel and I love your work. I wish you the best and congrats on your new family. I really hope you reconsider on the videos as your find your new balance in life. I think you offer a unique fishing perspective especially for English speakers who are interested in your style of fishing. There really isn’t another channel like this on RUclips. Thanks and hope to see something from you soon.
Hey BCSG, Just wanna let you know that your videos helped me immensely when I started out fishing in 2018. I remember catching my first two peacock basses at Kranji reservoir and to make the day even better, I ran into the great BCSG on the same day! It rained heavily after that but u mentioned u were here to just get a couple of casts in. I still have the wefie we took together on that day as well. After watching this video, I somehow had a feeling that the videos would stop and sadly it did. I'm sure you have good reasons to as well. In fact everything you said in the video resonated strongly with me and I feel more and more restricted as a fisherman in Sg. However, if you do feel up to it some day and want to restart the videos may I suggest doing saltwater videos for a change? I feel like there are much more extensive saltwater legal areas than freshwater - which is getting more and more restricted as time goes by in Singapore, who knows where the authorities will ban next. But one thing they can't ban is the wide open sea, be it jetty fishing, beach fishing, shore fishing or boat fishing. There's also a lot of good knowledge that a master like yourself could share regarding rigs, baits, setups. I've learnt most of my basics of freshwater luring from you and I'm sure many others have too. Thanks for everything and for inspiring my passion in fishing. Tight lines, my friend.
Just started ultralight fishing. Great fun learning to cast. Was so happy to find this #1 channel but so disappointed when the content ran out. Hope to see you back.
Similar things have happened to us in Hawaii on the island of Oahu with regard to freshwater fishing. In a couple of instances, the bureaucrats in charge didn’t want people fishing because they regarded the fish as pets and they didn’t want people to catch them. Sometimes there is no justifiable reason. They’re on a power trip and they just get a kick out of telling people ,”No!”.
I remember watching your videos years ago as a young fisherman and I just recently stumbled upon them again. Sad to see you haven’t been posting anymore.
Congrats on the baby sir, I have my first on the way as well and is due in October. We have had had a unusually rainy spring here in Maryland as well but I have been getting out every now and then. Love your vids and you have inspired me to try BFS . Tight Lines and Fish On sir
I went back and watched a lot of your BFS related videos and only just realized that your last upload was in 2018. Hope you're doing well man and I hope I get that notification someday saying you uploaded.
Wow, I feel really lucky to live in a place where there is a lot of fishing. I hope the future brings you regular opportunities to fish. And I hope things go smoothly for you and your wife.
nice speech! i do understand how ya feel. That why i shift to sw luring but still sw doesn't mean don't have legal and illegal especially saw e sign "stateland"
Probably not any comfort to you, but here in Norway freshwater fishing is restricted to 3 months from mid june to around mid september, and many places earlier. Now the lakes are covered in ice from November to june. And there is no sunlight for 2 months from November to January. But we can fish on the ice from February until the ice melt renders that unsafe. I never really took to it, so in the winter months, I saltwater fish if it is not to cold. On the other hand, we have thousands of natural lakes and rivers to fish in when it is possible to do so :-D
hi @BCSG Fishing, it has been 2 years since your last video. I hope you're blissfully happy with being a father. Hope that you can continue the channel with more educational videos about fishing and how to teach young children the Do's and Don'ts about fishing etc. Coz I have a young son that adores fishing for some reason, and I have never fished in my entire life. So I'm looking to youtube as my teacher (your videos have taught me a lot, thank you so much for that). Hope to see baby BCSG in your new videos (if you decide to continue the channel). Also, some would like to know how is the fishing situation currently compared to 2 years ago. And how's things been for you. Cheers!
Oh my boy is just having a party in there, I never expected to be scared to see so much movement and pain that I would be worried she may explode haha...
Where were u lost mate.. it has been bloody long since last vids ✌🏻congrats on the bundle of joy in the House 😊 hope u post vids regularly.. it’s nice to see you after such a long time. Yes Singapore weather is cranky.. haha and I feel you mate as to how much u wanna say and shout about sg and what’s holding you back 😉 all said and done sg is one of the best countries in the world and ur hearing it from a non sg citizen.. I say it coz I was there few years.. yes the Govt authorities must relax a bit and let anglers enjoy the fishing..
Hi BCSG Fishing! I love your videos btw can i ask you a question i want to start ul bc and i have the $150 BFS Set up(kuying teton ttc642L and tsuriyona xf50 L). I was going to ask if i get a kuying teton ul(bc),which reel should i use shimano aldeberan or daiwa ss air.
Hi mate, not sure if your still posting...., I’m looking at my first bfs rod and I’m looking at the ace hawk cu602ul and the tsurinoya Ajing.... any thoughts?
Already give up fishing inland for Singapore. I think the government want is... if you want to fish... charter a boat go outside of land and fish. Not long from now .... i think SINGAPORE WILL BE THE ONLY COUNTRY TO BAN FISHING IN LOCAL WATERS. Im not surprised doh.

As a newbie who just started 1 year ago, i really struggle to get to fishing spots with many illegal fishermen. Netting, baiting, even those who dabao fishes back. Its a constant struggle to get to fish to be honest. I’m not a fan of illegal fishing as well... i hope they employ some sort of licensing in singapore like the US?? Even if i have to attend a day of course, i wouldn’t mind at all if i can get to fishing spots with decent fishing.
I guess after all PUB are just doing their job but to our anglers its definitely upset seeing lesser fishing ground in Singapore , let's hope for the best and really hope someone from relevant agencies can hear our voices.
Hey man. I'm 4 years too late with giving you a proper follow. I stumbled upon your channel from trying to decide if the Kastking Blackhawk II any good as a telescopic fishing rod. From that video of you reviewing a few of the telescopic rods, I ended up here. Hope you and your family are good. You're very articulate when ranting about your elected officials. lol You should get elected so you can be in charge and have a fisherman's voice.lol Tight lines man....
GREAT video, elegantly and eloquently presented. As a Brit I’m used to freshwater fishing with artificial baits as the exception rather than the rule and so in Singapore I feel stymied before I even begin. I’ve just gotten myself some gear for targeting PB, Toman et al, but the availability of places to fish is, as you rightly say, bafflingly restricted. My Son and I are looking to go to Malaysia for traditional float fishing approaches. Not man made ponds where baskets of fish are released and folks fish with line that would be better suited to hang out your washing on, and proximity to the next angler that risks claims of sexual molestation with each cast. Haha. I just got a bait caster reel and will soon take that out to figure out how to use it. Sad;y in those restricted places. It’s a shame...
A friend of mine bashed his way into the middle of mandai jungle to fish. Halfway fishing a helicopter came down and hovered right in front of them above the water and with a loudspeaker shouted at them to identify themselves. Turns out that a part of Mandai is a classified military zone. I can agree we need more legal grounds, definitely without a doubt. But when we go where we definitely cannot go, it's a hellava experience.
Hey BCSG, Great Video! the sports of fishing hakes no moola for the country. Drinking etc is seen as safer and healthier entertaintment because it brings the moola in....
Yes it's a deplorable situation. But as an occasional angler I think there should be licensing and responsibility. So many illegal and inconsiderate anglers I've seen. I also feel bad myself when I get snagged and cutoff line leaving line in water. Many saltwater anglers are also terribly inconsiderate. Many who take trips to our coastal waters or fish from shore, take infant fish, immature juvenile fish, everything also makan, fish populations have no chance to recover, even the boat captains don't say anything about the unsustainable practises. We inflicted this upon ourselves. So I personally hope we can have proper regulation and responsible anglers. Hey bcsg why don't u think about starting a association that could evolve overtime to regulatory body for anglers. I mean sometime in future after the kid / kids more grown up. Just an idea.
I completely agree with you, a lot of issues are arguably self inflicted by parts of our own community, it's the sad truth but also a vicious cycle. No proper regulation and education means no proper code of conduct to look up to, this leaves the door open for many different schools of thought, some of which are not the most appropriate, where individuals fashion themselves as mentors and impart these inappropriate and sometimes outright wrong values into the younger/newer generation of anglers. This results in backlash from the public and even within the community itself, which in turn causes the governing bodies to impose blanket laws. This is a chicken and egg situation and neither side is willing or able to take the first step. Either the government offers the olive branch first, which is unlikely, or the community stands together to promote proper fishing etiquette, which unfortunately would include discouraging illegal fishing, and that is equally unlikely. There have been discussions about an association in some of my circles of friends, unfortunately i feel it is quite an undertaking. It takes time, commitment, not to mention considerable guts and perseverance to step forward and attempt to represent a community that is so divided and hostile, that could just as easily turn on you as it would support you.
Omg thanks for preaching!!! I agree!! i can say the same for other hobbies too, like RC planes Drone flying ect. There are not many place near by that we can go too. its always 30 to 60 mins away. How can we chage this ???
Agree with you bro. But Correct me if i am wrong but Perhaps the problem is there is no association that represents anglers is in existence for these governing bodies to engage and see things from our perspective. Like dragonboaters has the the SDBA. Any other watersport is represented by PA Water Venture. But i dun think there is a national association for anglers. And if this is the case, perhaps its time to start one so that our side of the story gets heard. So that we can engage with these agencies for the betterment of fishing in Singapore. My two cents worth bro.
We actually have 2 associations but you are not wrong in the sense that they aren't exactly the most active, definitely not to the level of being able to represent the community in the capacity that we would require to push for change. I think I may have mentioned it before in a previous video somewhere but there have been some talks about setting up one for this purpose but it is a huge undertaking not only from a personal commitment perspective but also from a community perspective. Our community is not one that will willingly allow themselves to be "represented" by an association. Too many Indian chiefs, too many self proclaimed mentors, too many conflicting schools of thought, whichever way you wanna put it, the bottom line is an association does require a relatively unified community to represent and unfortunately we do not have that in Singapore. So to an extent you could say the community brought this upon itself, if you get what I mean.
Maybe we should have a meeting to discuss and bounce some ideas on how to resolve this. Lets start a forum within the youtubing community. Cause it affects our ability to provide content. I dun wanna wake up one day and have all the legal areas in LSR revoked and we end up with only the sad old jetty to fish. Let me know your thoughts. Or maybe we take this offline and discuss. Let me know bro. 👍🏽

Best wishes for the future...baby and fishing!
When are you posting again bro
Nooo! I haven't fished in months, due to my wife's pregnancy. I just bought a new setup as he's going into childcare this week. I thought I'd drop by Pandan come Monday. Damn you PUB! I was really looking forward to it. Pandan is the only freshwater spot I fish.
BCSG where is the Kastking Telescopic Rod video ?
As a newbie who just started 1 year ago, i really struggle to get to fishing spots with many illegal fishermen. Netting, baiting, even those who dabao fishes back. Its a constant struggle to get to fish to be honest. I’m not a fan of illegal fishing as well... i hope they employ some sort of licensing in singapore like the US?? Even if i have to attend a day of course, i wouldn’t mind at all if i can get to fishing spots with decent fishing.
I will always remember him
Come back bro!
Hope to see a video soon, are u still out there?????? We like your BFS fishing u still got the xf50??? How is it held up????
What happen to this channel? Where is he at?
Is there any good Saltwater fly fishing in Singapore? I would have thought somewhere around Sentosa?
i like how he leaves youtube with this being the last video.
I guess after all PUB are just doing their job but to our anglers its definitely upset seeing lesser fishing ground in Singapore , let's hope for the best and really hope someone from relevant agencies can hear our voices.
hi i am a beginner may i know what light/ultralight spinning reel is recomended sub 200 , was considering penn conflict 1000 is that any good?
Come to fish in Malaysia , we can fish almost any place, beside the sultan’s house pond or some people private pond , lol
The problem is there is no fish..
That fish tank is dope af!
Hi! Have you tested the Kastking Blackhawk II already? Can't wait for your review!

Since you’re from the same area perhaps you know why he stopped posting videos all together?
So what is up with daiwa 705 tmhb? Is it good? How it feels?
Would like to see what aliexpress budget bfs reel you recommend in 2023-2024.
Hey BCSG, Great Video! the sports of fishing hakes no moola for the country. Drinking etc is seen as safer and healthier entertaintment because it brings the moola in....
I love your channel.
That absolutely sucks some of the ponds I used to fish I can't anymore but that is just on a whole nother level
Hey, i dont know if you will read this but can we please have an update video on your current situation??
Haven't heard from you for a while. Hope you're not in jail for criticizing the Singapore Govorman.
William Liew He’s fine. Just taking a break from fishing as he has a baby BCSG Junior
R.I.P BC...
Pssst. Still fishing bro?
RIP bro
Was waiting for you to talk about the macritchie reservoir legal area. Person in PUB who designated that area needs to sort his IQ levels out.
The people at PUB/NEA have no IQ, what are you talking about? NEA once asked me if I got bitten by male mosquitoes, which feed on nectar...

The fishing community has more drama, politics, vested commercial interests dividing ourselves than it is possible to unite as a single voice.
RIP Bryan
