- Here is my tribute video to beloved actress JoAnna Cameron (1948-2021), fondly remembered as the star of the 1976 Saturday Morning TV series, "The Secrets of Isis." This is a segment from the TV show, Love, American Style, entitled, "Love and the Eyewitness." It aired 50 years ago this month on November 19, 1971.
She was beautiful. Played a great role in the Columbo episode "Negative Reaction". RIP JoAnna.
She was so lovely. Especially on The Secrets of Isis. Quite possibly the most beautiful woman who ever lived! R.I.P. Joanna, and thanks for the tribute vid Ron.
I agree! Joanna was the most beautiful of all the pretty girls on TV & movies of the 1970s!👌☺️😘🎥📺
R.I.P. Jack Burns & Avery Schreiber.
She was a beauty!
I am so glad for these tributes to Johanna Cameron -- it's such a shame that she's passed away. She was so lovely.
If she wasn't the the sexiest woman she certainly was darn close
she is the sexiest woman ever of all time
A very beautiful woman. And also, talented actress.
I love this serie: 51 old years...😢💥
Thanks for posting this gem
What a great episode. I love ❤️ and miss Joanna and Love American Style. I’ll remember her appearance on the episode of the 💀 deadly dust from the TV show The Amazing Spider-Man. Missing you Joanna
"No one would be in bed with Jo Anna Cameron on their honeymoon and be asleep," says Jack Burns' deputy sheriff. Truer words never spoken. She looks ravishing and has that lovely voice. And what ultra-feminine, alluring gown and robe the wardrobe department at Paramount decorated her with.
As John Kern helpfully pointed out, Jack Burns played the cop on "The Andy Griffith Show." Burns -- of the comedy team Burns & Schreiber -- had the impossible task of stepping into Don Knotts' shoes in year six of "TAGS" (1965 - 66) when Deputy Barney Fife left Mayberry for Raleigh, coinciding with Knotts' departure for Universal Studios' feature film division and a five-movie deal. From TV star to movie star. Burns played Andy Griffith / 'Andy Taylor''s new deputy, Warren. The experiment and Burns' effort failed as he was gone after eleven episodes (spread out over 20). The deputy character was dropped from the cast, the show's setup.
As we saw there and as we're reminded here -- a little of Jack Burns goes a long way. First of all, this "LAS"'s segment's script was lame and preposterously plotted. IMO Burns, who's more deserving and capable of supporting roles than lead roles, has way too much screen time here and way too much idiotic dialogue.
Imagine if Don Knotts had played this character?! A totally fabricated scenario: after initially declining the role over its script problems, an okay was given for Michael Anderson, Jr., Jo Anna, Don and Charles Dierkop ("Police Woman" Angie Dickinson's fellow offer, Pete Royster) to fine-tune the script while keeping the basic plot. The biggest change would have been Don would have been aware of his law enforcement duties and been FULLY aware of the romantic hours waiting to take place behind CLOSED doors with the newlyweds because no adult is THAT stupid not to know otherwise. So, Deputy Don would have made fewer interruptions, had less screentime, yet his 'moments' on camera would be welcome, would 'shine' and knee-slapping-laughter worthy and heartwarming.
Continuing my fantasy scenario fixing a half-century old, anthology, television comedy: So the ABC censors don't go into overdrive with the inevitable lovemaking inevitably to occur, Jo Anna and Michael, while drinking champagne pre-coitus briefly discuss their respective memories of the robber and getaway car. A SLIGHT disagreement ensues; upon Deputy Don's next interruption HE helps patch up their differences, their respective eye-witness of the robbery's aftermath. END.
. . . From the "Ripley's Believe It or Not" (or ultimate TV trivia file) a year and a half before this episode aired, Jo Anna joined ABC's new Nielsen Ratings' juggernaut, "Marcus Welby, M.D.," as Anne, a nurse and love interest for James Brolin's Dr. Steven Kiley, widower Welby's (Robert Young) young partner in private practice in Santa Monica, Calif. Watching the episodes on the wonderful DVDs it's clear it was a natural progression and the two men 'warmed' to her addition. Not surprisingly the young actress looked lovely in nurses' whites and Anne's (pronounced like 'Annie') personal wardrobe. When Kiley invited her to the races at Santa Anita they made a strikingly attractive couple even though -- in true tv fashion -- Cameron's ensemble would NOT be something she could ever afford on a nurse's salary.
ABC Photo Publicity department had even distributed nationally a Cameron portrait announcing her addition. Alas, she was gone after only three shows in 1970, just prior to "Marcus Welby, M.D." achieving Number One status for all primetime series. No explanation given on camera or to the press / public. A couple episodes that closely followed had awkward, 'something's-missing-here' moments / scenarios without Kiley's steady lady friend.
Jo Anna Cameron, R.I.P
Rest In Peace Mr Tim Donnelly and Ms Joanna Cameron.
Thank you for putting this on RUclips this is another Joanna Cameron classic. She was a beautiful woman especially on Secrets of Isis.
Rest In Peace Joanna Cameron (Oh Mighty Isis).
Excellent!
Gosh she was pretty.
Joanna was born just a few years too early. By comparison, Katharine Ross was the "It Girl" of my youth, adorning the extremely popular movies, "The Graduate," and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" in consecutive years. Joanna could have filled both those roles and no one would have complained.
this was good
That cop. He's the one that played Warren on The Andy Griffith show.
I thought he looked familiar! Thanks!
Jack Burns. And just like on the Andy Griffith Show he plays a deputy who tries to be Barney Fife 2.0!
Jack Burns used to pair up with Avery Schreiber
another hyperkinetic performance..not funny mind you but hyperkinetic 👶
Oh shit, didn't know that she died.
I saw her first in Columbo-Episode 'Negative reaction'. And I was instantly leashed by her otherworly beautiful athletic legs.
Didn't get her long time out of my mind, (especially before sleeping).

Flawless lady. I’ve always preferred brunettes.
