So they reinstalled there like for decoration or something? I’m curious cuz I’m not from there so Idk the history behind that signal or any of the crossings here
It's a small horn that's used at some quiet-zone crossings to sound like a train horn. As they are much smaller, quieter, and aimed directly at the crossing(s) they protect, they don't disturb the nearby residents as much as a normal train horn would.
I'd rather hear REAL horns, those waysides are the same sound and at the same pitch EVERY time! At least you get a variety of pitches with the train horns.
These videos are so relaxing to watch, but GOD DAMN THOSE TRAIN HORNS ARE LOUD!

How many trains could i expect on average in a 24 hour period?
For this line, I'd say about 20-30, which is really sad to say because back in the 2000s tit would see about 60 trains per day.
It’s mainly because of PSR combining trains.

I like the De Kalb horn and speaking of De Kalb I am surprised you didn't film the famous crossing at hwys 23 and 38.
