Railroad Crossings of the NS Toledo District Volume 1

- Running from Bellevue, OH, to Toledo, OH, is the old Wheeling and Lake Erie mainline, now owned by Norfolk Southern. This line sees a decent amount of trains every day, although with a newer connection built in Sandusky a few years ago, most WB haves diverted away from
this line.
The lines sees mostly NS trains coming into Bellevue from the Chicago Line via a connection at Oak Harbor, along with a few WBs and a few trains staying on the Toledo District past Oak Harbor, most notably NS 343/344 and the W&LE run thrus.
In this video, I have crossing videos from April 2014 up to October 2016. Lots of Safetran mechanical bells, a couple WCH mechanicals, GS Type 2s, and a GS Type 1.

Now this is a good line to take a look at if you like a good amount of great crossing equipment. Love the bell combo at 47:37. Great video.
0:08 I like the sound of those bells
Crossing and the train sounds my favorite
0:39 nice Rio Grande
THAT FIRST LOCOMOTIVE!!!!!???!!!!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWWOWOWOWOW
I love the old Denver and Rio Grande Western locomotive at the beginning! That takes me back!
Love the videos and the content keep up the great work
Great video, interesting variety of crossing equipment and trains. It's nice to see plenty of mechanical bells.
who like this train video I got
McK&H Au
That ex-Rio Grande SD40T in the first clip has the greatest K5LA horn I've ever heard on a freight locomotive. Wow...
41:07 That shine though.
Ha
Probably blinded him
Wow some NS Railroad
Video nya sangat bagus dan bermanfaat yang sangat suka kereta api
I am glad to see so many of the mechanical bells. Not a big fan of the electric bells. Also, some of the rail lines pass literally right by houses. I couldn't imagine living that close to active tracks!

During my "growing up" years, I lived next to an active railroad line in Baton Rouge, LA. There was no grade crossing nearby, so we were spared the direct brunt of the train horn; but the rumble of the locomotives and railcars shook the house! I loved it; spent my summers waiting for and watching trains.
Alot of these trains in the video are particularly slow; I prefer fast trains!
Also, I prefer crossing signals where the bells continue to ring after the gates come down, and throughout the duration of the passing train.
36:18 as the brother of a Michigan Ph.D. candidate, I am well pleased with the person who put a Michigan sticker on the back of his or her car.
I love railroad crossings like the first one how the bell(s) ring when the gates go UP
and the third train had an EMD SD40-2 leading.
And I loooove that crossing on route 579 (6:32)
9:19 Dash-9!

On the second one, the train was so loud, I was growing concerned that the crossing system was not working.
No wonder why the Toledo line has Old Railway Crossings
Why Do NS Crossing Bells Stop Ringing when then gates are lowered????
NS made the bell mechanism stop ringing once it has been lowered. Some crossing bells ring when they go up. I have tracks in my back yard. And A crossing X.
You know as a engineer of 38 years now I feel bad when I have to go thro areas were people houses are right there at the crossing I feel so bad having to wake people up at we hours of the morning and night and not that I don't like these types of videos but I mean what so fascinating about railroad crossing? Lol i mean they all the same lol I mean they all have flashing red lights and a lound bell sometimes I get annoyed with it lmao just kidding the sound of the bell at the crossing and train horn makes me look forward to sitting In that cab and making sure my passengers are having a good time I've also done fright trains to but I like driving passenger trains better
Once you take a closer look into the signaling side of things you’ll understand
Why do NS Use incandescents and not LEDs??
The first clip I did not see crossing gates lowered in the background - or was that grade crossing closed for repairs?
I like trains
Good,I Like Trains 🚊 Too!
I’m crying,
Why
Question of the day what is your favorite train company that makes these modern diesel engines
17:37 - That guy's gonna get stopped by the train ... no, he isn't.
Excellent video. I'm assuming with PSR these trains are insanely long through there now.
Why is the horn like that? 14:48
Nice Catch! The second video has C40-8 Locomotive or was it a B40-8 plus nice Safetran Mechanical Bell.

@@tylerdonitzen6291 that's what I do, stand for 5 hours at a Railroad Crossing. At least there's a signal on one side so I can tell a train is coming.
He uses the radio scanner I would assume

14:58 very weird sounding fouled horn?
What is that first locomotive?! An SD40T? -2 maybe?
Yes, 5413 is an SD40T-2 'Tunnel Motor'. Rio Grande bought 73 of them (5341-5413) during the 70s, and one of them (5371) survived on Union Pacific in un-patched D&RGW paint until 2008! (UP did the smart thing with the 5371 and donated it to a museum in Utah rather than just scrap it.) Wheeling & Lake Erie has a second Rio Grande SD40T-2, 5391, on its roster, and I see them regularly passing through Creston and Smithville, Ohio, near my hometown of Wooster.
Rawson Ohio crossing has no bells??
CSX people are you and your friends
Lol i saw atleast 55 train carts thst had graffiti on it
Nice job!
