I think Phil Hartman might be the most loved and respected guy of his time. Anyone who ever worked with Phil has nothing but love and admiration, both for his skill and for being a wonderful human being.
@@edp3202 Andy Dick offered Phil Hartman's wife Cocaine at a Christmas party when she had been sober for many years. It led to her abusing the drug again and, quite likely, to Phil's murder at her hand. When Lovitz was cast in Newsradio as a replacement for Phil, he saw Dick and, essentially said something like "I wouldn't have this job if it wasn't for you." The beatdown took place in a bar sometime later as Dick came up to Lovitz and friends and made insensitive remarks to him. Then, Jon hit him and smashed Dick's head into the bar repeatedly.

Until this moment I didn't realize Jimmy James and Milton were the same actor. I also realized how provocative the song Lola is today, a song that was released before I was born and I''ve heard probably a thousand times. I'm pretty oblivious.
That Andy Dick story... I read he used to ask people if they wanted to see his wristwatch, which turned out to be exactly what you expect. That's how I picture this interaction for sure.
Newsradio would have been a far more legendary show had it not been for the tragic loss of Phil Hartman. It was just hitting its stride when that happened.
This guy is so talented...funny and can be a great serious actor. I'm bingeing Boardwalk Empire right now and he has a very interesting, minor chatactor.
The simplest of checks shows that the _Breakfast in America_ cover was designed by Mike Doud and Mick Haggerty. Hartman designed covers for other bands but his most lasting creation was the Celtic knot style logo for Crosby, Stills, and Nash which they used for quite a few years.

Hey have your employees pull up the album cover that Phil did instead of sitting there drooling like I am right now. Chip chop chip. You’re getting paid.
Newsradio was such a criminally underrated show. Great ensemble, super-smart dialogue. Really hard to find it streaming anywhere.
Amazon prime has all 5 seasons
Yes but the commentary. I mean those details
That redhead is fire
I wouldn’t call ot underrated. Ot just never had a consistent time slot. It wasn’t given the opportunity to build a audience
Meant “It”. I got fat fingers

Talented exponential.
Damn, the more I learn about Andy Dick the more I appreciate the story of Jon Lovitz beating the crap out of him
Dick is just one of a long line of show biz personalities whose antics far outweighed their talents.

Pardons if I'm wrong, but was Godfrey performing a set at the club during that fight?
Mr. Root is one of my favorites.
Newsradio was an amazing show!!
This channel deserves so many more views. Rich Eisen is an excellent interviewer with amazing guests.
Unfortunately There’s plenty of stories out there of him being a prick to and snubbing fans.
2:00 thank god you brought this up I LOVE this story
and look at them all. good times.
Legend, such a talented actor
He has done so much broad work, from Ghost to True Blood to No Country For Old Men and even played a Klingon in Star Trek The Next Generation ❤️👏👏👏
Dude I was wondering if anyone would pick up that he played that Klingon captain in that 2 parter “Unification”. Yes I need to get out more.
@@austinfrazier7325 When I saw that episode when it first aired I could not tell who the actor playing the Klingon Captain was until the line "...lick that paint right off your ears."
Bank Manager in Seinfeld “I think it’s pine …”
He played 2 different characters in the original Night Court over it's run also.
Great to hear Stephen's memories of Phil.
Stephen can play any part, period.
Jeez. Eisen consistently books the most interesting guests.
The Rip nod was in the first episode. Made me lol.
"Unfortunately Andy Dick"... How half if not seventy five percent of all stories start about Andy Dick.

Loved Phil! 💕 Watching News Radio now.
PS- why would the audience be Prisoners?
The Rip Torn reference in Barry was amazing and then comes back tenfold!
He is one of my favorite actors. Absolute chameleon.

Office space is a classic and will always think of him in that first
Idk ... being a KOTH fan and having watched every episode, it's tough
No sal no sal!
I always think of his character in O' Brother where art thou

Losing Hartman was a tragedy. Trying to fill his absence with that hack Lovitz was a catastrophe.
Yes, Phil's last season is just as funny as the best sitcoms of the '90s, like Simpsons and Seinfeld.
I Miss Phil Hartman he was so so good and yes a great Artist guy could do it all
Root looks amazing for 72.
Dodgeball was a brilliant movie
This guy is so talented...funny and can be a great serious actor. I'm bingeing Boardwalk Empire right now and he has a very interesting, minor chatactor.
He was great in Get Out too.
That guy is in everything
I still watches News Radio! Love it and miss Phil a bunch!
William Fontaine De La Tour Dauterive !
He was right about Phil Hartman being a great artist. Hartman also did the cover for Super Tramp's Breakfast in America album cover.
Not true. However, he did a few covers for the band America. Maybe that's what you mean.

Where’s his stapler?
News Radio was great stuff, the Phil Hartman tragedy stopped it cold, such a pity all around.

At no point leading up to the response did I ever think it was because of anyone other than Andy Dick
Jst freakin realized he’s Melvin on office space

How do you not talk about staplers.

That's a mighty fine a-pickin' and a-singin'!

How do you not ask if he has the red stapler from Office Space?
haha Andy!!! gaddamit
No Country for Old Men
That was a pathetic true or false.
I call foul. There was nothing about 'Dodgeball' or 'Shenanigans' and no "more" whatsoever. I'm clicking 'thumbs down.'
Well that's objectively totally incorrect.
