This is just great! I have very recently started a small computer fixing business and I had the idea to build desktop computers and sell them, just found out I can now build laptops :)
@jasongosen its kinda is but you just need how to open and reassemble your laptop pretty easy after that its just plug screw in resemble then play lol 2 extra steps
@Petchhyyy but in most laptops your stuck with what you get, but in this one you can upgrade parts, remove and or add, its not for the people who use there laptops for facebook and that stuff, probably for gamers people who use there laptops to the fullest
a niche market, the problem with custom built notebooks is size and weight...A manufacturer can sell you a new notebook with modern capability and keep size and weight to a minimum. Something you can't do with standardized assembly it yourself parts. Who would want a modern up to date brick when they can have something like a macbook air?

@ANINJAKITTY09 I think you are a mac-fan-atic because, A: I didn't mention desktop anywhere and, B: I was talking custom built laptops vs pre-built. The mention of the macbook air was merely to emphasize the point that you can't have custom build standard laptop cases and parts that incorporate size and weight reduction as technology evolves and gets smaller.
lets take apart a laptop and sell it back to you!

They are basically just selling a laptop in pieces, it's in no way more customizable than a standard laptop in the sense of the components you can add or take away.
Sure maybe it's a little easier to disassemble and reassemble, but that's not a massive challenge anyway.

Mainly because even the notebooks that have the cards, had very limited models, like 10-15 that work with it, and they all vary in power but no new ones were being made for awhile for the xmx slot or dell slot. Unfortunately you are not going to have current cards to work with it, maybe 4-5 years ago.

I notice they left out 2 extremely important things when they said upgrade ability to the limit of YOUR imagination. First they missed the hard drive but those are obviously upgradeable. What I was thinking is WHAT ABOUT THE FREAKING GRAPHICS CARD? YOU CANT PLAY THE LATEST AND GREATEST GAMES WITHOUT ONE!

i know this is kinda old but YOU CAN Upgrade the CPU, RAM, WIFI Module, HDD / SSD on a Laptop , i Have done it on my Old Laptop and about to Change the CPU on my New one for a better one and i just Upgrade the Wifi Module for a Wifi Module with Bluetooth...

Yeah I am aware some laptops have that. The difference is, and what I was saying to begin with, almost all motherboards in a normal pc support expanable graphics, almost no laptop motherboards do because theres no market for it. I know about XMX slot and dell slot on some laptops.

the problem with building a laptop is the components inside all makes of laptop is always different...
so for example you can't take a compaq laptop mother board and put it into a dell laptop it just wouldn't.

@killer2600 simple....pc is up-gradable, mac isn't, you spend 1000 bucks on a pc, and maybe 300-400 bucks every few years to keep up with hardware, OR, you buy a 2000 dollar macbook, and a few years later you spend another 2000 dollars on another to keep up with hardware, but IM NOT A PC FANBOY :), i own a macbook and a desktop pc :)
they would never promote building your own notebook in 2023... remember when products were for customers and not only the next year?

u know i would love to have super standardize laptops for people that want desktop replacements or not fucking glued in shit.
this way u can also excuse spending way more on a case and keyboard etc... as u could keep it *forever*
instead we got glued battery, soldered ram, ireplaceable and not compatible cpu and gpu and the shit goes on.....
just think how nice it would be having a laptop for 10 years as simple repair is possible and compatibility is secured.
and btw 10 years isn't such a huge step nowadays as cpu progression has slowed down and the average day user has *enough* to browse the web, work etc....
I just... Don't get it. I thought this was a great idea, until I found out no discrete graphics slot or announcing upgradable graphics cards. Sigh... Only thing that would make it worth wild, the one thing that isn't upgradable in notebooks and why people hate notebooks for gaming.

@Furetgarcon Its funny, I was talking to a friend about doing this who had build his own PC and when I told him I wanted to build my own laptop, he looked at me like its impossible. I am still optimistic in attempting this when the money comes up.

Let's talk about basic tech and never once mention where to buy it on the website, why not link stuff like this in description with a laptop builder supported on the website for combustibility. With import image to customize A-plates ect. This could have revolutionized laptop gaming but noo intel has to be complete stupid on this front. Granted 2008 was 8 years ago but still to this day people would rather spend money building a custom laptop then buying pre-builds. As everyone has a diffrent budget, at this point we might as well just g fund desktop gaming and use new streaming tech to play on are old shitty laptops using a gaming desktop as a hub.

I'm confused, cant anyone build a laptop? All you have to do is buy the parts and put them together, hell if you have knowledge in electronics you could make all the parts yourself, right?
