    Brilliant and useful test Ollie! I'm sure this will help a lot of folks out with their filter decisions. Really good to see the difference side by side, and by by Halos with the Antlia! The Ha colour shift between the two was also very interesting to see! P.s. the more dad jokes the better mate :D

      Gday Chris, Thanks mate! I thought I'm gonna do this straight out of the blocks with the Horse head still available. Will be good to now see a fully stacked image with this filter and yes interesting on that colour change. Noted on the Dad jokes, I think Dad astro jokes have the ultimate cringe to them as well so even better:)

    Good video Ollie, really good to see side by side comparisons. I have become an Antlia fan of late buying the LRGB and SHO 3nm sets. All have performed brilliantly. That one you have looks like a keeper and will bring you some great results. Clear skies

      Cheers Glenn, I do find myself having a bit more confidence now in the Antlia filters and yes I can see in the community they seem to be something people gravitate towards. I'm certainly impressed by this one.

      It's such a great filter man👍, I still use the extreme a bit(when I'm using two rigs) but only on wider focal lengths where it's not noticed so much.

    Like you, this filter was on my radar for the same reasons. I did get an IDAS NBZ UHS for using with the Rasa11 and there is definitely halo improvements with it over my previous filters. I'll have to do some more testing and see which way I go, as I still have the other scopes running at the same time. Thanks Ollie!

    • @OlliesSpace
      @OlliesSpace  2 года назад

      Gday Dave - I was actually looking at that IDAS NBZ filter too as I'd heard good things about it. I understand with the faster scopes it's also not as easy, I think for example the l-eNhance is recommended for those faster F2 systems. So many options and variables and the whole time the money flows out the door 😬.

      Hey Joe - Yes I think you're right about manufacturers raising their game. I wonder if Cuiv has scared them all with his recent video when he did his tests, I've seen recently he's even got his hands on a testing machine!!! I feel like a lot of people speak highly on Antlia which gave me that confidence to give this a go. Cheers and clear skies!

    Hi Ollie,
    WOW ... that Antlia Gold is by far the better filter. Yes, it is a rather steep price, but I just might need to save my pennies (many of them) to get this filter. Thank you for your review. Oh, and BTW, I have been plagued with clouds here too ... SE US

The weather here continues to be very cloudy, weeks since even a half clear night. Clear skies soon hopefully 🙏

    It’s a huge difference. It’s even more graduated rather than a sharp outline. In this case you’ve made it obvious. What’s great about guys running tests like yours is that it forces the producers of these filters to step up their game. Years ago they only had to worry about articles on Cloudy Nights lol. I absolutely love social media for this reason. The consumers voice is everything. The only problem is you get a few hardheaded folks who don’t review things like the AZ-GTI. Really disappointed I don’t get to see another video on it. Lol!!! Keep your course That’s a pretty good print. I’m jealous of the Dolphin on the wall. I’ve given up completely on anything remotely broadband from here. More people have come. They brought street lights and neglected dogs. It looks like a Walmart parking lot and sounds like a kennel.

    • @OlliesSpace
      @OlliesSpace  2 года назад

      Hey Garnett ! Yes indeed it was really cool to see such a strong difference in the Halo effect. I think like you say it's good we all call these issues out. I would expect Optolong must have sorted this out for the Ultimate filter. Shame about those neighbors, I always imagine you to be semi rural with a big back yard. I also can't do broadband on anything faint especially to my North just gets washed out. Ye I really like that Dolphin, let me know if you want one I'll email you a copy.

    Great comparison. The Antlia clearly handles halos better but here in the UK costs over £150 more than the L-Extreme so I suppose it depends how much halos on brighter stars bother you.

      Hey Clive - Ye exactly it all comes down to that at the end of the day, some images it doesn't make too much difference. I'll be interested to see how much those couple of NM make to the overall stacking too when I get a full set of data

I took my scope there for the first time over easter and shot a few targets...OMG the difference is pretty amazing. I dont currently use any filters and I am using a 533MC Pro as well with a WO GT-71. I think after seeing this I would certainly consider the Antila filter even just to get that better Ha. Hey, sir. Since the Ultimate has been out, have you given it a try? How does it hold up to the ALP-T?
    I know it’s even narrower, just wondering if it reaches the point of being so narrow that it makes alignment/plate-solving difficult. I’m debating the Extreme and ALP-T right now for first narrowband filter. I’ve heard there are no plate-solving issues with Extreme .. any with Antlia or Ultimate (if you’ve tried it)?

      Hey there - I have not tried the Ultimate. Since I got the Antlia filter it's been great for OSC so I've felt no reason to change. I think with any plate solving issues you would just increase your exposure time up to like 10 seconds for example.
