Considering how terrifyingly effective legends Grievous was, it's fun to see him in matchups where combatants unexpectedly have a skill configuration that enables them to contend with him, if not outright beat him.
Given that this is Legends Grevious and Baas being pretty unimpressive from memory I'm predicting Grievous has this one in the bag Edit: Okay so Grievous taking the win was basically assured from the get-go but I must admit I definitely slept on Baas too hard and this video did a good job pointing out that Baas wouldn't have gone down immediately.
Win or lose, I'd pay good money to see the look on Grievous' face when he rocks up on a little old lobster man only to get tossed back with a crack in the breastplate by his walking stick. If anything, the possibility of Grievous losing his nerve against a prepared, stalwart Jedi opponent undaunted by his regular strategies and pulling out tricks he's never seen before is probably Baas' best chance at a victory by driving off if not defeating his opponent.
This has been a matchup you announced a while back. Glad to see it come to fruition. On the one hand, Baas has difficulty adapting to things outside of his knowledge base and overwhelming offensive pressure. And Im pretty sure Grevious 4 blade RNG onslaught Is outside of Baas's knowledge base and has the sheer output to turn Baas into a crab cake (or a lobster roll). Baas isn't super proactive with force abilities and Battle Meditation + Sever force aren't really effective. Plus Grevious trained his Magnaguards how to use staffs so the quarterstaff is nothing new. But on the other hand, Baas can easily steal one of Grevious's blades allowing lightsaber + quarterstaff combo and could contend (and maybe has the odds to beat) dual blade Grevious. But is basically screwed against quad blade style. Interesting matchup given the physicalities and knowledge base. On a tangent, Kun vs Grevious is a matchup Ive thought about every now and then due to their unique weaponry and both being trickster type fighters. Given Kun's ego and need to upstage everyone, Kun would go pure lightsaber combat which is great for Grevious because otherwise Kun stomps on the back of his force abilities. I was rereading the stark hyperspace war because I wanted to do an analysis of Tyvokka (specifically his combat and Force abilities). Unfortunately the comic doesn’t provide much information. In the 2 panels we see him with his lightsaber we see him execute Sun Djem by cutting a blaster pistol in two, in the other he has no distinguishable guard and his body is completely exposed to the blaster fire coming from the battle droids. I could forgive this as the droids we’re supposed to be on his side but Gunray messed up and ordered his droids to “shoot them all” Outside of combat, a conversation between Tyvokka and Plo Koon implies that Tyvokka struggles with his Wookiee temper at times and Plo would often test his master’s ability to control that temper. Doubtful since he displayed no skill with the style but it’s calm eye of the storm mindset could go hand in hand with his ability to remain in the present but perceive all possible outcomes to a situation (Circle of Shelter) Form IV? Again doubtful and the least likely given his depiction in the story: no acrobatics and no integration of physical combat Form V? A huge towering Wookiee, a species known for their sheer physical strength would make Tyvokka a natural Djem So stylist Form VI? I would say this is highly likely given his presence to use the Force first (also his using the table as a shield is replicated by Plo Koon years later in the season 2 finale of TCW). Form VII? No signs but the thought of a raging Wookiee Jedi Master embracing Form VII is a scary thought As for Force abilities is Tyvokka a master of the Shatterpoint ability? His natural ability to perceive all possible outcomes to any situation and the way he shatters that heavy table made me think that he perceived the weakest points of the furniture and was able to shatter it with a single blast of the Force.
I suspect that he might've been a form V user with some training in form VI. Like you mentioned, wookies are known for their physical strength and the style would've suited Tyvokka. Form VI would've also been his preferred style since he likely adopted this form to hybridize with the lightsaber styles as well as the integration of his force abilities. Great video, very well reasoned. A few points for consideration .Baas's duels against Exar Kun were fought under very different circumstances, with him trying to talk Kun down both times rather than aiming to kill. Which might affect the results. . Baas's stone breaking feat, combined with his likely greater familiarity with armoured combat, means that his staff would potentially be a devastating weapon against Grievous. Awesome video! Have you ever considered doing a match-up between Vodo-Siosk Baas and Shredder from the TMNT franchise (specifically from his appearances in the Mirage comics)?
Something you fail to consider was that, Vodo was holding back in his first duel we see with Kun. This is made abundantly clear due to, not only context, but primarily due to Kun then growing immensely in skill and power by the time they duel their final time, and how well Vodo does against a significantly more skilled and powerful Kun. And Kun by their final duel is drastically above Grievous.
Amazing video man. Would you consider making a vs video with Kam Solusar considering that we now have more information on his fighting style with the recent release of lightsider?
You could also propose this Evan, since he's the expert on New Republic-NJO Era characters. On the other hand, the release of Lightsider also means more material on Sedriss as well.
I don't think Grievous would open with quad wielding. If I remember correctly, the novelization of RotS basically said that Grievous went straight to quad blades because he had observed and heard about Obi-Wans legendary blade skills.
great video! was quite interesting, although it kinda sounds like you are far away from the mike, or its muffled? unsure, im not an audiophile. Have you ever considered ranking all the characters you have done versus on? might be an interesting video, although i know its more of a rock paper scissors thing than ranking
he technically sort of did with the post mortem and the seven tiers made when he and fanalysis were all active together, but its outdated and he and evan no longer agrees with certain character's placements
Jen, if you see this I'm thinking my may like Exar vs Windu! I can't come up with an obvious winner. I previously thought that Kun fights with rage but then when analyzing his saberstaff technique I can't tell whether this would give Windu the needed vappad boost and if he does get the boost will Kun be able to use his force abilities to make up the difference? They just seem so balanced
Feel free to call me a dumbass but do you have an opinion on the matchup of Malak vs Shaak Ti? It's in my head and I would enjoy if the idea was entertained by someone else.
Darth Malak Vs. Shaak Ti is an excellent candidate for a short form video. Malak's advantage is obvious, but narrow, because Shaak Ti has an answer for everything he's bringing on.
Aah! One of my favorite Jedi's Vs my favorite SW character in general pftt! No doubt an unconventional clash but very inspired! Even if Grievous would be the victor, i'm sure the killer cyborg would be thrown off and confused over the skill of Vodo and the power staff. I can imagine him the general getting thacked in the head a few times and be wised cracked to by vodo before going into a bloodlusted rage
Actually, I've been toying with using Gnost-Dural ever since TOR: Annihilation was published, and with his prominent appearance in the recent expansions, I now have visual material to work with.
I’m so excited for LEGENDS Grievous content. I wonder what Darth Vader would have been like with a more mobile configuration of cybernetics like Grievous. Imagine if Darth Vader could react to force attacks like general grievous, and dodge Sidious lightening. I want to know if he could beat Palpy.
You're overthinking it a bit. Force wielders could react and dodge attacks. Grievous also didn't avoid sidious's fighting much less actually combating him in a hypothetical scenario
@@johnzhou3860 force wielded aren’t Darth Vader and no one at Sidious’ level has ever been able to dodge his lightening. Darth Vader scales to reacting to light speed, but his cybernetics are like a lightening rod. Of course he’ll be buffed if his maneuverability is increased to, if not peak human, Grievous level.
Baas can potentially get an instant win with sever force (that ability is hax against darksiders). But Vong Infested Krayt is basically dual blade exar kun but more skilled, experienced, and physically stronger (Krayt stamina is ass but Baas is older than dirt). So I think Krayt has the odds in his favor but Baas would put up a good fight and wouldnt get stomped. Reborn Krayt would probably stomp but Baas stomps if he opens with Sever Force.
@Wes Bradley-Taubner Completely agree. Baas has only used Sever force when he has allies and prep. And given Krayt's power, Baas ability to use sever force against him is questionable. Dark Transfer is super hax and TOD every one except Cade.
Grievous is gonna break his stick and run him through if exar kun could pressure him enough to destroy his staff a cybernetic rage driven 4 armed jedi killbot will do the trick.
Exar kun at that time as a mare jedi knight escalate far above naga sadow and freedon nadd both sith are confirmed to be star 🌟 boosters and could endure super novas, exar kun mastered dark rage far better than any sith and dark rage is force Valor in steroids
Kun escalate far above bane and the quote of malak being more powerful than kun was debunked and reckon in the omnibus "evil never dies" in 2006 so exar kun is leagues above malak and revan even vitiate
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 I haven't read Kun's comic, but from what I've heard (mostly from Jen's videos) he was a light saber prodigy, and an extremely powerful force user in his physical prime. Bane's a very orthodox fighter, and I think that Kun's trakata might catch him off guard, and he wouldn't have a meaningful strength advantage. I'm not sure how well Kun would deal with his lightning or more esoteric attacks though. Also, Kun is nowhere near Vitiate when it comes to force power.
@@drachna Jen confirmed a while back that its happening. It's that he and Evan are far too busy, especially since Evan confirmed that the skywalker ranking video is in recording recently
If Baas was younger in his equivalent to 30-40’s, Grievous would be in the fight of his life. I still imagine Grievous would win the majority of the time. But given Baas’ baseline we know of for a fact, he’s in trouble. However I feel the most likely scenario is that Grievous flees after realizing that he isn’t getting anywhere psychologically and Baas’ own physicality unnerving Grievous. But if they had to duke it out till death, Grievous is the most likely victor.

Jedi Master Dooku is too speculative to even make a matchup of his level of skill. He definitely retains his mastery of Makashi and was stated to be equal to yoda and was a TK prodigy but we don't know where he stands in comparison to his Dark side counterpart
@@lapplandkun9273 Given that Jedi Master Dooku before and during TPM Circa was still unable to be bested by a superior form seven user in Mace even before fully mastering Vaapad and Shatterpoint Mace was still the superior Juyo user to Maul in there sparring matches and was the person closest to besting Yoda as a Jedi Master in Saber combat meaning his force speed was already high extreme level and given also that he was able to easily win contests, tournaments, challenges, and prize workings based on telekinesis, force shields, and force barriers as a nine year old Jedi Initiate and even gave Yoda slight competition and Dooku only became more gifted, skilled, and powerful as a Padawan, Knight, And Master as well as being considered the most learned in the ways of the force and probably having Tutiminus as a Jedi given he was taught by Yoda himself and that he was high leveled in force healing I would say Jedi Master Dooku would be one of the few Jedi along with Yoda And Mace and maybe Plo Koon that would of been able to beat TPM Maul based on both pure skill and power and variety yeah.

While Kenobi has shown to deal with the saberstaff well, Cal's use of trakata is something that kenobi hasn't faced before. Even Fallen Order Cal would likely win due to his advancing level of skill and adaptation while Kenobi's win against maul was extremely circumstantial and due to maul's overwhelming arrogance on his part

Wait, Lightsider has finally been released!?
@@Jensaarai1 Yes, it was leaked on Reddit. Too bad I can't send a link without YT taking down my comments

Can you see this ?
@@Jensaarai1 it's been floating around for a while. There are a couple of revised versions but i think it's pretty easy to find
Are you going to do a post mortem on Baas anytime soon?
Rob terra did this already. Mace wins because of Vaapad.
Recommendation for a future match up
Xanatos vs the second Sister
Feel free to call me a dumbass but do you have an opinion on the matchup of Malak vs Shaak Ti? It's in my head and I would enjoy if the idea was entertained by someone else.
Darth Malak Vs. Shaak Ti is an excellent candidate for a short form video. Malak's advantage is obvious, but narrow, because Shaak Ti has an answer for everything he's bringing on.
@@Jensaarai1 I would be elated to see this in the future!
This was a much more interesting matchup than I initially thought (owing primarily to my limited knowledge of Vodo Siosk Baas)
Aah! One of my favorite Jedi's Vs my favorite SW character in general pftt! No doubt an unconventional clash but very inspired! Even if Grievous would be the victor, i'm sure the killer cyborg would be thrown off and confused over the skill of Vodo and the power staff.
I can imagine him the general getting thacked in the head a few times and be wised cracked to by vodo before going into a bloodlusted rage
what do you think of cad bane?
Great video man 🎉.
But I ask could you se Vodo siosk baas winning against Yoda? In a duel?
Can you do a VS battle with Arcann?
I always want to call him Frodo-Siosk Baas, lol - "Mr Vodo", etc... ;o)
Please make a video of Anakin Skywalker vs Darth Malgus🙏🥺
What about Darth Zannah vs Darth malidi
Have you considered using gnost dural in your versus series
Gnost Dural is probably like Darth Marr, not a terrible lot of information about eithet that could be used.
Actually, I've been toying with using Gnost-Dural ever since TOR: Annihilation was published, and with his prominent appearance in the recent expansions, I now have visual material to work with.
ah geez I forgot he was in that book
I wonder how a fight between Baas and Krayt would go. This analysis makes me think Baas could stand a chance.
Exar kun vs general grievous?
Grievous is gonna break his stick and run him through if exar kun could pressure him enough to destroy his staff a cybernetic rage driven 4 armed jedi killbot will do the trick.
Exar kun at that time as a mare jedi knight escalate far above naga sadow and freedon nadd both sith are confirmed to be star 🌟 boosters and could endure super novas, exar kun mastered dark rage far better than any sith and dark rage is force Valor in steroids
Any ETA on Bane vs Kun
I don't think that's going to happen at this point.
Can you do a Plo Koon vs Darth Vader Anniversary?
Too bad Grievous doesn't have enough room in his cape for a Force-imbued quarterstaff. 😜
Yeah, but he's got an Electrostaff stashed on his Monowheel.
My interest is peaked.

No because you could still say luke wins and its a matchup between two of the strongest force wielders in history that isn't interesting to talk about
Could one actually pick up on the Generals “style”? It was very sporadic and unpredictable. I think his robot brain literally randomized each attack or something like that.
Makashi-inspired Jar'Kai Niman, broadly speaking.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 oh, so he just randomized known form movements as opposed to making wildly unconventional random attacks.
@@CalvinBloopers Pretty much, in fact, he's described mimicking Mace's Vaapad during Labyrinth of Evil, worried him enough to resort to Force powers.
so would you do this match up satele shan vs legends Darth Vader both in there prime
Vader
@@lapplandkun9273you know satele shan is a jedi grand master and vader has never fought a jedi grand master before as far as I know
@@zacktaft Vader still wins then. Satele isn't bringing anything to the table Vader hasn't already seen before (ataru speed fencer in a similar mold to Anya kuro and Ahsoka). Her saberstaff also isn't even a major advantage as Vader as Anakin fought against saberstaff users. Her force abilities would only at best stall for time.
@@lapplandkun9273 are you saying that because of his past experience with a darth maul training droid and the temple guards in the attack on the temple
@@zacktaft against a maul hologram and savage oppress and against a maul doppelgänger? Yes. Satele isn’t doing anything Vader hasn’t seen before. At best, she’ll land blows on him, but Vader would still outlast her.

Grievous: I'll Just cut this *is about to slice up the Pizza the jedi ordered*

You should of do one of Jedi Master Dooku Vs TPM Maul both of there original, initial, rooting, and before Legends Expanded Universe versions and not TCW CGI Series retcons yeah.
From what we have on vodo
It seems his main practiced lightsaber form's are soresu, ataru and nimian
I agree with Niman, but I always envisioned his support styles as being Shii-Cho and Makashi.
His broad sweeps match with Form 1, his emphasis on unbalancing opponents fits with Form 2, and both forms focus on disarms.
@@Jensaarai1 I agree with the makashi part , but my main thing with him being a practice in ataru comes from his sheer speed bursts and his noted master level acrobatics ,

Cal kestis vs padawan Obi Wan Kenobi
I would have to say Cal by the time of Jedi Survivor. Cal's unique weaponry would give him the edge and he has more range of applicable force abilities.
Exar Kun versus Darth Kryat
