Mafuyu's mother might have been through a situation where she went against her parents's wishes to pursue her own dream. I don't know for sure, but, her dream could've been something like a career based on her hobby or something that have no certainty and stability for the future like Mafuyu who wanted to make music. However, i can guess that it didn't went well and she regretted to ever go against her parents's wishes and she wanted to make sure Mafuyu didn't go through the same thing as she did. Even if that's the case, that doesn't justify her own actions towards Mafuyu. Taking away Mafuyu's precious things and isolating her from her friends, that's complete mental abuse and over the top controlling parenting. And, the worst of them all, what makes her so sure that Mafuyu will find certain misfortune if she wanted to pursue a career in music? She already failed as a parent the moment she decided on that without listening to her child's feelings and wishes. Because that's the same as wishing misfortunes to fall on her own child from the start.
Man this story killed me. When she ran away to Kanade it made me cry so much, having that one person there, that you know you can go to, and they'll always be there with open arms. i think that the "throwing away the mask" theme in this event kinda goes both ways. mafuyu threw away her mask, that is obvious. but i think that mafuyus mom kinda threw away her mask too, when she got so mad that she couldnt keep her composure anymore. and by doing that mafuyu saw the true side of her that isnt hidden behind sweet manipulative words, and started to question if she rlly cares about her.
This was one of the most intense niigo events and event in general, It felt so real that I could basically feel what Mafuyu feels. Props to the writers for a proper buildup, for not rushing the story considering how hard it is to open up after wearing a mask the whole time. The new cards are also amazing, they show that mafuyu finally cuts these marionette strings and breaks her mask, but it causes so much pain, guilt and doubt. Also I wonder what mafumom is gonna do next, just let her kid figure things out for herself inatead of spoon feeding her with her own desires cause that ain't gonna work anymore, or just transform into her final form idk. Overall 10/10 event. And thanks for speedrunning translations Meltdown! Take as much rest as you need!
i'm so sad over the fact that mafuyu blames herself for the selfishness of her mother's actions. Sega rlly put so much effort into making mafuyu's mother's character so well written and I'm amazed at how she is so skilled in many forms of manipulations (not in a good way ofc). literally shivered from this events on how amazing scripted it was. This is the first time i cried on a story event because of how relatable it was, the writing in this is so well written it's so accurate it made me tear up 😭

But I doubt she can heal so fast because realistically she still have to struggle with her mom's control (blatant, no longer manipulation), but still feeling guilty, even worse because she'll probably further restrict her. The story might feel lengthy, but it's the most realistic thing to happen since ms.Asahina doesn't think it's her fault

I actually teared up bruh. Mafuyu is going to need to grieve the potential loss of her relationship with her mother. It’s not Mafuyu’s fault it needed to happen. I’m just begging the mother to actually reflect and take accountability because the loss hurts bad. It sometimes hits hard when you learn your parent never changed even after it costed a relationship with their kid. It just feels like they never loved you but loved obedience.
yknow, im VERY thankful that Kanade, Ena and Mizuki live in pretty much the same area as Mafuyu now that I think about it, because if not.. Mafuyu would have a much harder time leaving this hellhole.. or even end up in a much worse situation..

Okay but I can kinda understand mafuyu’s feelings towards her mother. Her mother speaks in a very calm manner and uses sweet words, and also makes her child’s favourite food like how anyone would expect a kind mother to be like, and on top of that mafuyu has a kind personality that wants to make everyone happy at all costs, so if I were her I think I would probably be manipulated as well.
The room looking so bleak really puts Mafuyu as the main focus, and really makes her look like she really hates where she is and the environment she is in is absoloutley lifeless

I'm bawling my eyes out, this is so well-written that it hurts, but Mafuyu must be feeling 100x worse... T_T Seeing Mafuyu struggles to do this, wanting to obey her mother but remembering what Mizuki, Ena and Kanade said to her, pushed by Miku singing Kanade's song that we haven't heard since niigo's main story, and _finally_ stop denying that her home is now a place that only suffocates her... Mafuyu did it. She ran away, just like Mizuki suggested. But there's no cheers or relief, no moment of triumph. There is only confusion and pain for Mafuyu, questioning why she did it and whether she was at fault for things to go this way as Kanade found her in the rain... And then that ending video. Of a phone falling into an aquarium, broken, with the words: *"Chasing your light, at **25:00**"* The first step is always the hardest and the most painful, but Mafuyu had taken it. And she'd have the support of everyone in niigo as she chases after that light. Godspeed Mafuyu.

the main reason mafuyus mom doesn’t see error in her ways is likely because she’s a narcissist. not sayjng she has NPD. but just has qualities of a narcissistic parent. i see her actions a lot in my own mother. i feel for mafuyu. eventually you gotta break free and it’s painful.

I teared up so much over this story multiple times, it’s so scary how well written and relatable this is. It cut me so deep when Mafuyu finally spilled the tea to her mom that she doesn’t want to be a doctor and how she kept blaming herself and saying that everything was her fault, but it’s all her mom’s fault for her inability to actually take a moment and understand things from Mafuyu’s viewpoint or even consider how she’s feeling. She’s emotionally abusing her own daughter and all the signs show- isolation, gaslighting, etc. This event is so good I swear, the VA’s went all out on this. Or… Let’s view from Mafuyu’s mother’s perspective- We focused too much on Mafuyu bc a lot of us relates to her- Mafuyu’s mother seems to be, overprotective on Mafuyu. Because of her own mistake she made during childhood. 2:19, She seems to want Mafuyu know that, not studying during school days may makes you regret. She seems to be regretting her choice when she was a kid. She might skipped school, not studying. She might played too much, neglecting studies. But it’s too late for her to change when she realised that studying is what ‘makes life better’. She doesn’t want Mafuyu to walk on the same path as herself did. She’s right that she cared for her, but in the wrong way. She thought only playing once will make you completely addicted to it like drugs. *Let’s say it in a metaphor.* • There’s a hole called ‘misunderstanding’ on a surface Mafuyu’s mom thought was perfectly fine. • She doesn’t want anyone to fill the hole as she was certain that she is the one being correct. • That hole was formed after she realising her mistakes. She realised there were too many holes and wanted to fill them. But she cannot that she decided to make them as one bigger hole. It’s like you’re certain that your destiny is completely alright, but it’s ugly in others’ perspective. But the designer just wouldn’t accept it.
When Mafuyu and Kanade met up I started to cry and then when the arc ender started I burst into tears. This hit so close to home to my own situation growing up. Even now, I'm still stuck. I hope Mafuyu can get away from her forever and live with Kanade. That's where she's safe. That's where she feels warmth, along with being with the rest of Niigo and the Empty Sekai VS's. Miku feels like motherly but also like a sister to Mafuyu while Kaito is definitely the "If you hurt her, run." kind of older brother figure to Mafuyu. I can't wait for the third arc. Hopefully we see Mafuyu be free from this witch, Mizuki being able to open up to Niigo, Ena to get further with her art, and for Kanade...hopefully her father will wake up and get better. Its actually scary how you could see, even feel mafuyu expressing herself. Idk how they did it but for a while there u could tell mafuyu wasn't empty, u could tell she didn't feel alone. The warmth from everyone of nightcord really reached her 😭

Miku’s singing to mafuyu was so pretty even if it was like 2 seconds long it’s was soo pretty. I’m so proud of this whole group and especially mafuyu. She has done so much with the help of her friends and the vocaloids. This story definitely shows how a lot of people feel, it comforts me when my life is a little like hers.
Wow, it happen!! This has been such a roller-coaster and Mafuyu's story is still not over, but for now she is going to rest. I bet the moment she is out that house her marks are going to go up again. It's going to be a little bit awkward when Honami comes to clean and make lunch. Who knows maybe she even help make it and maybe an extra pair of eyes can make Kanade take care of herself more. we can all agree on mafuyu's mother's backward logic...but the way that mafuyu just accepts it as fact is scary. cuz you know, honour students are trained in eng, math etc all the subjects that require logical understanding, and she'd probably be able to pick out the gaslights if presented to her in some written format, a test, idk... it just goes to show her mother's abuse has a purely emotional handle on her, which she isn't used to, and that's why it's trapping :(((( the flashback to bug story was sad :(((((

It really is a well written event. As a child my mum wasn’t nearly as abusive or manipulative as Mafuyu’s but I could really relate to her story especially about becoming a doctor or not going down other career choices. I honestly almost teared up when Kanade was comforting Mafuyu 😭

I feel like Mafuy's mom is the only side character who deserved her own event story, at least one. I really wanted to know what happened to her in the past. Perhaps she was like Mafuyu. She find a treasure being friend with someone, gave up on her dream, yet, that friend "betrayed" her. She doesn't want that happened to in Mafuyu, so that's why she became very strict to Mafuyu. You can hate her all you want, but I think she is genuinely care about Mafuyu. That's what makes her very compelling antagonist in PJSK. Damn it, PJSK really cooking in N25 story, man.
I'd love if the direction the writers are going to take for Mafuyu's future is to make her an actual nurse, but still be able to do music with Niigo, because that would show us that no effort (Making songs AND learning to become a doctor) has been lost

I really hope the next one for niigo is about Mizuki and them opening up to Niigo cause that seems like what would naturally come next in the story but we won't know till after the third anniversary.

i think that the "throwing away the mask" theme in this event kinda goes both ways. mafuyu threw away her mask, that is obvious. but i think that mafuyus mom kinda threw away her mask too, when she got so mad that she couldnt keep her composure anymore. and by doing that mafuyu saw the true side of her that isnt hidden behind sweet manipulative words, and started to question if she rlly cares about her.

This was one of the most intense niigo events and event in general, It felt so real that I could basically feel what Mafuyu feels. Props to the writers for a proper buildup, for not rushing the story considering how hard it is to open up after wearing a mask the whole time. The new cards are also amazing, they show that mafuyu finally cuts these marionette strings and breaks her mask, but it causes so much pain, guilt and doubt. Also I wonder what mafumom is gonna do next, just let her kid figure things out for herself inatead of spoon feeding her with her own desires cause that ain't gonna work anymore, or just transform into her final form idk. Overall 10/10 event.

@@orianashi9919the more strings she broke, the more it hurts, mafuyu already have an unhealthy attachment out of fear and guilt to her mother, to heal she needs to break first which is inevitable. But I doubt she can heal so fast because realistically she still have to struggle with her mom's control (blatant, no longer manipulation), but still feeling guilty, even worse because she'll probably further restrict her. The story might feel lengthy, but it's the most realistic thing to happen since ms.Asahina doesn't think it's her fault

I actually teared up bruh. Mafuyu is going to need to grieve the potential loss of her relationship with her mother. It’s not Mafuyu’s fault it needed to happen. I’m just begging the mother to actually reflect and take accountability because the loss hurts bad. It sometimes hits hard when you learn your parent never changed even after it costed a relationship with their kid. It just feels like they never loved you but loved obedience.
yknow, im VERY thankful that Kanade, Ena and Mizuki live in pretty much the same area as Mafuyu now that I think about it, because if not.. Mafuyu would have a much harder time leaving this hellhole.. or even end up in a much worse situation..

Okay but I can kinda understand mafuyu’s feelings towards her mother. Her mother speaks in a very calm manner and uses sweet words, and also makes her child’s favourite food like how anyone would expect a kind mother to be like, and on top of that mafuyu has a kind personality that wants to make everyone happy at all costs, so if I were her I think I would probably be manipulated as well.
The room looking so bleak really puts Mafuyu as the main focus, and really makes her look like she really hates where she is and the environment she is in is absoloutley lifeless

I'm bawling my eyes out, this is so well-written that it hurts, but Mafuyu must be feeling 100x worse... T_T
Seeing Mafuyu struggles to do this, wanting to obey her mother but remembering what Mizuki, Ena and Kanade said to her, pushed by Miku singing Kanade's song that we haven't heard since niigo's main story, and _finally_ stop denying that her home is now a place that only suffocates her... Mafuyu did it. She ran away, just like Mizuki suggested.
But there's no cheers or relief, no moment of triumph. There is only confusion and pain for Mafuyu, questioning why she did it and whether she was at fault for things to go this way as Kanade found her in the rain... And then that ending video. Of a phone falling into an aquarium, broken, with the words:
*"Chasing your light, at **25:00**"*
The first step is always the hardest and the most painful, but Mafuyu had taken it. And she'd have the support of everyone in niigo as she chases after that light.

It's sad because mafuyus mother figured what she's doing is right. But that's not the case. Mafuyu should follow her heart's desire and stay with 25nji. I'm glad mafuyu ran away and kanade comforted her 🙂🙂💗💗.

I teared up so much over this story multiple times, it’s so scary how well written and relatable this is. It cut me so deep when Mafuyu finally spilled the tea to her mom that she doesn’t want to be a doctor and how she kept blaming herself and saying that everything was her fault, but it’s all her mom’s fault for her inability to actually take a moment and understand things from Mafuyu’s viewpoint or even consider how she’s feeling. She’s emotionally abusing her own daughter and all the signs show- isolation, gaslighting, etc.
This event is so good I swear, the VA’s went all out on this. Thank you so much for the translation Meltdown!

2:19, She seems to want Mafuyu know that, not studying during school days may makes you regret.
She seems to be regretting her choice when she was a kid.
She might skipped school, not studying. She might played too much, neglecting studies. But it’s too late for her to change when she realised that studying is what ‘makes life better’.
She doesn’t want Mafuyu to walk on the same path as herself did. She’s right that she cared for her, but in the wrong way. She thought only playing once will make you completely addicted to it like drugs.
*Let’s say it in a metaphor.*
• There’s a hole called ‘misunderstanding’ on a surface Mafuyu’s mom thought was perfectly fine.
• She doesn’t want anyone to fill the hole as she was certain that she is the one being correct.
• That hole was formed after she realising her mistakes. She realised there were too many holes and wanted to fill them. But she cannot that she decided to make them as one bigger hole.
It’s like you’re certain that your destiny is completely alright, but it’s ugly in others’ perspective. But the designer just wouldn’t accept it.
I started crying oh my gosh between mafuyu running away and kanade hugging her in the rain
When Mafuyu and Kanade met up I started to cry and then when the arc ender started I burst into tears. This hit so close to home to my own situation growing up. Even now, I'm still stuck. I hope Mafuyu can get away from her forever and live with Kanade. That's where she's safe. That's where she feels warmth, along with being with the rest of Niigo and the Empty Sekai VS's.
Miku feels like motherly but also like a sister to Mafuyu while Kaito is definitely the "If you hurt her, run." kind of older brother figure to Mafuyu.
I can't wait for the third arc. Hopefully we see Mafuyu be free from this witch, Mizuki being able to open up to Niigo, Ena to get further with her art, and for Kanade...hopefully her father will wake up and get better. Maybe he can help Kanade and Mafuyu against mafumom. idk and sorry for the rambling lmao

Tbh, Kanade's father's recovery after so many years in which there was no indication of it would be a more of "fantasy" story than Sekai's existence.
Its actually scary how you could see, even feel mafuyu expressing herself. Idk how they did it but for a while there u could tell mafuyu wasn't empty, u could tell she didn't feel alone. The warmth from everyone of nightcord really reached her 😭
The piano in the background with the strong rain is beautiful during that heartbreaking scene
Honestly without the BGM in most of the story here, It feels so chiling, scary and very emotional, it does a very good job on building up the tension

Miku’s singing to mafuyu was so pretty even if it was like 2 seconds long it’s was soo pretty. I’m so proud of this whole group and especially mafuyu. She has done so much with the help of her friends and the vocaloids. This story definitely shows how a lot of people feel, it comforts me when my life is a little like hers.

Wow, it happen!! This has been such a roller-coaster and Mafuyu's story is still not over, but for now she is going to rest. I bet the moment she is out that house her marks are going to go up again. It's going to be a little bit awkward when Honami comes to clean and make lunch. Who knows maybe she even help make it and maybe an extra pair of eyes can make Kanade take care of herself more. It would be like that fan comic. So, who is going to be the next focused arc? I think an arc is going to be Mizuki.
It was shown in an area conversation that Mafuyu went to SEKAI when Honami showed up to clean. Perhaps not wanting to be seen just yet.

It really is a well written event. As a child my mum wasn’t nearly as abusive or manipulative as Mafuyu’s but I could really relate to her story especially about becoming a doctor or not going down other career choices. I honestly almost teared up when Kanade was comforting Mafuyu 😭

I feel like Mafuy's mom is the only side character who deserved her own event story, at least one. I really wanted to know what happened to her in the past. Perhaps she was like Mafuyu. She find a treasure being friend with someone, gave up on her dream, yet, that friend "betrayed" her. She doesn't want that happened to in Mafuyu, so that's why she became very strict to Mafuyu. You can hate her all you want, but I think she is genuinely care about Mafuyu. That's what makes her very compelling antagonist in PJSK. Damn it, PJSK really cooking in N25 story, man.
I'd love if the direction the writers are going to take for Mafuyu's future is to make her an actual nurse, but still be able to do music with Niigo, because that would show us that no effort (Making songs AND learning to become a doctor) has been lost

It is finally over! Mafufu has cut her mom out(hopefully, im guessing she has ran away permanently but we don't know) and this story arc is over! I really hope the next one for niigo is about Mizuki and them opening up to Niigo cause that seems like what would naturally come next in the story but we won't know till after the third anniversary.
