I live in Eagan and it is the best place I have lived in my life and I have lived all over the USA including TX and FL. I love that there is like 4 parks within a 1/2 miles from my home. If you have a problem with Eagan then you are just a whinner who is never happy. Also I do not know why people whining about taxes. Other state get you in other ways and you do not have nice communities like this either. But even as a child my parent even complain about the taxes back in the 60's and then we moved and found out that overall those taxes were not that high after we found the true cost of living in TX. For example when I moved back here after living for 45 years in other places I had to pay out of state taxes. I was floored how cheap it was. If I had to pay out of state taxes in FL it would be 5 time more then here and then I was paying like $7000.00 for insurance on my home $200k home in FL. Meanwhile a lot of people who complain about MN never moved out of the state and lived in other areas.
just moved out from Texas to Burnsville this month overall it’s a great places to live at and am renting too but just paying a couple 100$ more on what i was paying on Texas at the Panhandle but i don’t feel a difference with my expenses i guess is the more job options and opportunity i have here
I grew up in Shoreview, and HUGE agree with it's number 1 spot. It was a fantastic childhood, and, although certain things have changed, it still seems like a great place to raise kids. We were right between a couple lakes, playgrounds, 5 min walk from the school - I loved it. Had we stayed, we'd have needed to work on the basement - it was a bit prone to flooding, but it was a solid, nice little starter house that I'd have been happy to be raising my family in (if I was still there).
If you want to keep the commute down to 20 mins or 15mins to the Minneapolis center, want to have a little vibe of a suburb, ideally with good schools for young kids....am I asking for too much? I love those western lake regions like Minnetonka, but the only down side is the commute.
St. Louis Park and Golden Valley need to be recognized for having very affordable housing and great schools. Homes do not go on sale very often as they are already owned and people do not like to leave these areas
I'd really have to know considerably more about your situation, goals, desires, lifestyle, budget, financials, which is a conversation to be had over the phone or in person. I'm not trying to dodge the question. The Twin Cities has several dozen great areas so I want to give you the right options specific for you. You can also see a TON of city/neighborhood tour videos on the playlist on my channel, if you aren't ready to chat right now.
That's actually one of the questions I'm not legally allowed to answer, unfortunately. I encourage folks to search up the area's crime statistics (usually found on the police departments' website) to determine if a neighborhood feels safe to you!
That’s where I live and I’m shocked it’s not higher on the list. This guy claiming places like Mendota heights and Eagan are close to the city meanwhile I can get downtown in 5 minutes. In addition, Shoreview and mounds view are on the list while new Brighton is the same school district, cheaper, closer to the city, and actually has some amount of unique culture in comparison. Mounds View as a city itself is dreadful. Shoreview however is very nice.
In addition, there is no suburb with a better location. None. Easy access to 35W , 35E, 694 , 100 , 10 , 610 , university , central, lexington, 280, and easily (along with Roseville) the best suburb to get to both of the major cities downtowns easily
Orono, Minnesota we have one of the best school districts in the country. We have more Lakeshore on Lake Minnetonka than any city on the lake and we have a gorgeous park including a revamp golf course. Orono was a great place to raise a family. It’s very safe of living is high, but if you have the money Orono is worth the price.

Awesome!
Farmington is where we are wanting to move. We have family there and love it. Really hoping to move by next summer.
We will be moving from Texas.
Love it! I really love Lakeville too. Great downtown/food scene. Give me a shout if I can help! jcarmack@kw.com
My whole life has been high end and I never knew it 😂
I really like this list. Not a suburb guy myself, but interesting take from a different perspective.
I think Niche puts out a Best of Minneapolis/St Paul neighborhoods list too. I could check into it for ya!
What about Orono, Wayzata, Maple Grove & Chaska…!?
If you're curious how Niche comes up with the list, they have a link for how it's determined at the bottom of their websites you could check out!
This feels very Minneapolis suburbs over Saint Paul suburbs maybe cause im in Stillwater and that’s what I know haha
When you mention median income is that total household income or individually?
I'm referencing the household income, as provided by Niche.com.

That's definitely doable!
@@LivinginMinnesota Happy to hear your suggestions!

I live in Minneapolis and was looking for a house in a good suburban area
Awesome! Well, welcome to the channel! You've come to the right place. Give me a shout, I'd be happy to help: jcarmack@kw.com
@@LivinginMinnesota I was looking to buy a house for my parents that is relatively chew but in a good neighborhood.
That's awesome!
@@LivinginMinnesota can you recommend a place

Woodbury? Forest Lake? White bear has a beautiful lake and good community/ brand new schools. I’m shocked it didn’t make the list
All good places, me too! Forest Lake might be the best kept secret in the metro.
Can u tell me about Robbinsdale is it a safe area?

@@LivinginMinnesota thank you, we are moving to Minnesota this Friday, and we also looking for a nice area closer to the city and convenient
@yonguyenusa6033 That's awesome! Let me know how so I can help.
Not the safest place to live. Lived in MN my whole life and you couldn't pay me to live there.
the big problem is all the plates I see from Florida and Texas ,MN is very attractive ,not too stupid hot or too many several storms
I wonder how many MN plates are seen in FL and TX for half the year.

I like your channel, thinking of moving from Texas
Glad you're enjoying it! Let me know how I can help with the move.
New Brighton should make list
Tell us what you love about New Brighton!

Most of these are just towns not a real suburb of the Twin Cities. I live in Columbia Heights. I first tier suburb.

Otsego is great. However, please stop moving here. It’s the perfect size right now.
Good stuff.
Thanks!
