In Austria at least it is very common to use Firefox. Almost all public schools use it. So I grew up with it and so I use it now.

The late 90's to early 2000's logo was alright but i liked the one from 2005-2009 more
I remember watching chowder when they first experimented with changing the Cartoon Network water marks then about a day or two after it completely changed I was so flabbergasted

Old windows logo as I started on the 90's windows
The thing about logos and color is that they need to have a black (positive) or white (negative) version in order to being usable in certain places with a colorful background. In other words, the original logo can still be red and used in black or white because of that reason :D
Also let's not forget that for any letterhead, print, or single-color items, it's likely going to be in black and/or white, so the logo has to look just as good in black and white as it does in color. This is maybe not as important anymore because a lot of businesses are all-digital now, but back in the 90s and 2000s it was more important.
