i think we're all sad to se the years go by so quickly, our years of music slowly drop away, while newer albums and artists take their place. I personally like these because it brings back those days, where we all just sat and listened, and some made us get up and dance, it truly made us feel alive. So through the years, I think its safe to say that I enjoy this, and hope that through different styles of music, different opinions of what sounds good, they stay alive within us. We'll keep the art of music alive, while keeping older styles great in our memories.
some serious questions for dj earworm. do these just feel like a chore now? I can imagine you making your earlier Mashup's (which are great by the way) and actually loving them and having a lot of fun. Hearing comments like "this was better last year" and such makes you wonder what it's all for? a couple of extra dollars around the holidays? is the earworm passion gone? is the available selection of music getting worse as the years go by? and finally.... what if you stopped making them? would your adoring fans abandon you? possibly even hate on you for something that used to be fun? either way. we love what you do and have been following since the beginning. Just can't imagine what you go through to put these together. good work again in 2016.
Okay some constructive criticism: This started out very strong, but faded towards the middle. I think it's a synergy issue. As USoP 2009 proved, the mashup is at its best when it feels like the artists are singing deliberately as a team. You had a great example of it in this video actually in the line as follows: "Welcome to my city, welcome to my home Make it feel like the good old days when we in our zone" Those lines encompassed 4 (or 5, not sure) different artists and it they created original lyrics while flowing well. I didn't really hear something quite like that again for the rest of the video (except arguably the refrain, which was decent). I know it's probably frustrating that people keep comparing your mashups to 2009, but there's a reason for it. It didn't feel like a mashup; it felt like an original song that you could sing along to, and it felt that way because the songs were presented as a continuum, rather than as a discrete set where we have this song, then this song, etc. Also, the base song needs a stronger presence. It wasn't powerful enough to maintain the momentum gained by the opening once everything got going imho. It needs a more solid (yet not overwhelming) rhythmic foundation while keeping the favorable chord progression. Songs with persisting ostinatos seem to work well for this (e.g. Viva La Vida, I've Got a Feeling). Also, I don't think the "into pieces" line should have been used so heavily. Its somber tone tended to clash with the more high energy lyrics surrounding it, and its use got a little repetitive without really taking the song anywhere. I'll leave you with this: you're a great mashup artist and you've proven to be exceptionally talented. My comments are only thoughts on how your future work can be improved, and you're free to take or leave them as you see fit. I look forward to next years mashup.

This one's better than 2017, in my opinion. 2017 was very mundane. All the contributing songs sounded all like variants of the same thing and thus yielded a flat and boing result. But hey, I guess I'm just an old man that thinks most chart toppers sound the same. This 2016 mix might be in my personal top 4.

Whether or not you liked the music of that year (and trust me, I don't like 90% of it in any year), you have to say, these mashups are great because of the nostalgia they carry! Very nice, DJ. A lot of people are giving you flak because they aren't fans of the songs themselves, but you mashed them together very well. It encompasses the spirit of each song, and has a nice catchy feel to it. I've been a fan for 6 years and I am never dissapointed, keep up the great work :)

This is definitely one of the best, but you should really check out DJ Drybones' mix "Can't Stop" - I would call that the best! But it's not a competition, I'm just happy to hear all these great mixes :)

By putting all these songs together, you create a pack of my memories. My friend also thinks like me. When we have been together we always were on RUclips. We were taking part in every iPhone Giveaway since the iPhone 4, but we have never won one , I´m still trying to win one haha. The only difference is that now Im trying to win it for myself, because my friend has passed away recently. I still remember how he heard songs and he said this will be definitely in mashup 2016, I dont know if it makes me happy or sad, hearing your mashup and seeing he was right. These songs make me feel dumb. It feels like these are some pretty new songs, when they are really 2 years old. They are all great and I found that some songs that I love were released not recently.😂 I feel like I was listening to 7 years in late 2017, but that is just time and I listens to it a week after it came out. Time is passing by fast now.

Ariana Grande practically owned 2016 and I'm disappointed not even hear a short sample of Dangerous Woman, Into You, or even Side to Side. :/ Meghan Trainor's "No" was a personal car dance contest I won't forget and should have made it in my eyes. Shawn Mendes also really progressed this year. Can't get "Mercy" out of my head. Not a great mix, but still pretty good. Glad you take the time to do all of this. Thank you!

I usually always play Earworms year end mashup over and over again. This will be a one and done. Amazing job as always piecing this together, but the music this year is horrendous.
Nothing will beat 2009 in my opinion. I feel that most of the people that say 2014 was better were either too young in 2009 to appreciate it or they have never heard it before. Also my opinion that music was fucking trash this year, however DJ Earworm makes it seem better, nice job.

As always, I love the way your mashups come together lyrically to make a new song with a new meaning. Much better than mashups that just put the songs together because they have the same pace. I'm especially enjoying the 'woo! ah-ahh' part with JT and DNCE
The first time I heard this, I thought this mash up is not good. After 6 months of not hearing it, I realized that this is actually a well mashed up music, it's just not the Dj Earworm we used to hear.huhuhu

Sounds so messy. Obviously it's not going to be on level with his old works, but some parts just don't mix well. Overall it was decent but not something you listen over and over again like his 2009 remix.
Ever since 2014, my standards for his mashups have been extremely high. Since then, both the 2015 and 2016 mashups have just left me disappointed that I waited this entire year for something that sounds half finished. The 2014 mashup just had such an amazing flow between all of the songs and watching this year's video, I was left extremely disappointed as I felt that much of the songs didn't flow well together. I have always loved DJ Earworm, yet now I feel that AndyWuMusicland is gaining on DJ Earworm and could easily be viewed as the new king of mashups.
Me too. The sound quality of his mash-up's since 2013 sound awful too. 2009 was the bomb, it changed the way we hear mashups. (I could argue that Girl Talk is still the best), but DJ Earworm created a foundation of what a good year-end mashup of the year's hits should sound like. It should really capture the music environment of the year. I just think DJ Earworm is trying too hard to create new lyrics that he forgot to check if it sounded consistent or if it the transition doesn't sound awkward.

Possibly my all-time favourite mashup. I was in a really good place in my life when these songs came out and hearing them all woven together so well puts me back in that place!! I want to create more memories like those I have with these songs. Music is power. :)

Ariana Grande practically owned 2016 and I'm disappointed not even hear a short sample of Dangerous Woman, Into You, or even Side to Side. :/ Meghan Trainor's "No" was a personal car dance contest I won't forget and should have made it in my eyes. Shawn Mendes also really progressed this year. Can't get "Mercy" out of my head. Not a great mix, but still pretty good. Glad you take the time to do all of this. Thank you!

I usually always play Earworms year end mashup over and over again. This will be a one and done. Amazing job as always piecing this together, but the music this year is horrendous.

Nothing will beat 2009 in my opinion. I feel that most of the people that say 2014 was better were either too young in 2009 to appreciate it or they have never heard it before. Also my opinion that music was fucking trash this year, however DJ Earworm makes it seem better, nice job.

Sounds so messy. Obviously it's not going to be on level with his old works, but some parts just don't mix well. Overall it was decent but not something you listen over and over again like his 2009 remix.
Ever since 2014, my standards for his mashups have been extremely high. Since then, both the 2015 and 2016 mashups have just left me disappointed that I waited this entire year for something that sounds half finished. The 2014 mashup just had such an amazing flow between all of the songs and watching this year's video, I was left extremely disappointed as I felt that much of the songs didn't flow well together. I have always loved DJ Earworm, yet now I feel that AndyWuMusicland is gaining on DJ Earworm and could easily be viewed as the new king of mashups.

Me too. The sound quality of his mash-up's since 2013 sound awful too. 2009 was the bomb, it changed the way we hear mashups. (I could argue that Girl Talk is still the best), but DJ Earworm created a foundation of what a good year-end mashup of the year's hits should sound like. It should really capture the music environment of the year. I just think DJ Earworm is trying too hard to create new lyrics that he forgot to check if it sounded consistent or if it the transition doesn't sound awkward.
Yeah i apreciate this one, but the 2011 mashup was the greatest i think. i just don't get it, DJ earworm mash less song than before. :(
