This fitnah started some years back when everybody started boasting with ilmul jarh wa ta'deel and using it at public gathering as if that was what the 'awwaam needed at that moment. Now, it has taken us to the point of disunity to the point that we don't even seem to have time to teach the people again about the basics of their religion. All we concern ourselves with now is refuting and defending as if those matters are what Allah is going to ask the muslims about in their graves and on the day of judgement. In fact, it is like some people are not even bothered about how muslims are being confused about Islam and leaving it for other religion. What seems to be their concern to me is how many more people they can remove from the fold of Islam and Sunnah with their skewed knowledge and understanding as if they are the police of the sunnah ordained by Allah. We should all fear Allah in respect of the ordinary muslims and realise that Allah will question us on the Day of Judgement regarding the position we have assumed without authority as far as Islam is concerned.
