I have one of these boats. I really want to upgrade my trolling motor to a 24v. I seen ya say something about the gauge of wire. Were you talking about the gauge of wire that’s ran from the batteries to the bow? If so that’s gonna be a pain to change out
+Shawn Titsworth yes the wire from the front to the back, might need to be larger in size or smaller in gauge depending on what size motor you buy. It was kind of a pain to pull the new wires. Brad P very much appreciate the info man. I was worried about having to snake a new wire under all the decking and what not. I’m really glad I don’t have to. Can’t Waite to get that ultrex. its not bad- just get a fish tape or a rope and tie it tothe OLD wires up front and pull it thru. Then you will have a rope strung thru to pull new wires back up--if you cant do that-- (depending on the route it goes)---you might have to do it in sections--"get it to point a"--then get the fish tape or rope and get it the next little ways.
Actually the wiring that is factory should stay the same size when you go to 24V due to more voltage equals less amperage (Amperage creates heat because it is considered resistance). Double check me but I believe the factory wiring will be fine on a 24V system. I have a Minn Kota Ulterra 80lb 24V on my bass tracker and I used the factory wiring and havent had any issues at all. I even had a friend come over with his thermal to check for heating up in the wiring and it was good to go. He did check it on the lake at max operation.
I have an older 175txw. Almost never fish with 3 in the boat so I removed the middle seat and the driver seat and put in a carpeted floor. Then replaced the driver seat with a short pedestal seat. This solves a lot of the drivers lack of movement and gives much better vision over the front. With the center seat gone its a nice easy step through to the back
Just bought a crestlinerVT18, almost bought a tracker. After seeing your rod storage I’m glad I chose the crestliner.

I have a 75lbs thrust trolling motor on my Tracker, more than enough power, also a get a spare tire lock and make sure to carry a spare prop for both motors. Good Luck fishing!

I have the same boat. You have to get the BoatBuckle retractable straps for the trailer. They are well worth it!

You can fit 3 to 4 rods 0n the right. Just slide the tips along console under the side rail. No damages to Rods. Just take your time.
That little hole is usually where I hide the tail end left on my tie up rope hahaha 🤘👍🇺🇸
Just put the batteries in parallel and it just doubles your amp hours. Same thing your doing but then you don’t have to switch wires. Whatever you do, don’t wire them in series!
Nam Nguyen I put them in parallel after I got a bee charger that could handle it! Way better!
I added a battery selector switch behind the rear deck rather than wire the 2 TM batteries in parallel.

wow, great boat, love the quality of the work you have done. i have an 18 sv lund. bay boat with a 40hp suzuki. larance chart plotter/gps, depth and fish, also, radio vhf. ac converter, updated panel, 3hp kiker motor. also, haha, added air horns, we have shipping channels, i consider them a must as far as safety. what i really want to add is 10k lumins of flood light with 3 stage switch.

agreed, i have seen any real systems that fit the bill, they need to mounted up high. i down graded from a 36ft Catalina. i used my rear seat post / hole to mount my cam for recording. removable. im think about useing that same post/hole system to put 2x3ft led bars across/floods. i fish the chesapeake bay for rockfish. and crabbing. maybe add a second AGM battery.
Good job, Ya gotta make it YOUR OWN. We bought a 175 pro team, in 2000. I don't bass fish. Cats and crappie for me. I made bases for rod holders & riveted to gunnels. Just gotta make them functional & comfy.

Good video. I agree with all your comments. I bought this boat a little over 2 years ago, new, with the 75 hp 4 stroke. I did many of the same mods. Helix 10 MSI at the console, Terrova 80# with the transducer built in and a Helix 5 at the bow. The 2018 rod locker is way better than the older and the newer ones because the lid goes down over the bulkhead so you don't have to wrestle the rods (as much) in and out. 80# Terrova with the spot lock is awesome. I can hold in a gale and the boat will actually go about 5 1/2 mph on the troller. I also added a 10' Talon on the sandwich mount on the port side which I use all the time. I fish alone and I use it at the ramp every time as well as shallow fishing. I swapped the stupid, dangerous cleats out with folding cleats. I also added a bimini for the roasting South Texas sun. I shortened it quite a bit but it is great for taking a break or charting. The trailer came with LED lights but I changed out the plug and added back up LED flood lights and that is a game changer in the dark. I wound up moving the trolling motor batteries to the rear of the front compartments because it was too low in the back and water will run back through the bilge pump into the bilge when fishing. The big motor and the Talon added a bunch of weight that most people don't have to deal with. I think this is an awesome first boat but I'm going to upgrade to a bigger, better boat next year.
Looks like you went all out! I just picked up a new used boat, tiller steer for more space and to do some ocean fishing. What cleats did you buy? My new boat has the same issue. My new boat is in my newer videos and I'm going to be upgrading the trolling motor and I think is light enough for the power pole Micro.
Oh and what flood lights I pretty much leave in the dark and come back in the dark!
I used some inexpensive 2x3 led pods from eBay on some brackets I made to bolt to the tail lights. The 7 way plug didn't have the contact for the reverse signal, so I had to replace the front pigtail and plug. I'll send links tomorrow.

I made some small gaskets from 1/8" neoprene gasket material to fit to the curved gunnels and cover the tiny bit of the old holes that sticks out. I drilled and tapped 1/4-20 holes to mount them.

I got the same boat with a 70lbs and it's plent I fish rivers with lots of current every week and it's does fine actually 101 would be way to much and you would need 3 batteries too

I just bought a 2021 one of these new last summer. Ive upgraded the battery for the trolling motor from the group 24 single to a larger pair. 12 volt and just wired both batteries together. Same 12 volt but double the capacity. After 8 hours non stop usage in a breeze it was still showing 12 volt on the depth finder. They did move the aux plug to the dash. It came with a lowrance 5 and i moved it to the trolling motor and put my Garmin 7 at the dash. The right side rod storage is better suited for shorter rods. Only 2 things about this boat is that 1. I really wanted the crappie version of it for the extra seat mounts and locations and the extra bait live well in front. But waiting for who knows when for one to be built and delivered for me. I just got this one. The rod storage on mine is on the sides and the center is storage.

As someone said, Google wiring batteries in parallel. No more switching batteries. Whenever you upsize your tm, Google wiring in series, to go to 24 volt.
Your local auto parts or farm/home store will have premade jumper wires.
I have a 17' G3. I put a 75# 24 volt tm on it, can fish all day long, even in the wind.
As for the rod locker. Can you remove the wall and the tubes? Look on tinboats.net for ideas. Rod Sox will help with protecting the rods and guides. I highly recommend them.
How long does it take to recharge after a full day on the 24v Troller?

I just picked a 2011 up that is in great condition. Thanks for the video. My takeaway is regarding the spare wheel...great idea, and I will be adding that for sure. Where did you buy your spare wheel? Also, I'm thinking of getting that Hummingbird and installing it, but that's some $$$.
+l44va I got the spare wheel from Walmart for around $100, make sure you measure the pattern before you buy it one. I think I got the tire mount at Walmart as well or Amazon. The Helix is nice check out some of my other videos about it. I couldn't live without it now.

Switching wires makes no sense. Just parallel trolling motor batteries or all three. Amphrs double at 12v , 24 volt for sure on that boat, use same batteries.

Great video. A lot of useful information. I have a 2001 Tracker . I have the same fish finder you have the Lowrance triple shot 7X. I fished the Delaware River yesterday. Went a good 5-6 miles. The fish finder didn't show and fish anywhere. I'm sure there was some. my guess is I may need to lower the transducer 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The Lowrance has a nice product. The instructions leave a lot to be desired. Any suggestions you might have I'm all ears. Thanks for the video
Is it parallel to the water surface and plugged in?
Add stainless steel prop and gain 4 mph .. made huge difference in how my tracker handled
What motor do you have and what prop?
You can put rods on the starboard side. Tips in the small opening were the console meets the side rail. Do it all the time. 4 rods max. Also store rods on port side front to back from behind seat to front deck. Like shoes in a box. 4 rods easy
80 lb thrust more than enough.
If you went to a bigger group battery they would last longer, like a group 29 or 31. The 27's are alot smaller
Be sure to measure first. The 29 and 31 might not fit. A 27 was the largest that fit in my Tracker with a 3 batteries setup.

Question for you. I upgraded my wheels/tires from 13's to 15's. This weekend I remounted my spare tire to the exact same location as yours. Now, with my tires being 2" taller than factory, do you think the bottom side of the hull will hit the top of the tire loading and unloading the boat on/off the trailer?
Shouldn't but if it does it will only leave a black mark and won't hurt anything

Plugged the livewell overflow? How do you get fresh water to the livewell without sinking the boat?
I use the pump out feature, and I have Vt2 vents and I put ice in there too keep the fish cool
If you dont mind me asking where did you get the replacement led lights from? Lights on mine were broken and need to be replaced

What plug did you use in the bottom of your live well?
It came with a black plastic plug with 2 orings are you missing that?
I have 24 volt trolling motor but had two batteries even when it was 12 volt. I put twist locks on the batteries and on the TM cable so when one battery dies you can just unplug from one and plug into the other instead of having to disconnect the wires and switch them. Also you can fit four rods on the other side if you face them the other way. I added a strap on that side.

They came with the boat but I bought the boat off somebody else I'm not sure if it's an aftermarket thing or not but they do help. The paint on this boat does not stay on long

It came with the boat. The previous owner might have installed it of it's not stock.

Wire your two trolling motor batteries in parallel and you will never need to switch those cables again. Those two batteries will allow you to use the trolling motor the entire weekend.

Question: I recently purchased the same model boat however mine is a bit older.
That said , the live well is the same size as yours. The question I have is this, do you know of any way to expand the live well? I fish a bunch of tournaments in summer and if I'm lucky enough to land 5 big ones, I don't want to stress them out and risk losing one.

+JB JB I looked into it, and there is no good way. You might be able to out two small ones on the side compartments that are coolers but that's a ton of work. What I do is I buy two bags of ice dump those in, added V-T2 vents, and GJuice. The fish will be fine. My tournaments are 6 fish and with 22.5lbs it was fine. Best of luck

Buy the the biggest pumpes for pump in and recirculate pump, then set them both to auto. When you run on plane turn off pump in. I have Never lost a bass in 10 years FISHING weekly tournaments from my tracker.

A 70# thrust 24V trolling motor is a lot for a 17' boat. I have one on mine and it's plenty
Depends on what lakes you are on. Lakes by me are very large and there's wind gust where or even 45,55 thrust motors at times can't handle very good. I myself will be getting 70lbs thrust electric motor for my 17ft 75 beam vessel.
Did your boat come with a custom cover? If so, does it fit over your new trolling motor?

Yes, I made it myself, I had a piece laying around but you might be able to find something thick enough at Lowes or home Depot in the raw metal area usually near hardware.

How did you route the cables for that on board charger under the seat? I'm installing a 3 bank NOCO Genius under the passenger seat if I can get the cables to the back.
The driver's seat had 3 inches holes in the back panels for access. You made need to make some holes in that tight spot. Make sure you cable wrap or protect the hole

@@BendItFishing drivers seat has no storage in my model year. It's just decking under that seat. Only passenger has storage under it.

Exactly. And if you have spinning rods, forget it. The holes are not big enough for spinning rod eyes. Wasted space!

Now that you have the T-V2 vent system installed for awhile, do you think they make a difference for the fish?
Oh yes! Way worth it! I use ice during the hot months and block off the over flow and use G-juice as well and have never had a dead fish. With out the vents the smell that would come out of there was real bad. Make sure you follow the instructions on the install. Spin the hole saw backwards to cut the carpet and do not use a drill gun to put the small bolts on. Good luck

Probably a 2012 from what I remember, I don't have it anymore. The retractable cables looked stock to me
I have a 2008 edition of the TXW. No flush mount for the trolling motor pedal and I have a 50 HP 2 stroke Merc. instead of a newer 4 stroke. I am blessed with a better rod locker hatch so I don't have to bend the rods to insert them. I want to put a bigger Ram mounted Humminbird in place of the little Lowrance but not sure how to remove wiring/transducer. Also I have the Minn Kota charger like the one you have and would love to install it under the passenger seat. I am not seeing any channel that goes back to the battery compartment and I am reluctant to drill any holes. I just don't see any other way to put the charger under the seat without drilling. Will let you know how that turns out. Love to have a 2018 model but the 10 year old boat still runs like a top and with zero leaks. If it works, why replace it.
Mine has holes under the driver seat and you can get the wires behind the throttle and there is a L- channel behind the driver back deck that houses wires

How much does your boat weight? I want to buy a 55 minnkotta edge and I dont know if it would fit for my 600kg boat. I must get feedbacks. Any forum`s recommendation to talk about this topic?
It's about 1100 pounds I had a 55 lbs Terrova on it and it was not enough in strong wind. I'm not sure on the forum part. If you are tournament fishing I would go with an 80lb

+hydrojet7x70 I am going to go with vinyl, the carpet stays wet and soaks in every smell and blood from Pike mainly. The newer models have a vinyl texture that looks really nice
I had vinyl on my 2017 boat and when it was wet it would be really slick. On my 2018 I went back to carpet. The newer types of carpet are way better than just a few years ago.
Had my 2015 two and already had the vinyl replaced at the factory once but I love my boat
How much hp the back board motor can It take? I may want to upgrade it from the original 60 hp it comes with
I think it was rated for 75 but I don't have the boat anymore you'll have to look at the boat rating on Trackers website

Why did you say that you didn't need the overflow? You said when you had the thing in there? I don't understand. I have a 2000 Tracker 185 PT and just got my livewell going. I am considering the vents. Do you still think they helped. It seems if you leave the livewell on overflow it would help keep fresh water in and take the ammonia out.
The vents helped a ton! No more bad ammonia smell. I blocked the overflow because during hot days I would put ice in the livewell to keep it cool. With the overflow open that cold water would rush out getting on plane and I would have to fill with lake water that is now warmer

It's a good starter boat. I still came in second on a couple of tournaments. But we everyone else can run 65mph they get the good spots first

Huntingthe Wildlife cause you don't fish tournaments and don't get tournament style fishing, having to be turned around looking at a graph on the console while making casts to the front of the boat is an awful idea and your also not looking where your going if your turned around staring at a graph all the time.

run the motor at 24 v- OR at least get a 30$ battery switch so you can just switch from battery 1-2--you dont want to be messing around with battery cables.
The motor is designed for 12v only and I ran the batteries in parallel. The reason they weren't in parallel at first was my charger couldn't handle it
Those dam cleats suck I caught a nice fish sat my road down on gunnel it slid and went under that cleat I went to puck the rod up and snapped it in half cause of that cleat lol

ddm62571 I’ve never heard of a 24v boat battery. I’ve seen the little 24v batteries for toys but not for a boat or vehicle.

As a previous owner of a brand new Pro Team 175, my advice would be: don’t be married to the idea of new or Tracker specifically. I was appalled at the lack of quality control. You certainly get what you pay for and I consistently found disappointing areas where Tracker cuts corners; cheaper components, mediocre craftsmanship. I’d look at a gently used boat that’s a few years old.
