    I worked for a guy one time that his dad had a 66 Chevy truck like that same engine and transmission. He kept it in the barned all the time. He hauled grain and hay with it. It was about 10 years old at that time and looked like a new truck the last time I saw it.

      @@charleshubert6751The only problem is half those 2 speeds don't work anymore. The electric ones are better than the vaccuum powered ones though. The vacuum ones barely worked when new.

    • @charleshubert6751
      @charleshubert6751 Год назад

      @@HockeyGoon939 Agreed there, when I've had a problem with the electric ones out was usually nothing more than terminal corrosion or a broken wire. Vacuum systems 'work' when everything is perfect; no moisture in the lines, no leaks, good accumulator and so on. I've got a1970 Corvette and the headlight doors and wiper door work but even the slightest leak anywhere including check valves, filter, lines, diaphragms and switches under the steering column are a pain. Right now everything works but the headlights are starting to rise more slowly so I'm going to have to start playing again soon!

    I have a 65 with a 292 and 4 speed. It's a 12 foot dump bed. It has made me hundreds of thousands of dollars, when scrap steel was so high. It's hauled off boilers that were huge. The people who loaded them said it would never pull them with the inline 6. They were amazed when it hauled several of them. One time I was hauling an air handler from a factory. It clipped a power line and dumped off in the city street. That was a fiasco. That thing barley sipped any gas , for it's size. We had to trucks with v8s , and the 292 would get double the fuel mileage, plus haul twice the load.
