I installed IKEA cabinets in a basement suite kitchen of a previous home and it worked out perfectly. The cabinets were cost effective, very good quality, and relatively easy to build/install (once we got the first cabinet built the rest were easy 😂). Good choice!
I love IKEA furniture. Yes, they do offer some lower priced things, but even those still last and are good quality for that price range. Their better-made items are still affordable and the kitchens and appliances and bedrooms are excellent quality. I've never had a problem with any of their items in any price range. I've been looking at their kitchen options as well in prep for a move to France, and your overview was helpful.
When I redid my kitchen, I didn't opt for drawers. I had sliding stainless steel racks put in. Acts very similar to the drawer concept, but, if I needed to, I could raise and lower the racks.
I agree with you on the pull out drawers for lower kitchen cabinets! I have those in my current home I built in 2021 (with all soft close) and I LOVE them. They are my favorite thing about the new house. Kind of a funny thing to be the most important thing in a house - but they are such a huge convenience!
As an owner of many Ikea bookcases, I resent your comment, Mike! All kidding aside, great video! We definitely want to re-do our kitchen, so thanks for the run-through of all the options.
It's only common in Italy to take your kitchen with you. In Austria for example only maybe in big city like vienna.you can also find asking for a small price for leaving it inside the apartment.... I also just bought my house in Le Marche on Christmas 🎁. I also will buy an IKEA kitchen. But of course the measurements of Italian houses do not match IKEA kitchen standards that easily.i am no person who is handy doing stuff.... Refrigerators in Europe are smaller, but I always have another on the side for drinks, wine etc. Every kitchen needs a dishwasher. Especially if you want to rent outm I would never rent any Airbnb which has no dishwasher.... In any case there is a speciality in Italy which I have not seen elsewhere: a cupboard over the sink in the kitchen where you have a plate rack inside without bottom so your dishes can drip and dry ...
My brother-in-law renovated an Italian Palace in Salerno and he and his wife put in an Ikea "American" Kitchen. It is beautiful. White cabinets with butcherblock countertops. Bright lemon yellow walls. So bright and cheery and a happy place to visit!
It's normal, as you say, in Europe to take the kitchen. Or if it is being left, one usually has to pay seperately for it! Don't forget to check the Italian IKEA site out as it seems slightly different to the US version! Many people in Italy recommend getting IKEA kitchens as they're cheap, but maybe check with Paola as well if she knows someone locally who supplies similar?
If I were to furnish a new home , it would be a ' tiny house ' . In My opinion that means everything is going to be apartment size ( especially kitchen appliances ) . The fridge is a controversial topic . First in the design aspect, it first and foremost must fit into the space allotted for it . Next it must actually hold enough food and drinks to last long enough, till the next grocery run . If it doesn't meet those requirements nothing else about it matters .

Thanks, it's nice to hear someone else has had good experiences with IKEA furniture.

The other thing to consider is there are currently 23 (!) IKEA stores in Italy so product availability is rarely an issue
Even though I don't need another kitchen, I'm tempted to buy one from IKEA just because! 😂
