HOW How COULD THIS STORY STAY Hidden for so Looong???? The title is most appropriate !!!! It s great that she s still alive to see her story , their story being told on this large platform !!! I will be reading the book.
Saw the movie opening day. Caught the matinee so a lot of women of that era was there. Many left the theater in tears. Myself included. One woman told me that when she was growing up in the late 50's early 60's she was told that all she could be was a teacher or nurse. Not that those careers were bad but I wish she had known about this then. Great movie.
Taraji should have won the Oscar for best actress and she wasn’t even nominated. Talk about high crimes and misdemeanors.
Instead they nominate yet another mediocre, forgetable Meryl Streep performance in Florence Foster Jenkins
I love Octavia, I love Taraji P. and Janelle; I will go see it with Hubby this Saturday, can't wait.
Before I wanted to see this film because of Taraji no I want to see it because of it's historical background. I mean I took American history 102 and they never mention these amazing women anywhere. This is as important to African American history as it is to women history #HiddenFigures
I watch this movie about twice a year. Can't get enough.

I saw the movie and I enjoyed it very much but I will make a comment about one of the major player in the movie.I’m comparing her skin tone with the young lady who played Nina Simone in the movie. The main character in the movie in real life have a life Had a very light skin or what we used to call when I was growing up,she was high yellow. In the beginning of the movie and some of the previews you could tail the major figure who played her park had to wear make to make her appear much lighter than she is. I did not hear any complaints from any of what I called the guardians of the black race have anything to say about her skin tone her, but the lady who played Nina Simone are both people’s of colors, except the lady who played Nina Simone received a lot of criticism because she had to wear some make up to make her look the part.. No matter who you are I’ll tell you now. Live your life The best way you can and that’s all anyone can ask of anyone. My mother used to tell us boys that she will go through hell and high water for us but if we got our ass in trouble over some dumb shit such as stealing,bracket in someone’s house or anything that is against the law don’t even bother calling her up and that was before we even have a telephone.
