You have the best comment EVER about Meg. We all want a White Stripes reunion but as long as she is healthy and happy in her life than we can be satisfied with that.
@@jakebrodyblob much appreciated, actually coincidentally been revisiting the velvet underground today and its a nice treat to remember this version of this song exists
I have so many things to say, but I won't, with this band, things are perfect as they are. I don't know the full story, and the public never will, but Jack's talent drivenness made them disband in my opinion. Could've been something else though, because I think everyone here agrees that Gillis was at his prime when he was doing the Stripes, he channeled so much raw power through his plastic guitar along with Meg's "simplistic" drumming, this duo was honestly perfect. Whish there was an interview or something about how he felt in hindsight about the band, but the real deal would be actually getting in contact with Meg, I really want to hear what she has to say.
Totally and fully agree with you. I don’t Care about the Technical level of drummer: the alchemy was present and it was brilliant. Thanks to Meg and Jack : they do the job perfectly with all Their imperfections. Big love
There's nothing special about her voice,… at least in this performance. You know that. You're overly emotionally attached. It's no surprise that she had a debillitating anxiety attack later on.
What's wrong with the people here? Why did they even decide to click on the vid? Lolol. In their opinions a gorgeous voice has to be that of Ariana Grande or something? Haha
I found an interview with Nardwuar in which Jack says that Meg is an android. But I don't know if this is the first mention of Meg being a robot. Or Jack said it because the theory already existed.
She’s not a great singer, or at least not when nervous. But that’s not the point. It was just fun and joyful to see Meg getting out of her comfort zone behind the drums.
@@kurosani9614, in a Rolling Stone interview: “He explains, "She's one of those people who won't high-five me when I get the touchdown. She viewed me that way of 'Oh, big deal, you did it, so what?' Almost every single moment of the White Stripes was like that. We'd be working in the studio and something amazing would happen: I'm like, 'Damn, we just broke into a new world right there!,' and Meg's sitting in silence. ‘Shit, try being in a two-piece where the other person doesn’t talk!’.” “ “In the White Stripes, it was impossible to share the good moments with Meg because she was very uninterested. If something nice happened, it wasn't like we would hug or have a drink. That wasn't what went on. We would record a White Stripes song in the studio and it would be me, Meg and an engineer. So we would finish a mix of a song and I'd say, 'Wow! That's pretty good!' I'd look around and Meg would just be sitting there, and the engineer would just be sitting there."” Jack White is insecure.
TheIkaika777 thanks for the info! i honestly think he acted salty in those interviews and thats the shit that is really not fair to say to your bandmate who hasn’t said anything bad to you. plus, as a drummer myself, meg white fucking rocks. you can really see that she was a huge part of the band aswell as an inspiration to jack himself. i mean, in all honesty, to me jack hasn’t done half as good stuff in his solo career as in the white stripes. coincidence? fuck no. meg is a queen, an amazing musician, and a huge inspiration for jack himself. given the time they spent together and the beautfiul energy and sinergy they had on live shows, i would not think that jack honestly thinks bad of meg, neither that she thinks bad of him. jack is probably mad he can’t be in the white stripes anymore as they were and still are a legendary band. sorry for the long post
@@TheIkaika777 I think Jack was offended that Meg stopped talking to him 😅 I don't see anything wrong with Jack saying Meg was very uninterested. This is part of her personality. And I think Jack was very upset with this behavior, so he decided to talk about it. As I recall, later in this interview he said that Meg did a lot for the band and the music in general. So I dont think Jack craps on her by that. I was more upset when Jack said that White Stripes was his solo project in a lot of ways. It was kind of rude. But it seems to me that now they have established communication. (Sorry for my english)
That's kind of the point. She's singing like a little kid. There's an innocence and purity to it. It's incredibly endearing and adorable in my opinion.
Dear Meg, whatever you are doing I hope you are happy and enjoying life. thanks for sharing laughs and music for all the years .

When I meet Jack i'll be sure to call him Gillis lmao Such a power move. Thanks for the idea.
Meg White and Moe Tucker.
The two best drummers ever born.
What I take from this is.... How much they did and probably still do loved each other.
The way Meg looks at jack is love!
And how when she walked off the stage, she affectionately touched the small of his back. So sweet!
This is White Stripes gold. Gosh I miss them so much! So raw organic and real. Love them always.
Amazing. I've heard this track, but never seen the video. Thanks for this!
The Stripes playing The Velvets...what a dream!
yes, and she sings as nice as Mo Tucker!!!

Such a brilliant cover that fits TWS perfectly.
I couldn’t carry a tune if it had a handle either! Nice to know there is a place for those like us!
This song should only be played by female drummers :)
I get it. Now this looks very fitting.
i would DIE for her
😭😭😭
She's so cool. I love her.
This is my one of favorite Meg videos. Cold, Cold Night and Rated X are others.

She is so pretty when she smiles I bet she could have me fucking words and red as her clothing absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!
She is so cute and sweet
You remember the episode in Friends when Ross sings and plays songs? That's what the white stripes remind me of.
Please come back Meg, Edinburgh awaits!
Where’s that god damn bass in my left ear
She does a great job, I think this is valet underground song.
