- Game was recorded on 1-31-2012. It's currently in 12th place on the TwinGalaxies score board. I know I can get back into the game and do better but it will be sometime in the future before I play this game again.

@@whompmaster Not too high. Around hundred twenty thousand. Lol..I started playing and I got addicted right away. have an arcade1up so I’m not sure if that’s close to the real thing. I’m having trouble with mcp stages mostly, but I’m watching videos and trying to improve. Love this game!!
@@artoabraham1501 The only reason I broke a million is I wrote my own Tron Level Guide to let me know what is coming up on each level. No more guessing which way the cones will be going and at what speed.
One of my favorite games growing up. I remember flipping the score but pretty sure not to 1.5m Probably 1.1 or 1.2m. I have the game stored in my garage.
It's one of those games where, if you can flip the score, you just need to prefect any weakness levels and learn to speed up certain levels and you can turn 1M into 3M. I simply don't have the time anymore to play a game for 3 to 6 hours. Even this game, at the time, I sort of wanted to end it as I had to go pick my daughter up from elementary school.
On some of the earlier "spider" levels and the core levels you could have shot loads more spiders and blocks to get higher points. Why didnt you?
I can't say for sure as I may have just got sucked in to the center screen or sometimes I try to conserve my hand strength as you will need it when you get to the fast cones. Sometimes, on spider levels, I even cross hands and shoot with my left hand a bit once I'm in a safe spot so my right hand doesn't get too tired. Also, I do know my time was limited and sometimes I get tired of trying to have a good start and then having to restart the game over a stupid death.
Tron really is a marathon game even though you don't get extra men every 50k or so like in Robotron, Defender or Joust. Believe it or not but I actually took my Tron scores from 20k to breaking a million in a very short amount of time simply because I created my own Tron Level Guide. I still had to develop my own patterns and memorize them but just knowing what is coming up next had me prepared ahead of time instead of a level starting and being totally caught off guard. Examples would be just knowing which tanks will pop up or knowing if it's the fast cone and which direction it will be spinning. To me, that was the whole trick and I had to keep getting further and further in the game and keep writing all of this down until I found the exact spot where the game LOOPED again and at which stage it started it's new loop! It was a lot of work but it was fun at the time. The great players (very few of them) blow through the early stages trying to get to stage 243 / User 33 of the 8th loop as it will loop, stay on that same stage forever and all you have to do is master that 1 stage and then it becomes a game of endurance as you only have your 4 men. I also know I could have easily continued to play this game and gotten well over 2 or 3 million but that's a lot of time out of my life and you don't make money on this. Plus, I dedicated all that time and energy on Mario Bros. instead. 🙂

Yeah, I really could not tell you that but you would think so. After this game I really didn't play it a whole lot more. Mostly because I didn't have the time. It's like, once you see all the levels then what's to keep someone from getting 2M next and then 3M? It's also the same reason I quit playing the single player Mario Bros.as those games were getting in the 6 hour range. Just no time in my life anymore.
Sorry if you mentioned this and I didn't watch that part... but are you using 2 hands on the stick holding with one and using the other to fire on the spiders and cone rounds? Back in the old days when I was good at this game I made a cheat sheet for the levels to tell the strategy of the cycles and tanks too. I'd get my quarter back when they closed the arcade because I could pretty much play this game until I got tired of playing it - looks like you went 3 hours! Nice work!
I don't think I use 2 hands on the stick at the same time but I would certainly swap hands once I got in a comfortable position and just wanted to point press the spiders a little longer. It would help save my hand strength here and there so I could play longer. It's also funny you mention a cheat sheet as I made a level guide for Tron that tells you everything coming per level up to it flips and starts over from scratch again. I think it took me a good bit of the Summer to document, type it up and create a nice PDF. If you have a way I can email you I'll send it to you or maybe I can find you on FaceBook and send it that way.
@@whompmaster Sadly this game is not really able to be emulated as the controls are so specific, and honestly good, so I have no access to play the game. You should try holding the stick with your weak hand and then use the other to tap the fire button. Being right handed I'd move all the way over to the right side of the stick, quickly rotate the arm and fire away, moving the man more than turning the arm. It takes some getting use to, to quickly adjust the arm (now with the weak hand) and return to high rate fire.
I don't mean to criticize, you obviously have it figured out. I am pretty amazed you get the rate of fire you get with one hand. With a set arm, moving and a higher rate I do think you could kill more spiders every level. I remember either clearing the spiders or having to manage the growth so I wouldn't run out (slowing the kill rate down). Clearing every spider, even in the very high levels was achievable with the two hand shoot method - not that you want do do that, I know.
@@RichardStuplich Tron really can be and is a marathon game without all the extra men. The true goal is go through the 8 cycle loops (USER 6- USER 35 / 8 times) to reach level 243. At USER 35 it starts back over at USER 6 again. Sometimes I have no clue just how I figured all of this out but once I saw there was a loop end and new loop beginning I just had to learn all of my patterns. Now, at level 243 it's like hitting the repeated kill screen in this game and it will stay on that level forever or until you finally lose all your men. As for spiders, I would swap hands and even use multiple different shooting fingers on my right hand but I never really cared all too much about trying to get tons of extra spiders simply to save finger strength. I did point press for sure but didn't try to over do it as it's really a marathon game.

Stephen nice gameplay! I learned the mid-screen tank strats from my cousin back in the 80's. Question- don't you want to get the MCP clear bonus more frequently?
I think you can get it on the first couple of MCP's but it gets tougher after that and It's really not something I think about very much. You really just want to point press here and then when you can but you also want to not get too greedy and stay alive.
are the high scores erased on a Tron machine after unplugging the power chord ?
You can buy a chip that will keep all scores in the top 10. My problem was I would flip the score and then it didn't matter to me.

It's certainly possible to score over 3M on Tron because the world record is 14+ million. I do however think a lot of the older scores are not real.

My Tron has been down for a year now, I was able to break the million mark barely one time and then I lost interest and moved on to other games because unlike Galaga when you are player two the million does not show.
