As someone who is an electrical engineering and owns a tesla plaid along with 1000hp corvettes. Electric bikes and cars have no soul and it makes them suck
Comparing an electric bike and car aren’t even in the same league. Most people that have electric bikes hate electric cars. You obviously don’t have much time on an e bike
EVs are only good for daily use, boredom of riding a bike without gears, clutch and no sounds is boring as !! My Tesla is good for daily, my 66 fastback is my ,mental health check, while my raptor is great for trips and day to day stuff too
When I hear my 500 2-stroke rev out that makes my heart go pitter-patter long live the two stroke and the machines that have souls every time I fired up it makes me happy🎉
Motocross will never die. If a track disappears, build another one in a corn field and they will come. I’m 67 years old and I drive/ride like I’m a 16 year old with the throttle pegged wide open from point A to B racing everyone in my path with a smile on my face the whole way playin Van Halen in my head.
Motorsport is a true Visceral experience. Sight. Sound. Smell. Take away one of these key components and the experience is significantly degraded. Most humans operate on visual/vibratory/olfactory levels. It's human nature. 😄🙄 But 'experts' are going to tell us differently. 🤦♂️
I agree. I think we (and the governments) need to rethink the connection between motorsport and transportation - they may have been the same thing back in the 50's or 60's, but a modern race vehicle probably shares less than 10% of it's components with something you'd see on the street. They are no longer the same thing, not the same experience, and carry different priorities. Just like nobody wants to go to a quiet concert. Sure, I want to live in a quiet and clean town. That's where low noise and low emissions are a priority. I also would like to have an exciting experience when racing a dirtbike.
The electric cars have so many screens, micro switches, computers - so much that wont last 20 years that not one will be pulled out of a barn in 50 yrs & be restored - but they will be able to restore a 100 yr old car then & make it usable again.
Apparently you're unfamiliar with modern combustion cars. The issues you mentioned are in no way related to an electric powertrain, actually the opposite.
I don’t know how any kid can afford any of the new motocross bikes. As a kid in the 70’s we could find a bike that we could afford without my parents assistance! Making a $1.25 per hour in 72 I was still able to but my first used bike.
Nothing like Detroit V8 engines. Had a '71 Chevelle SS 454. No electric car will feel the same. Have a CR250 & 500 2 stroke, will never buy an electric bike.
The sport started going downhill with the introduction of the 4 strokes. The old days of only 2 strokes was much better times. Better racing with less cost. The technology that the new bikes have is absolutely ridiculous. In the old days you realy had to know how to ride the bike to get it going fast. You had to know how to change gears at the right time and use clutch control to gain speed. These days with mapping and so on none of these guys would last on a real race bike, a 2 stroke
The moment you realize that the importer pays for tariffs, and that every single dirt bike on the planet is not made in America... Didn't think that one through to the end, now did we...
I will go one step further. Des Nations should actually have an independent third class, 2 stroke, either 125 or 250 don’t care but preferably a 125 class.
My 82 Cr250 cost $400 and lasted for years. A decade later I got a 89 Cr for $1000. A decade later I had 2002 Cr,Kx,Yz and Drz all for around $1500 each. A decade later I still have them and the two strokes all run. I can work on them myself. Sadly I don't ride them much. My electric mountain bikes allow me to ride every day with zero maintenance right near my house and places I can't ride gas bikes. However when they do break there's nobody that can repair the motors and they're junk. I can play that game with a $1000 second hand ebike. I'm not paying thousands of dollars to take a heavy electric motorcycle out to a riding area for an hour or two of riding then have to sit for hours while it charges on a gas generator.
glad to hear ur back on a bike,im 54 broke my back twice,I still ride and will tell my body says no more.just have to take her easier now a days,God bless 👍
I ride a 300cc two stroke and wouldn’t trade it for anything but if the manufacturers don’t figure out a way to get the noise down we will have nowhere to ride.
I have had a 300 XCW with the long FMF quiet muffler, and it was surprisingly quiet especially if you repack the muff as needed. Most dont do this, they want "the sound of power". People would say they didnt hear me come up behind them , I like a quiet bike, I can concentrate better on passing everyone. I ride in nor cal mountains, there is no one out there to hear us, but us.
It’s not about the noise, that’s just an excuse. Your killing endangered species blah blah blah. The idea it will open up more riding areas is BS. You might get away with riding more places, but that a way different statement.
Many tracks especially so cal, close from the property being worth way too much to just run a race track on. Condos or what ever are worth millions more to develop. Money is all that matters in the US.
Across VA they closed for noise. Even private property you have to fight noise complaints. I was around tge 2t to 4t transition and everyone was "im never riding a thumper". Same exact argument. I want a stark ex. Its the best option for me to be able to ride without going hours away. I have a 450 and a 250 2t and enjoy them both. I also ride mountain bikes. No sound. No smells. No problem. Tons of trail access. If the choice is having a track locally or even indoor and ride a stark or only get to a track a few tines a year hours away.....give me an ev.
My neighbor rode one for less than an hour. Ordered one the next day. Electric is coming fast. People have tons of money. The utv market is going nuts and they cost more than cars.
"people have tons of money" A very subjective thing to say. Buying a Varg when it might do a 40 mile loop in the mountains,or not, and wont finish a 20 minute moto on a track? And is too heavy to be a race bike. Goofy novelty.
Can you imagine going to a Monster Truck event with E trucks? Drag boat, drag car race with e motors? E has a place in backyards as an entry level riding area. But as it stands, without the audio feedback, it’s not ever going to have the connection between speed that crowds come for.
People that hate on EV bikes have never ridden a Stark. The Stark will last so much longer than the current 4 strokes so the extra initial cost is a wash.
No regular joe consumer needs an electric, 90hp, $15,000 dirtbike to ride at a local track or trail. When went to 4 strokes, a TOP Guy in the industry said okay but just know its going to make racing more expensive and less bikes will be sold to consumers.
First off they aren’t 90 hp. Second, they aren’t 15K, Third even if they were 90hp they are fully adjustable. The “Top Guy” is a moron. It makes racing a ton cheaper at the 250 level. A privateer can’t even afford to compete at the 250 level
@kurtheidelbach 🤣🤣🤣🤣 okay it's 80hp, 14,000 out the door, go Google it. Top guy is one of the most successful guys in the history of the industry. I worked in the industry.
Are you saying that electric bikes are more expensive??? If so you are 100% wrong …… how much money does it take to build a competitive lites bike ? And how many times do you have to rebuild a 30k engine ? Electric bikes don’t need any mods , no ongoing rebuilds . No exhausts ecu’s etc . They cost 2k more than a stock 450 and you throw a pipe one one and the price is the same . I hit no idea wtf you are talking about
@Ozfreerider_adventures 🤣🤣 You said electric bikes aren't more expensive,...and then say they are $2000 more. There is no rider in the world that can even ride a 450 past the bikes capabilities, let alone a local rider so there is need to go to electric in an attempt for more performance. 4 strokes are more expensive than 2 stroke and electric is more expensive than 4 stroke. Again, no local guy will ever use the 80hp. 2 strokes are lighter, cheaper, easier to work on for regular folks. The switch to 4 strokes was a mistake, and the switch to electric will be too.
@ OK Grandpa. One of the biggest things people are afraid of and uneducated on is change. That is extremely prevalent in this sport one of the things that has made it lag behind so many others for years.
I have had over 40 dirt bikes. Never had more fun than on the Stark Varg. Haven’t even ridden any of my ICE bikes since I got the Stark. Never met one person yet that tried the Stark and did not love it.
If they could come out with a high performance e-moto that cost $5-7K, the blenders might become very popular. You might even see a few more moto track locations pop up because of the lack of noise.
Same whiny comments when the 4 strokes started filtering in (except people bitched they were too loud). Totally adjustable 80 hp, no clutch, no gears, super low maintenance costs and maintenance time. Everyone who rides them says its a game changer.
I think all electric vehicles should be banned , we want to hear noise ! Motocross would be ridiculous from a spectator point of view if you take away the noise , to hear the tone of the engine and the gear changes is a must. Long live the internal combustion engine. P.
