@@jimmyfranklin So, 2 months later, it finally arrived! Gotta say, it's an incredible guitar for the price. They updated the bridge to the new 2020 version as requested, and they also fitted it with a new 2020 3-piece neck with compound radius, which I wasn't expecting but feels and looks amazing! Also, the carves on the back are much improved, with way better access to the top frets, instead of that crescent-shaped carve around the bolt-on screws. (AND they sent it with tools :) - they obviously watched your video) A few things aren't as I'd hoped - the string locks are now a single piece of metal, rather than the strandberg alternating style, which I would have preferred (though I guess it has the benefit of less parts to lose!) The toggle switch, which I was quite looking forward to, has been replaced with a 3-way blade. Also the vol/tone knobs have come in a shiny black metal, rather than the wood finish. But I'll definitely learn to live with (and love) it regardless. Just thought I'd let you know the updates. It does seem though that they've completely dropped this style / shape from their store, and are only focusing on the newer 7-string style with sharper horns.
Looking forward to the direct comparison. Curious to see if the NK can possibility be modded with a true .strandberg* bridge and locking nut. If so, how close is it then to the real thing minus the endurneck. I know the neck is not for everyone but the ergonomic body is. Pickups, that's a personal preference/easy solution so no worries there. With a few mods, this could be the best of both worlds while also saving a few bucks.
@@jimmyfranklin Just a few questions....with the NK as-is, is the overall feel and comfort of the body much different? I wouldn't think by much. Is the NK guitar not having the endurneck more "playable" or is it still just preference? Is getting a used .stranberg* a consideration as the price, while still higher, may be more worth the money? I also like the color/finish options of the NK's along with their ergonomic design. I do the majority of my playing/practicing/writing sitting down so I've been considering this form factor. @@jimmyfranklin I am also far from enthusiastic about the Chinese copies) I bought this guitar after watching the market for a long time, I decided to take a chance) As a result, the guitar turned out to be much better than I expected. I have been using this guitar for about two years now. Of the shortcomings, I can single out a not entirely correct bridge, there are no additional holes for the saddle mounting bolts on the saddle heels, because of this, the course of the scale adjustment is very limited. I bought this guitar as the first headless, in the end it stayed with me forever) Several of my friends have bought new, seven-string models from this company, the guys are extremely happy) In the meantime, I decided to switch my attention to Goc Guitars, now I'm waiting for a guitar from them) Sorry for bad English, take care)

Great video man! I'm actually ordering the purple & blue 7 string 2020 model tomorrow, & if its good I'll be ordering the blue & green 6 string 2020 model. The 2020 models also have the asymmetric neck like Strandbergs. I can't wait to get them.
@@jimmyfranklin apparently it goes from a C shape on the lower frets then goes to a flatter, Wizard style shape. Not sure if that is what the endure necks on a Strandberg is though, as I have never seen one in person. The new necks are also 5 piece & come in fan fret. The builder is apparently very easy to work with, so you can get different necks on each body, usually for free. I'm going to ask for the half ebony/flamed maple fretboard he makes.

Really Really been thinking about getting one of these. One Question though. How is the bridge and tuning? is it hard to tune? and does it stay in tune? and good point about the input jack being in the wrong place for some of these knock-offs. Great vid, very informative
well... what are your goals with it?? as far as studio and home playing goes, it would be great. it does stay in tune very well and is easy to tune. but I can imagine that you may get one that is not as good as this (since a lot of knockoffs tend to be inconsistent). I have only played this one and I could easily gig with it.
@@jimmyfranklin Yes! Though, it's not fan fret. Stainless steel frets, pretty decent pickups, and better hardware than on any of my other guitars hands down. It's unreal.
Very good!! I think I’m this video I mentioned how it compares to the Ibanez AZ. I enjoy it. It’s not super thin but I like a slightly thicker neck for shredding.
the neck at the nut is a different radius than near the 12th fret... it changes to improve reach.. near the nut it is more of a D and it thins out further up!
Sir are you still using that headless guitar? Can I have it please. I'm from the Philippines though. Working minimum wage so its kinda hard hope I'll win this in like a raffle. Haha. I can only imagine.😅
I saw an other video where the guy said that the tuners can’t go probably lower than drop c but the barrel were all the way in the back already ( I don’t know if my comment is understandable ?). What do you think about it ? I’m looking maybe for one and drop it ton drop A or tune it to play like Architects tuning. Thanks !
excelent question.. i havent tried it on this, BUT on my strandbergs its all about setting it up for drop c before you tune it... when you put a new string on, you should be able to set the barrel with enough slack to drop tune!
@@jimmyfranklin look just like the strandberg bridge is different and neck profile slightly off as far as I could tell would love to see some reviews on it
oh contrair bon jour... it has everything to do with the neck... the neck gets thinner in RELATION to the fret board as you move up... its a compound radius neck... thinner at the top and thicker at the bottom would mean the neck on the back has some sort of change in it as well...
Fake means it isn’t real not that it’s low quality like a cardboard guitar or a plastic toy guitars are fake. Every high end Strat like guitar is a knockoff by definition if they $5K and above. Just because a boutique builder builds a Strat it does not make it not a Strat.
Give China another 5-10 years and they'll be cranking out guitars comparable, if not better than anything manufactured here or Japan; they learn quick (Huwai phones instantly come to mind).
@@jimmyfranklin: A good price is subjective, at best, but yes, I do think think (given sufficient time and Western product feedback) that they will indeed improve their guitars/basses as they have with so many of their other products for export to Western countries, to say nothing of their own internal market of some 1.5 billion people. The 'cheap export' paradigm is changing to 'value added' products, even as we speak. Remember Japanese manufacturers Ibanez of the 70s-80s? They weren't always the leaders they are today. Also, I think it's worth remembering that China has a (comparatively) thriving domestic music scene of it's own to consider in this regard, which is largely informed and inspired by the West (same is also true in Russia). -Give them some time; I think we'll live to see some interesting developments coming from China despite the outdated, if often fair criticism concerning quality and innovation. thank you so much! someone else mentioned those. where do you buy them??
@@jimmyfranklin Musoo 8-string fanned-fret electric guitar m.aliexpress.com/item/4000296978864.html. With a price tag of just a fifth of a .strandberg* guitar, surely .schinberg* guitars will be the talk of the town.
Tempted to get an 8 string model, 8 strings always seem to be too cheap or too expensive... I usually always sell gear on and there's obviously not gonna be any resale value on these unless modded kinda. But I guess if you're gonna pay as little as you are for one of these you'll just keep it. Anyhow, great demo mate. They certainty look cool:)
Thank you very much for the review) I have exact same model) Great guitar for it's price , i think)
i honestly was blown away... and as youll see in todays video, i am not the type to like chinese fakes!
@@jimmyfranklin
I am also far from enthusiastic about the Chinese copies) I bought this guitar after watching the market for a long time, I decided to take a chance) As a result, the guitar turned out to be much better than I expected.
Any of these (almost any) can be used as a good base for a killer mod guitar. Usually the woodwork is good enough that it's worth just for the work. YYMV ofc.
When you hit the subscribe button because of the Kurt Cobain joke...well done sir, well done XD
looking forward for the comparison video
It’ll be out soon. Gotta get the guitar from my student one more time hahah!
Great video man! I'm actually ordering the purple & blue 7 string 2020 model tomorrow, & if its good I'll be ordering the blue & green 6 string 2020 model. The 2020 models also have the asymmetric neck like Strandbergs. I can't wait to get them.
REALLY!? they have the fake endure neck?? or just asymmetric??
@@jimmyfranklin apparently it goes from a C shape on the lower frets then goes to a flatter, Wizard style shape. Not sure if that is what the endure necks on a Strandberg is though, as I have never seen one in person. The new necks are also 5 piece & come in fan fret. The builder is apparently very easy to work with, so you can get different necks on each body, usually for free. I'm going to ask for the half ebony/flamed maple fretboard he makes.
@@shannonm7981 WOOOOW! that's incredible... im gonna look into that... look up the endurneck its like a square neck
@@jimmyfranklin I've been looking them up the past half hour & they seem awesome. Hopefully I can try one out in the near future.
check this out iv just got one today and its a beast the pickups are as good as my seymour duncans!!! im staggered! u better believe it its a fucking beauty. im blown away i expected a right knock off job, and iv just bought a cheap 7 string 500 quid ibanez the nk absolutely blows it out the water in every single way. its got me the playing buzz fully, im in love with it; buy them if your thinkin about it especially now the pickups dont need changing, these are just as my seymour duncans il prove it with a video
Do you figure one of these would be decent to learn to play on? Cheap but good enough to get into the basics?
I think so. What kind of music are you into?? Have you ever played???
@@jimmyfranklin All kinds. My playlist has Stevie Nicks next to Dave Mustaine and Yokko Kanno lol. :D As to playing, no. Never have, though I've wanted to try, and with the restrictions, I figured hey, RUclips's got about a billion tutorials...
Awesome! Thanks it’s really recommended to me man!
these guitars kick ass!
I have an Eart GW1 and a Boden Metal 6 neck-thru. Minus the pickups and overall weight (8 vs 5 lbs), they're pretty comparable.
The pickups on the Eart are honestly pretty bad. But everything else is pretty good.
NK has got a new 7 string model now! you should check it out! BTW beautiful playing!
thank you so much! I have to get my hands on one of those! do you have one??

I love the un endured version!! I strongly dislike the fishmans dirty sound... BUT DEM CLEANS
@@jimmyfranklin Jimmy, with around $ 300 to $ 400 worth of upgrades this guitar can become fantastic. That puts it at around $900 . Have you checked out Ukraine custom guitar manufacturer called i think Valravn guitar? On their Facebook page they list a full spec sheet of fully custom, gorgeous guitar with nothing you would have to upgrade later for $1000. Curious about your opinion on that vs this.
@@allboutthemojo I will look into the brand! ive had some bad luck with Russian guitars in the past!

I liked the video because of the amazing playing.....
thank you so much!! anything specific you liked??
The beautiful tapped passages are very tasteful...
Great playing man!! Cool guitar! 🤘🤘
thank you so much!! you have one yet??
@@jimmyfranklin No, I don't have any kind of headless guitar, but it's on my list!
It is not an Ender neck it is an Endure neck. Also it can't be a knock off guitar as the inventer allows the design to be freely used.
Get an Eart headless instead. I'm still pissing myself I was able to snag it off Amazon for $300. Absolutely immaculate.
really??? like.. a headless style???
@@jimmyfranklin Yes! Though, it's not fan fret. Stainless steel frets, pretty decent pickups, and better hardware than on any of my other guitars hands down. It's unreal.

@@jimmyfranklin $310. Absolutely shook.
And before you ask, no, I'm not sponsored. 😂

how good the neck is for shredding?
Very good!! I think I’m this video I mentioned how it compares to the Ibanez AZ. I enjoy it. It’s not super thin but I like a slightly thicker neck for shredding.
@@jimmyfranklin I'm about to pull the trigger, i love everything about it and im willing to throw 200€ on upgrades
Where can I get one of those?
i cant seem to find them anywhere...
Thinking of trading a boss katana 50 watt amp for one of these
Does the guitar stay in tune?
yes! this one stays in tune equally as well as my real strandbergs!
Weight compare to The classic strandberg?
pretty much the same!
I can tell you right now, I havent played a guitar as experytly manufactured as the Boden 8 metal in a long time. FANTASTIC instrument.
So, where do you get one??
EBAY!!
@@jimmyfranklin Ahh I was looking on ebay UK. There's none listed on there! I'll shoot them an email. Cheers!!
How do I find one with active pickups???
Hi,
Where did you buy this guitar?
Thanks.
Alex.
My student bought this on Reverb.com BUT I think it was originally purchased from Ebay
Do they make a fretless version?
Don't blame the guitar for the pinch harmonics, blame your thumb.
Awesome review!
Now you have me looking up their 7 strings online... :-)
OH SHIIIII!!! you going 7!?!?
thought about it; most of the stuff I listen to is usually drop tuned 🤘
Of course, practicing more would also help the cause! 😀
what do you mean about "compound radius neck" ? Is it more C or D profile? Thanks
the neck at the nut is a different radius than near the 12th fret... it changes to improve reach.. near the nut it is more of a D and it thins out further up!
@@jimmyfranklin Ok thanks, but it's strange because most people referred it to a C in this guitar. Thank U!
@@sand69 i definitely didnt feel it as a C as much as a thicker D
Sir are you still using that headless guitar? Can I have it please. I'm from the Philippines though. Working minimum wage so its kinda hard hope I'll win this in like a raffle. Haha. I can only imagine.😅
Where do i buy one?
I saw an other video where the guy said that the tuners can’t go probably lower than drop c but the barrel were all the way in the back already ( I don’t know if my comment is understandable ?). What do you think about it ? I’m looking maybe for one and drop it ton drop A or tune it to play like Architects tuning. Thanks !
excelent question.. i havent tried it on this, BUT on my strandbergs its all about setting it up for drop c before you tune it... when you put a new string on, you should be able to set the barrel with enough slack to drop tune!
where can i buy this strandberg knockoff lol cant seem to find it anywhere
if its from REVERB maybe the other owner did some work?
A qué vendedor se la compraste y por qué medio?? Saludos
esto se compró en Reverb.com pero están disponibles en Ebay. (solía google translate)
How much it cost sir??
This one is around $300! some are a little bit more.. also it has some modifications
link of guitar ??

Why’d you call it a “knockoff” instead of just calling it a “Chinese brand”?

i need to get my hands on one of them!! they do the kockoffs but they look different right???
@@jimmyfranklin look just like the strandberg bridge is different and neck profile slightly off as far as I could tell would love to see some reviews on it
I got an Eart GW2 pro and its awesome! I put duncan pickups in it. Now about to order an NK 7 string to see how it goes.
Compound radius has nothing to do with neck shape, it is the fretboard
oh contrair bon jour... it has everything to do with the neck... the neck gets thinner in RELATION to the fret board as you move up... its a compound radius neck... thinner at the top and thicker at the bottom would mean the neck on the back has some sort of change in it as well...

Ah so beach boy Jimmy. Whose nutty bone is it? Sum ting wong. :-() LOL
Fake means it isn’t real not that it’s low quality like a cardboard guitar or a plastic toy guitars are fake. Every high end Strat like guitar is a knockoff by definition if they $5K and above. Just because a boutique builder builds a Strat it does not make it not a Strat.

AND the Chinese even have a left handed version..
鲁产 (this account for about 90% of Chinese knockoffs
I love the knockoffs!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Give China another 5-10 years and they'll be cranking out guitars comparable, if not better than anything manufactured here or Japan; they learn quick (Huwai phones instantly come to mind).
you think so?? cuz china has always been the cheapest side... you think they could pump out that kind of product like this for a good price??
Thanx for reply.
No.
Looks good for a copy.
You say you don't know how they can make the guitar so inexpensive...???
No way you are that naive.
I am not trying to insult you ...just saying that child labor and human slavery are very serious issues.
ok... wait..first of all, where in the video did i say that?? i just have to check my context... second of all, these are made by one guy.. you can contact him directly for custom orders..
@@jimmyfranklin
I was paraphrasing, but it's at around 10:20.
If they are truly made by one guy then ...my bad.
But at the price and quantities these are being sold, I do not believe that for a minute.
I have (through work) had to deal with World and Cort factories in S.K. and the conditions aren't great.
But let's be honest this is the world we live in today. I like inexpensive stuff too, and am in no way saying I don't buy Chinese stuff. That would be literally impossible to even do. I guess I am upset that the current admin is going to jump right back into bed with China, ignoring all the things we now know are true.
I apologize if I came off as an ass, it's just a touchy issue with me.
