Absolutely happy to have purchased a bottle of DHP and a bottle of the 2017 reformulation of Eau Sauvage Parfum when we were last in Paris. Will have to try a few of these recommendations out especially the Givenchy Gentleman EDP

I haven't tried Dior Homme Intense, I only have the Parfum and my OG Dior Homme, but the ones that I will try is IRIS MALIKHAN and D600, Carner Barcelona is one of my favorite houses since you reviewed Salado (My favorite summer scent) and curiously my SOTD is EL BORN from Carner Barcelona, Licorice to die for, even if it's not listed in the notes. I put myself on a waiting list for Dior Homme Parfum, and one day the company finally told me that it was available again, but it seems like I had only about four seconds to purchase it before it got sold out again. I hope to try all of these D.H.P. alternatives soon. I already own and enjoy Dior Homme Intense.
I feel so lucky that I have 5 Parfum BNIB and I'm planning to let go 2 of them but I'm located in Toronto, Canada.
I took your advice from the past. About a month ago my brother went to Italy for 10 days and I asked him to find me a bottle of DHP. For 7 of the 10 days he could not find it anywhere in Italy not even Dior boutiques. He just so happened to find it for me in a small in the wall perfume shop in Florence. And, he managed to snag me the 75ml older formulation
And yes I have also noticed a strong similarity between iris torrefie and the Dior homme line I thought it was just me
Great video! Carner Barcelona has some great fragrances; Cuirs ( hints at Black Afgano ) but is still doing it’s own thing.Botofumerio ( very interesting take on churchy incense and Palo Santo, a very milk, sweet woodsy experience.

I agree that Carner Barcelona's D600 is a good alternative. I bought it on sale at a shop in Montreal and it's great. I do prefer my original DHI but i don't have much left...so CB D600 is nice to have as an alternative

Interesting about those differences in the VUI reform. I've been a bit reticent to go out and give the new one a test drive, but I must be down to half of my original bottle already. 😕Glad it hasn't changed too much though. Very much agree with Iris Malikhan!

I was fortunate enough to get both DHP and DHI few weeks ago and I'll be honest, I enjoy and like DHI over DHP. Perhaps my nose isn't as sophisticated as those that prefer DHP.
Thats coz a higher iris note within the intense Version ( its More Pleasant) the Parfum one is More dry coz of the leather Note what Makes him More masculine and coz of That its Loved

I have both DHP and DHI some good contenders that I have are Guerlain- Shalimar pafum Initial and Maison Margiela Replica- Lipstick On both are really good too, nice video as always.

Created also by Nathalie Lorson is a really master piece.... Best from Vienna!

• Gold Fair in Mayfair (Atkinsons)
• Le Vestiaire - Velours (YSL)
• Signature Collection - Agar Wood (Dunhill)
• Feu Secret (Bruno Fazzolari)
• Fahrenheit Parfum (Dior)
ALL of them are just beautiful. I would say Gold Fair in Mayfair is even more compelling than DHP, as it's just more complex and sexier. But that's my opinion. Btw I own DHP 2014, too..

I wanted to buy DHP but when I sprayed Habit Rouge EDT my craving was gone, nice powdery leather lemon rose. tenacious and long lasting not identical but still...
I love the DH line, I have the OG and 4 other flankers but sadly I haven’t tried DHP yet. It seems based on your suggestions, although there are alternatives, nothing compares to DHP. I might get Bois d’argent though just because I love Francois Demarchy.

I unfortunately have never had the opportunity to smell Dior Homme (OG), Intense or Parfum but I have smelled some of the alternatives you've listed here. Cuir Zerzura, Iris Torrifie, Bois D'Argent, Prada L'Homme Intense, and Givenchy Gentleman EDP, which is the only one I own.

I have Dior homme Parfum should I get Valentino uomo intense or there's no big difference between the two?
People are buying this in Europe and bringing it back here and selling it for like $250-300 a bottle. Outrageous, I get it because it's so scarce and sought after but I'd never pay much. Practically discontinued prices right there.
An excellent alternative no one talks about that is similar to DHP is Royal Iris from the Roberto Cavalli private collection.
Do you know which is the current Givency gentleman that is close or an alternative? I couldn’t find that color bottle at the store so I smelled all and found Givency Gentleman Reserve Privee EDP to smell closest to Dior Intense. -Thank you in advance

It was not in duty free in Paris when my friend checked a month ago. Luckily I ended up getting two bottles from a discounter in Canada.
Nathalie Lorson just took Bentley intense, removed the boozy rum, and replace it with the vanilla from zadig for him. added some iris and gave us Givenchy Gentleman EDP.

Prada L'homme Intense is more of an earthy take on iris with violet. 😙👌🏾

Valentino Uomo Intense is going be people's best option. but it's a little more on the leather vanilla side with the lipstick vibe coming through here and there.

People argue DHP reformulation between the 75 and the repackaged 2020 (2019, technically), but the formulation code have remained the same for DHP for several years now

I think DHI is honestly the best alternative. Not quite the same but about 85% similar and beautiful in it's own ways. I actually prefer it just due to it's higher wearability

I picked up a bottle of the Dior Homme Parfum 2020 at the Paris airport (CDG) in January 2022. They have it in Duty Free and a Dior boutique at the airport.
I sold my bottle of DHI pre formulation. It just did not last on my skin. Too bad because i really did like it.

@@ThePerfumeGuy Thank you I have yet to actually try the original. I'm very much enjoying the Alexandria inspiration "The Godfather". Chris From Fragmental said he couldn't pick up the difference. Strong performer. Starts off with a fruity almost banana nut bread like opening(not gourmand but mouthwatering non the less) before settling into that cozy boozy/woody/musky drydown. Heard the original has a prominent rose accord. Don't get rose here.
I have a bottle, but so scared to open it lol. I'll stick with my DHI til I can find a backup of the DHP

I have both DHI and DHP and only reach for DHP. I have a backup bottle of both DHI and DHP but DHP is very low and scared to use it more in case I run out.

The leather note in Dior Homme Parfum reminded me instantly of Acqua di Parma's Leather, which was also created by Francois Demachy. I have layered Dior Homme Intense with Acqua di Parma Leather and it gets you in the ballpark of Dior Homme Parfum. I've also layered Dior Homme Intense with Acqua di Parma Oud (also a Demachy creation) and it kind of works too.

Hard to find a substitution for DHP I'm actually surprised Dior hasn't moved it into a priveè bottle for 3 times the price it smells that well made.

I read and heard from so many people that Valentino Uomo Intense works better at night and you need to wear a suit otherwise the fragrance will wear you and not the other way round. My question is what about the rest of the list like Givenchy Gentlemen edp, Prada L'Homme Intense and Guerlain IrisTorrefei. Does that reply on them too ?

Great video! DHP & DHI r great. I love Bois d'Argent but due to $ grabbed Van Cleef & Arpels Bois d'Iris which is still a good alternative to Bois d'Argent. I def enjoyed D600 and Oh La La as well. Just got a sample of Iris Torrefie now more excited to try it. Also have a sample of Tanagra so will have to try that too. U have absolutely made me want to try Iris Malikhan so much! Celine Black Tie ive heard is similar to DHI and Celine Nightclubbing another iris but further away from what I understand but would love to know if uve tries them. Thanks Sebastian.

Yves Saint Laurent's Le Vestiaire - Velours is also a pretty good alternative (if found at discount, anyway) - imo is almost a cross between DH & Prada Luna Rosa Black (the latter which also reminds me of D600, coincidentally)

I just bought elixir here in uae and you are convincing me to get this one. actually is a toss up last week. if I am going with dhp or the elixir. since dhp is just around here in dior uae, I went for sauvage elixir. the scent is just intoxicating for me. don't get me wrong. they are both intoxicating masterpiece scent. I might go back to dior boutique again or just order it online next month. 😅
You might as well have, both, Christian. The Elixir is great and bit like older classics. The DHP is a one of a kind must have!

Got a 10 ml decant from ebay but waiting for my bro in law to go to France to get a full bottle. Does not make any sense that Dior doesn't sell DHP in the US. DHI is not equal to it.

I am in Mallorca Spain I went to the local cosmetic shop and there it was Dior Homme Parfum 75ml €108 Euros. My heart just dropped. I tried everything to get it in London UK. I could no get it. But her I. Mallorca at this small little local cosmetic shop has it. Oh my God.

Surprising similarities can be found between Dior Homme Parfum and Knize Ten Golden Edition. I would not want to miss any of the two in my collection.

To me Dior Homme Parfum (DHP) and Knize Ten Golden Edition (KTGE) share a first blast of zesty orange followed by the prominent powderyness of Iris. In the heart you can find several floral notes with the two fragrances - I particularly pick up a distanced rose with both - next to warm spices like cinnamon. I have to say that DHP is more focused on the floral notes than KTGE is, and latest when the leather-vibe both fragrances feature takes over, they differ from each other quite a bit. At this point DHP resembles a smooth, brand new, french designer leather jacket someone wears with fancy make-up. KTGE is a rugged, inherited, austrian leather coat someone wears with a fur collar. DHP is a more friendly and rather "feminine" scent. KTGE has its edges, slightly medicinal - a rather "masculine" scent. But then both fragrances get closer to each other again in the drydown, when warm and ever so slightly smokey sandalwood gives a vibrant coziness to both fragrances while sweet musky and partly animalic notes keep them interesting until the very end.
Carner Barcelona is definitely one of the more underrated houses.

Dior Homme Original EDT is a light fresher take and the original to the EDP or Parfum!! 😀
Make sure you don’t get the DIor Homme 2020 they do not smell anything alike.
In one of your videos, you mentioned Halston Z14. What a super fragrance, one of my favorites that I used to buy for my Dad in the 70/80’s. Also Paco Rabanne (70s) and Aramis Soap-on-a-Rope! Ah, memories.

Dior Homme Intense is certainly not lighter than Dior Homme (2011). Did you watch the video? This is about Dior Homme Parfum which came out in 2014 and is 'heavier' than DHI.
Is there any difference between Dior Homme Parfum and 2020 version?
