I prefer a keyboard and mouse for mostly every game I play but games like Assassin's Creed, in my opinion, are horrendous when played with a keyboard and mouse, I prefer to use controllers with them. Honestly, controller in my opinion, is better to use in story based games that aren't competitive so you can have a more relaxed experience, maybe its just me.
@@fica1137 a lot actually, the controls for AC on PC are very clunky, and take away from my experience since I focus more on trying to press the right buttons, vs me just using the simplicity of the controller.
Exactly . In games like God of War, Tomb Of Raider , Uncharted and basically what you said , story based games but not Life is Strange type of games then a controller is better . The handling with keyboard and mouse is weird in these types of games . I've been using both frequently for more than 25 years and I enjoy using both in different situations. What I think is unfair about this video however is that it ignores the two greatest advantages of keyboard and mouse which is a) the fact that the analogue manipulations of a stick stick translates into a movement, whereas a the manipulation of the mouse translates into a position. There's acertain "being in control" feeling, you'll never have using a controller. b) On a keyboard you can have 10 fingers on 10 different keyes, ready to press them without having to move there. Remember those days when you tried to do your first mortal kombat fatality and almost broke your thumb doing "Forward, Forward, Down, Down, Low Kick etc. and be really fast?" Well on a computer, you're able to type the word "discombobulated" five times in a row without a typo in less than ten seconds.... now think of combos as words... All in all I'm not writing this because I think keyboard and mouse is always better. I wouldn't have 4 different controllers if I didn't use them - but leaving out the advantages is just not fair. P.S. You could create an insanely accurate way of controlling a vehicle via mouse in a racing game - but honestly - I wouldn't want that...
The best way I would personally put it is that a mouse and keyboard is better for First person games whether its shooters, RPGs, horror. As well as menu heavy games like RTSs, life syms etc. Controllers are much better for 3rd person and fighting games since a controller has a more streamlined and simple design. With a key board you have over 100 buttons to be aware of in relation to your fingers. As a new PC gamer I have to look at my keys CONSTANTLY just so that I'm aware of where my fingers are in relation to the buttons I need to push.
Pc gamer for over 20 years, exclusively since PS2. I used to only use kb+m player for most of that time. But around 5 years ago, as I got older I realized I just wanted to chill on my couch with my cat. I got one of those gaming couch desk things and it works but tbh that wasn’t as comfortable as a nice chair. A controller is just the peak of chilling out when playing a game and now even in a chair I will often use a controller. I don’t play competitive shooters so really for any other use it is just preference. I still like kb+m but honestly unless I’d rather play high refresh rate 1440p stuff on a monitor, which is rare, I will always prefer a nice big 4K tv and relaxing on the couch with a controller. I have found though that having a controller with extra paddles really helps with pc gaming since being able to bind 4 extra things to the controller in addition to the standard buttons is a pretty big deal for a lot of games.
My brother got me a wireless gaming keyboard so I can sit comfortably anywhere and not be stuck at a desk. I love this set up! You can also bind even more functions to the keyboard than a controller too. I currently looking at the one-handed mini-keyboards and will see how that goes!
I'm replaying Castlevania LoS after some time (5 o 6 years) with controller and I'm enjoying much more than the first time (it's worth mentioning the game is crappy designed for keyboard). From now on maybe I'll play every hack n slash with controller, but for any game I need to aim, mouse all the way.
I disagree with #4 I have had the same keyboard and mouse for 5 years and the mouse which has gotten more play time is only recently started to pixel skip once in awhile. I have the same 3 Xbox one controllers for about 7 years now and all 3 of them has something fucked with em from fatigue failure. 3 controllers spread between 7 years is about 2.33 years each, at 60 dollars a pop. I feel like in the long run keyboard and mouse is the better investment.
1st reason is depends who you ask some ppl think kb+m is more confortable and some others think controller is more comfortable 2nd reason rumble gives a disadvantage because not only does it put your aim off but it wastes the battery of the controller
You see, I am not a fan of console aiming with analog sticks alone in 3D games at all. I find it disorienting and it is very uncomfortable to play for me. Just yesterday, I played gta San Andreas on the ps4 and was very frustrated compared to the more precise camera and general experience i had on pc. But I think there could be a solution to this. While not experiencing it in a lot of games (mostly Nintendo games) gyro-aiming really changed my perspective on playing games with a controller. Such a shame that games do not often support that feature on ps4, compared to the Nintendo switch or Steam Input.
You kinda get used to it. I mean even without modern things like aim-assist and all that crap, if you're more used to playing with a controller in general then you find ways to compensate for the shortcomings. Usually when it comes to aiming, it is far easier to move the character to get the crosshair onto the target than to try and shift it to the correct spot with the right analog stick. Still... as I've mentioned a few times against different comments on this video, if suddenly switching to the mouse when I need to aim and then switching back to the controller to move the character is an option, I'll take it.
@@SotiCoto I have heard from a friend of mine that positioning is more important in console games than on pc. i absolutely enjoy playing gta 5 with a mixture of mouse and controller btw. for flying or driving the controller is bliss because of analog control.

If you are talking about casual players you are right. However competitive players have to decide what makes more sense for the game they play. FPS - mouse keyboard. Racers and fighting games - controller. I play rocket league as a competitive player with controller.
Personally to me it's just like they say about shooting. "Fast is fine but accuracy is FINAL." Sure things are laid out really nice on a controller but accuracy cannot be questioned with a mouse.
The 5th one that you call "controversial" was pretty much most of the reasons Controllers are better than M&K awkwardly crammed into one reason. Most of the other things you listed.... unimportant. Rumble isn't really a big deal. And while comfort is a factor, it doesn't necessarily contribute to effectiveness in a game. See, the problem with the whole debate is that the Mouse and Keyboard are two SEPARATE devices. And ultimately the Mouse is the FAR stronger side of the combo. All the keyboard has going for it are loads of shortcut buttons. A controller's Left analog stick is objectively superior to WASD for movement purposes. That just leaves the controllers Right analog stick versus the mouse, which often comes up in favour of the mouse because it is a different style of control to an analog stick. Its movements are effectively position-based rather than direction+force based... which obviously makes it much quicker and precise to target specific points on the screen (e.g. for strategy games or FPS crosshairs). Conversely it gives no benefit whatsoever when you're not aiming for a precise position on the screen, like almost any situation where you're using a melee weapon. Take Fallout 4 for example. You would be best off using a mouse if you're sniping, or using a pistol in a firefight. BUT if you're using a knife or power fist there is absolutely no advantage conferred by the M&K combination at all... and you would do better with a controller. So the honest answer is that an Analog Stick is best for movement and the Mouse is best for precise aim. But good luck making that combination work consistently. I have been able to play some games with Controller + Mouse, or switching back and forth. I did this in Mount & Blade Warband a lot, using mouse for the overworld and switching to controller for combat. I also did it for Fallout New Vegas, though I specifically needed a mod to allow me to switch between control inputs with a shortcut key. Still, being able to alternate between M&K or Controller, or better yet have both input options work at the same time, is definitely the best choice. Overall though, controller is the better all-round option... and it mostly comes down to superiority over WASD.
It totally depends where you are comfortable . From 2007 to 2020 I used to play on keyboard and mouse . Then I tried controller and I using it since then for racing games and RPGs cause it is precise for those games but when there is fps controller falls short you can't play it you just can't . mouse feels like you are controlling gun
Hey, pc keyboard and mouse are the only good way to play first and third person shooters. Most other games are better on controller(not all, most). I couldn't imagine call of duty without keyboard and mouse, but I can't imagine gran dark souls without controller likewise
It’s really up to what you’re used to using. But for me a controller is much more versatile, and with some producers making a dedicated competitive gaming controllers, I’d say it’s a better choice.
You can like it better but versatile?. No. Sorry. 100+ rebindable keys and precision controls?. I have been gaming forever. I like a controller but there are few things they do better than a keyboard and mouse
The difference between KB+M and controller in first-person and third-person shooters stems from them each controlling in the exact opposite manner. In other words, when using a controller, you need to move as if you're a tank, mostly moving around with the character's body and making small adjustments here and there when aiming. Conversely, with KB+M, your character has relatively little movement and you almost entirely steer with the mouse. Consider a basic obstacle course, where you have to run forward and zig-zag between pillars. With a controller, you'd likely do almost all the movement with the left analog stick and maybe make an adjustment here or there with the right analog stick. With KB+M, you'd simply press "W" to go forward and then guide yourself entirely by aiming the mouse. Now when someone who normally uses KB+M or controller tries the opposite set of controls, they instinctively try to play as if they're using the controls they're most accustomed to and that doesn't work. At best it'll be hilariously comical, but at worst it'll be incredibly frustrating as it'll seem like you can't control where you go or aim. While all of that is subjective, there is one thing that is objective here and that is you can aim FAR more precisely with a mouse than you can a controller. There's a reason why console games have larger hitboxes and aim assist. Have someone use a controller in a PC first-person shooter (so there would be smaller hitboxes and no aim assist) against players using KB+M and the controller player will likely get curb-stomped. To be fair, the above is relatively meaningless because everyone's using a controller on console FPS games and it's exceedingly rare to find someone who'd be masochistic enough to use anything except KB+M in a PC FPS game.
Analog stick is objectively better than WASD for movement, as you kinda clarified. I really think that peripheral developers ouught to have realised by now that we need a Controller+Mouse option. Or maybe more left-handed analog stick devices to serve as an alternative to WASD.
Obviously keyboard and mouse are better, but i dont like sitting at desk like im doing homework. Relaxing in a chair and playing just feels more confortable.
I completely agree to that except the lazy part. BTW I've seen some amazing pro players on consoles too but usually pro players prefer the Keyboard and mouse!
I stay on controller even know I have a $6000 gaming setup for some reason my hipfire accuracy is twice as good as any mouse player will ever be. I can agree that a normal controller is a joke for competitive thats about it. I have 4 paddled with two extra side buttons and a custom made thumbsticks by Microsoft's for my elite controller. Basically the holy grail of controllers setups.
I find myself to be immersed in a game not because of what I have, but what I think and see. I only need sound and visuals for immersion, and no need for haptic feedback when you can think about the feeling.
As a guy who loves the controller this video is so wrong... I hate vibration and also no matter how good you are and how much aim assist you get, k and m will always be on top... Unless you really good and are using a scuf with cronusmax.
Unknown what’s the point of playing controller if you can’t flick or are you suggesting that the controller is worse which I say no because controller is all out easier to hit what ever button you need and on controller you actually have to have skill
Karma lacks skill It all depends on your play style, also it depends what game we’re talking about here cause if you’re talking about fortnite than yeah you do need that to build but not really X and Y, it’s all preference, to be good all you need is good aim, prediction, awareness, and overall out skilling opponents with that... that’s why they made two separate sensitivities for building and shooting
100% correct. I have short domed sticks and a super high sensitivity and it feels like I’m playing on PC. I’d rather move my thumbs than flick my arm 2 feet to shoot someone
When you play a console imported game on PC, you get weird situations where you have to open multiple menus to do something like looking at the map, instead of pressing M you need to open a menu, use arrow keys to find map, and then open map, which is super annoying. When playing PC imported games on console, you often find some previously strait forward things need to be accessed though combo keys or secondary menus, especially dealing with inventory, which just makes the game slow. And there are games that are just too complex for console. FPS is bad enough, sandbox is worse, and I can't imagine how can they put games that require a lot of typing in console.
Adventure games with control Open world games with keyboard and mouse Fighting games with arcade control but normal control is not better, too Shooter game with keyboard and mouse Exclusive Shooter game on console with control Role playing games with keyboard and mouse OK Bye
My problem is that some game are simply too hard to play with a controller when it comes to aiming. I always want to play with the controller but after failing hard too much I go back to the mouse and keyboard and things that were incredibly hard become easy or manageable. There is no excuse for some games sucking so much with a controller. I wish I only used a controller but i would miss so many games.
I suppose it depends on what type of game I was playing a point and click game then obviously a mouse would be the preferred device but when I play a platform I would rather use a controller it's just a shame that so many games are still made today with poor or no controller support. I know you can use Xpadder to make a controller work but it's just a hassle to have to do it when using a keyboard, mouse or a gamepad should really be a basic option.
so since i have a pc for like 1 week now i can say that there are many games where i still prefer a controller over pc and mouse example: When playing racing games(I know racing wheel is better), In games like star wars jedi fallen order the force unleashed etc, driving in general, in games like stick fight where mouse and keyboard makes me crazy and sop on. games I prefer over controller: Minecraft (Because of fast turning speed, faster clicking, faster crafting, even tho i am still better in controller pvp lol), gta 5 exept for driving, fortnite(even tho i play rarely. i also forgot controller is more comfortable in emulators which is probably self explaned
A few thoughts FWIW: I seem to be prone to joint pain and circulation issues which arise from posture and repetitive keystrokes, but don't have any issues controller-wise I get that it's easier to aim with a mouse, but I honestly prefer the challenge and trying to overcome it. It's easier to drive an automatic car, but when I do, I feel less involved with the car. If I weren't improving or enjoying myself, then I would probably have a different opinion. I have a friend who tells me I'm nuts for using a controller, but rather than get into a pointless argument about interface preferences, I'd rather be judged by my ability. If my game play is crappy, then chew my ear off about it, but if you're the weak player, spare me the lecture. I plan to double-down on controllers and pick up a scuf elite / infinity to see how much better I can get. Thanks for the vid ✌
I honestly prefer controllers because not everyone is going to b growing up with a powerful computer, and you don't have to reach 2 feet away just to hit a button for 1 action. Lag, bad keyboard, bad mouse, and slow movements aren't good. Controller? oh boy just move your thumb 2 inches and you're good. Controllers often come in two kinds: the crappy off brand, or the main-stream controller, so that isn't really an issue. Slow movements? Less movement. Lag? Thats your fault for having bad wifi skrub.
Controllers also have a consistent physical circular barrier around the thumbsticks helping in feedback info for aiming so with theoretical and possibly enough time you could potentially be more accurate then a mouse. That is until they invent a circular shape mouse with a custom designed mouspad.
Ok then 1. Too many keys. This will require you more muscle memory and effort which is SUCK! This can mess with your brain. 2. No omnidirectional movement. (You can only move in 8 directions on keyboard). Wanna aim? Use controller and mouse. It's possible.
You can play claw on controller I do. And this eliminates having to use your thumbs for buttons and just use your pointer fingers or you can play half claw and just use your right pointer finger for your main buttons allowing you to jump while moving your analog and press any other buttons you need all at once
@@Hexagon5791 Stop calling people idiots just because you are lazy to learn keyboard & mouse If you didn't want to waste your time you wouldn't be playing videogames at all stupid
This is wrong because, they have done study’s and it says that the way keyboard and mouse has a better reaction and better aim without aim assists, it’s why controllers need aim assist. Emerson and comfortability are opinion. Also the statement that controllers are cheaper then controllers are false, and I can buy a good keyboard for the same money I could buy with a crap controller. And there are so little games that don’t control well with keyboard it’s really not a problem.
No I’m sorry but this is misleading, it’s not a matter of making console player “feel “ bad I used to be one but I could not lie to myself or ignore it any longer, so many reasons why keyboard & mouse are far better, not to mention all of the other perks of pc gaming
Keyboard is better, because they have more key's and controller's suck because they have less keybind's and you can still enjoy the game you don't need a couch to enjoy it.
The only reasonable point I see here is comfort, a.k.a. ergonomics, which should be a big consideration when gaming to take care of your wrists and shoulders
agreed! I myself am a hardcore keyboard and mouse user and I have never used a controller much,I have been a keyboard and mouse user ever since i started gaming! I never found a video talking about the pros of a controller so that's why I made this one! Thanks for watching
No contest. 1. Consoles NEVER come with a mouse and keyboard. 2. Controllers = 4 variable inputs, mouse = 3 variable inputs, keyboard = 0 variable inputs.

DutchManticore well that’s your preference
I've been using both frequently for more than 25 years and I enjoy using both in different situations. What I think is unfair about this video however is that it ignores the two greatest advantages of keyboard and mouse which is
a) the fact that the analogue manipulations of a stick stick translates into a movement, whereas a the manipulation of the mouse translates into a position.
I’m a pc player the only time I use controller is when I play rocket league
100% agreed.
My brother got me a wireless gaming keyboard so I can sit comfortably anywhere and not be stuck at a desk. I love this set up! You can also bind even more functions to the keyboard than a controller too. I currently looking at the one-handed mini-keyboards and will see how that goes!

From now on maybe I'll play every hack n slash with controller, but for any game I need to aim, mouse all the way.
There is more stability in m&k. Controller gamers have to ensure some level angular momentum balance between the two hands on one controller.
Racing games control better with a wheel btw
I disagree with #4 I have had the same keyboard and mouse for 5 years and the mouse which has gotten more play time is only recently started to pixel skip once in awhile. I have the same 3 Xbox one controllers for about 7 years now and all 3 of them has something fucked with em from fatigue failure. 3 controllers spread between 7 years is about 2.33 years each, at 60 dollars a pop. I feel like in the long run keyboard and mouse is the better investment.
1st reason is depends who you ask some ppl think kb+m is more confortable and some others think controller is more comfortable
2nd reason rumble gives a disadvantage because not only does it put your aim off but it wastes the battery of the controller
Rumbling is good only for story mode games
Me who uses keyboard, mouse, controller, And phone.
The controller is good with the aim assist level 90000
Im a Controller player but never use rumble bc it’s just distracts you
You see, I am not a fan of console aiming with analog sticks alone in 3D games at all.

If you are talking about casual players you are right. However competitive players have to decide what makes more sense for the game they play. FPS - mouse keyboard. Racers and fighting games - controller. I play rocket league as a competitive player with controller.
Still Keyboard and Mouse Combo is Best..
For most games.
For right handed 😅
Because you can move slow and fast with the analog stick XD
Personally to me it's just like they say about shooting. "Fast is fine but accuracy is FINAL." Sure things are laid out really nice on a controller but accuracy cannot be questioned with a mouse.
Vibrating Mouses could have lot of uses other than using it to control a PC😂
eh i prefer keyboard and mouse. much better and easier to use in shooting games but its your preferences that matters
It’s so hard to get used to play on controller since I’m a kb player since day one I’ll just quit on becoming a controller player
Hey, pc keyboard and mouse are the only good way to play first and third person shooters. Most other games are better on controller(not all, most). I couldn't imagine call of duty without keyboard and mouse, but I can't imagine gran dark souls without controller likewise
Coughs in gyroscope aim
It’s really up to what you’re used to using. But for me a controller is much more versatile, and with some producers making a dedicated competitive gaming controllers, I’d say it’s a better choice.
You can like it better but versatile?. No. Sorry. 100+ rebindable keys and precision controls?. I have been gaming forever. I like a controller but there are few things they do better than a keyboard and mouse

@@Elite_Gamer_1337 I won't use the P word but for the love of good you have to be ignoring basic fact to believe what he is saying.
hardly any precision in fps games using controller

Controllers are better
A few thoughts FWIW:
I seem to be prone to joint pain and circulation issues which arise from posture and repetitive keystrokes, but don't have any issues controller-wise
I get that it's easier to aim with a mouse, but I honestly prefer the challenge and trying to overcome it.
😀 Soo Underrated! Great content man! Keep going!
Controllers also have a consistent physical circular barrier around the thumbsticks helping in feedback info for aiming so with theoretical and possibly enough time you could potentially be more accurate then a mouse. That is until they invent a circular shape mouse with a custom designed mouspad.
