Another great video, thanks Gem! Had the second printing but sold it last year since it was going for a big price tag. Decided to get this latest printing and really love the new cover design.
Hey Gem, Next time can you please give us a comparison shot of the binding of both books. The newer one seemed to want to snap shut, the older one stayed open wonderfully. But it may have been red more. Sometimes companies improve the bindings... Sometimes they don't. The reprint of Ennis Punisher Omnibus didn't have better binding than the original. The teen Titans reprints have way better binding. Its nice to know...for us book nerds..
no, we're gonna wait until the following weekend. we will drop a non-spoiler and spoiler review tomorrow. we're also going live sunday night after game of thrones.
Thanks Gem. I grabbed this 3rd printing since I didn't have it. I say worth the buy if you don't have it, but no need to upgrade if you got the 2nd printing. Plus that black dustjacket and wraparound hardcover, can't beat it.
Reading the new one now...enjoyable. I read the main story when it came out but never read all of the tie ins...some of the mini stories are pretty bad...like Lois Lane in Scuba Gear...over all about halfway through and like it.
My very first Omnibus was Big Damn Sin City. Was the only way I could get all the stories. I grabbed TDAROS Omnibus after watching the DC Animated movies. I've had The Death Of Superman forever but never had The Return Of Superman.
I owned the second printing and I hemmed and hawed over buying the new one...which I did since it has a bunch more material. But please, DC, no fourth printing!!! :)
yes but new one are the extra 7? issues worth it cos im bout buy that now for $227, or the 2nd print for $110....tryin find out if the extra few issues and annuals matter at all??? or just nice to have?
For some reason the third printing is crazy rare now. It is selling used for $600+ and new for $880+ as of right now. I’d be as bold as to make the claim that is one of if not the rarest widely released omnibus.
@@GemMintCollectibles Good to know! I decided not to upgrade too. Found out that the added material on the new printing is the Bloodline series, which isn't really relevant to the material. Do you agree?
Is this a good place to start reading Superman? I've been lookin' for a jumping on point for "The Man of Steel" thought Bendis would be where but nope that stuff has been wack. I've heard that Superman Rebirth is a good starting point as well. I've read Superman for Tomorrow and Superman: Red Son. I grew up during Death Of Superman ('84 represent) but have never read the story.
I read this story a lot time ago, but didn't keep reading Superman. I only started a couple of months ago and I started with Rebirth. I think it's a good starting point. If you want to do it, you kind of need this omnibus as prerequisite for the Action Comics Rebirth (there's two titles, Superman and Action comics), which is written by the same author (Dan Jurgens.) Then read the Lois and Clark paperback which is a miniseries leading to Superman Rebirth (Road to Rebirth.) I recommend getting the Deluxe Editions, 3 books for Action Comics and 4 for Superman.
I think Rebirth is a great starting point. I would also recommend the essential Superman stories like "For the Man Who Has Everything" by Alan Moore, "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?" by Joe Kelly, and "Brainiac" by Geoff Johns.
Thank you so much, it was a wonderful help to showing us AND compare the 2 omnis, ordered already :) Same as always, keep up the good work man!
This will be my first omni. Very informative.
never clicked so fast on a video before, thanks for the info Gemmint
I just bought it. Can't wait to finally read the whole epic story.
I don't read Superman, but damn those omnibuses look amazing!
Love your stuff, man. This helped a lot. Thanks and peace.
i have been waiting for this upload, awesome work man!

yea i should have
I assume the older one has been read, while the new one hasn't.
Always stay "Omni-formative" with Gem Mint
Yo good stuff gem, keep up the hard work!
Side note, will y’all be going live this weekend to discuss endgame?
no, we're gonna wait until the following weekend. we will drop a non-spoiler and spoiler review tomorrow. we're also going live sunday night after game of thrones.
Gem 💎 I know you will buy the new one lol 😂 its a matter of time 👍

I watched the cartoon version of the Death of Superman as teenager!
It would be hilarious if you handed the 2nd print back to Manimal and keep the new one..... good looking out!
Reading the new one now...enjoyable. I read the main story when it came out but never read all of the tie ins...some of the mini stories are pretty bad...like Lois Lane in Scuba Gear...over all about halfway through and like it.
This was very helpful. Thanks so much!
Thank for the info Gem. Next time show us the binding as well. I'd wager that's what's preventing many of us from buying these big ass DC omnis.
yea i dropped the ball on that
Dope video my dear friend
I got the new edition yesterday. Love it. I had no previous editions. Get it Gem!!’ :-)
the omnibus is worth it just for the flip out page 😂
My very first Omnibus was Big Damn Sin City. Was the only way I could get all the stories. I grabbed TDAROS Omnibus after watching the DC Animated movies. I've had The Death Of Superman forever but never had The Return Of Superman.
Great help bro! Was about to ask you for this one.
Awesomeness! I've always like Doomsday a lot. Not sure if I'll get these though, since I have the latest big tpb collections.
Cool video man, informative and dope
Death of Superman and Maximum Carnage were two of the first comic books I purchased and read as a child too. We must be around the same age.
36
Ok I am 35
I owned the second printing and I hemmed and hawed over buying the new one...which I did since it has a bunch more material. But please, DC, no fourth printing!!! :)
DEW IT DC DEWWWWWW ITTTTT! Especially as I missed out and it's now going for an arm and a leg, Sob
Thanks 😊

So the first real omnibus does not have a single issue that is not found in the new edition?
yea it didnt seem like
Awesome video man!
Great Review!
This one is hard to find I guess I'll be patient
Fell your pain brother, feel your pain.
@@JennySparkz let us hope for good news

makes no sense...so many of these books out there
@@GemMintCollectibles haha you’re right man, it’s the name of the game I guess, and the game can be pretty bizarre at times.
Where you bought all omnibus ? sorry i'm newbie
www.instocktrades.com
Thanks for the video. Is the paper quality the same?
yea felt the same
@@GemMintCollectibles Thanks! That makes it an easy choice.
Good and quick review! The first printing, is that like the second one? Same cover and interior?
no the 1st print is a standard size hc...im not sure what graphics are on it
Gem Mint Collectibles ok, thanks!
Greetings! I have a one question not connect with this video... How many vibranium and adamantium collection exist?
I was looking around Superman comics until I found this. Is it worth getting than the 4 part comic set?
I wont upgrade to the black one. But thanks for the video anyways
Hey Gem! I own the 2nd printing, and I was wondering if I should upgrade by getting the new printing? Did you ever pick up the new printing?
no i didnt end up upgrading
@@GemMintCollectibles Good to know! I decided not to upgrade too. Found out that the added material on the new printing is the Bloodline series, which isn't really relevant to the material. Do you agree?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey gem, you think $55-60 is a good price for a used copy of the third print?
yes
Sweet never picked up the second printing so probably gonna have to pick up the new one
Prefer the newer version. Is the content different?
Did you watch the video?
Is this new edition out of print now??
Too short of a review could have shown some pages, getting soft gem man. lol thx for the vide, have a great day.
Never read this but plan on getting it. Off topic but did you ever end up getting vol 3 sandman omnibus?
no b/c i have all the absolutes
@@GemMintCollectibles So, did you abandon the "omnibus over absolutes" philosophy?
i dont know what im doing anymore lol
Gem, im New in comics and I dont know where to star, which omni would you recommend? (Marvel or dc)
im so bad with recommendations...id say skim through some of my recent reads playlist and see what catches your eye

Is the cover of the second printing included as an extra in the latest printing?
no
Gem Mint Collectibles damn then I have to keep both... awesome review but I disagree on which cover is better...
Show the new issues?
The third printing is it still available on ist or no?
yes
Thanks. Which binding is the best ?
the new one
Ok, don’t tell my banker 😄
How much did Manimal spend on this omni ?
it would have been 50% off cover from IST. So $62.50 with free shipping
I want the new edition and they are selling it for 300$ - 400$😫
Seeing the page flap and how it's collected in the second printing really makes it obvious it's not worth it if someone already owns it.
So the new one is better om assuming
yes and has 4 more issues or so
@@GemMintCollectibles thanks Gem
I neef both of those in my life
Flex.
That black omni is absolutely fire except for the price
