Silver Stacking 16-Year-Old Impresses Seasoned Bullion Dealer (and EVERYONE in the Coin Shop)!!

  • In this video I talk with a gold stacking veteran try to trade in his gold Valcambi CombiBar and fractional gold coins for gold maples. He traveled from Arizona to visit Tim Marschner of the Coin and Stamp Shop in Manchester, NH for the first time! I also try to convince a 67-year-old man NOT to sell his brother 90% silver dimes, 90% silver quarters (including silver Standing Liberty quarters) and 40% silver half dollars. Am I successful in making a new silver stacker? And finally, I speak with a 16-year-old who stacks silver and is mesmerized by the gold in Tim's shop. His father taught him to collect coins and stack silver, and the way this young man talks about precious metals, our failing US economy, the Federal Reserve, and the value of real money impresses everyone in the shop! The US dollar's reserve currency status is in jeopardy and silver and the rush to silver and gold may end soon! Watch as we discuss why stacking gold and silver to protect yourself from out-of-control governments and central banks is more important than ever before. If we abandon physical cash and adopt a central bank digital currencies, gold and silver spot prices may rise quickly and dramatically and you'll need a good stack of silver rounds, silver bars, silver coins, and gold coins as essential barter and wealth preservation.

    I wish I had started earlier. I could've been pulling 90% coins out of circulation when I was a kid. Pretty rare these days... My son, OTOH, is 13 and has a monster stack! He just bought his first 10 oz silver bar out of his own pocket, and crossed the $1500 mark, all told. He gets bummed because I have a lot more, but I say, I'm 50! At 13, you're WAY ahead of me... He and his sister don't know this, but they're getting their first gold piece in their stockings this Christmas. 20 Franc roosters. They're gonna freak!

      I was 16 years old in 1965 and there were still tons of 90% silver in circulation back then. I didn't buy any then but did in 1979, where I bought 3 $100 bags of US 90%
      silver coins around $17.50 an oz. Later I sold them for $42, $44, and $46 an oz. That profit started me in stock investing. That was rocky at first but turned out really
      well. Retired at age 55 in 2004 and have been cruising along ever since. Silver stack completed in 2019, hope to complete the gold stack in 2024. A drop in the GSR
      would be a BIG help there, as that would allow me to do some serious trading of silver for gold. Woo Hoo!

      I was still doing some of that (sports, toys, bs etc) when I was 50..but did save a bit. Got into some coins finally at age 66 so kind of a late bloomer. It will likely be better for the kids then it is for me. I'll be leaving it to them unless it might be needed. Might be insurance in a way.

    • @edb3877
      @edb3877 10 месяцев назад

      @@toivotorvinen I bloomed as a stacker in 2010 at the age of 61. But I was not wasting time or money, just busy making a good amount in the stock market.
      2008 was my "Wake-Up!" call. At that point I realized that earning a lot in the market was only 1/2 the game. The other half was protecting what I had. I did
      have a good attitude about the market, though, and did not sell a single share when the market collapsed. Instead, I continued to buy more shares. By early
      in 2010, all of the money I'd "lost" was back in my accounts, safe and sound. Some of that got converted into silver and later gold. Most of my SS benefits
      were not needed for living expenses, so I converted that into silver and gold. It's been a good ride but I'm at the point in life where I can relax and let the
      good times roll. If stocks do well, my accounts grow and I sell some and use the money for the stack. . If stocks do poorly, I hang onto them and don't sell
      any shares. Whatever stocks do, my PMs are my financial backstop and insurance. If I never need my PMs, they will be available to help my family live
      decently during most of the hard times that come along. Life is good. 🙂

      @@JFEnterprize Agreed. There's really nothing stopping the cheapening of the US$ and as its value declines, gold and silver prices WILL rise.
      I can see a time coming when the official spot price is too low to sustain mining. This will lead to a two tiered market for gold and silver. This is not the 1st
      time that this has happened. My mom had a friend who owned a jewelry store. He also made gold jewelry, so bought gold for this purpose. When the gold
      price was officially $35 per oz., he said that the best rice he could get was around $125 per oz. Something like that but much higher these days seems likely.

      @edb3877 10 месяцев назад +2

      Agreed. I have been buying some fractional gold coins lately. Yes, they do cost a little more per oz. but they also give me greater flexibility in selling.
      If we go into really bad / hyper inflation, I want the ability to sell less than an oz. at a time. I'll want just enough cash to pay whatever bills I have at the
      time with very little cash left to shrink away from nasty inflation. Most of my gold stack is in 1-oz. coins but I also have 1/4 oz. and 1/2 oz. coins.
      This combo should be pretty flexible. I will accept silver as change. 😀

    I like how the "Veteran" said that his dealer would not pay him spot and sold over spot to make money. That veteran just learned the big drawback to gold - the only person that makes money buying and selling gold is the gold dealer NOT the customer like the veteran. Gold is a very bad investment but it makes for a great hobby collecting it for fun. Gold also has some investment strategies if you are smart enough to know what they are and most people who buy gold have no clue what they are doing. If you buy gold as an investment you are one of two people, one is the gold dealer that sells the gold to make money and the other is a bad investor that is great at loosing money and making bad investments like buying gold. I love collecting gold and buying it as a hobby and a small part of investment strategies but I can only afford gold because my other investments have made lots of money and were made somewhere NOT linked to gold.

    Fun video! And I learned something I never knew about minting 1964 coins for a couple more years, and the reason for the 40% half dollars!
    A couple years ago I was in the local grocery store checkout line and there was a woman dumping coins in a CoinStar about 10 feet away. I could hear big silver hitting the reject tray. I bought 6 40% half dollars from her for $10. I explained to her why. It was better than the $3 she was expecting so she was happy. I got a good deal too.

Love hearing from customers in the shop. So wish I could visit Tim's more often but there ain't no way to get in and out during a lunch hour and the weekends get stolen by family priorities. Regarding 9:02, the reason why the United States Mint produced 40% Silver Clad coins was to give them an appearance of silver coins while also reducing the cost of making them. 40% Silver Clad coins do not have a homogeneous silver composition. Instead their composition is actually a laminate with an exterior 80% Silver veneer sandwich bonded over an inner core made of 21% silver. Similarly in 1982, the United States started to produce one cent coins with a composition of 97.5% Zinc covered by an exterior Copper veneer to give them an appearance of red cents while also reducing the cost of making them.

    When it comes to buying gold it is always about what the premium is on top. That said on multiple occasions I've found fractional ounces as cheap per ounce as the least costly gold rounds from reputable dealers. Too many people are paying hundreds and hundreds over spot to get fractional shares that will likely never appreciate above the price they paid.
