    Kobe Bryant always shines brightest among the stars, especially in his hometown.
    Bryant brought Showtime back to the All-Star Game, scoring 37 points and tying a record with his fourth MVP award, leading the Western Conference to a 148-143 victory over the East on Sunday night.
    "I feel like we have a sense of responsibility and we are voted in for what we do during the season, which is play hard," Bryant said. "And we come here, that's what the fans want to see. They want to see us go at it and see us compete and that's what I try to do and that's what I try to tell my teammates to do."
    Returning to the game he dominates after a one-year absence, Bryant added 14 rebounds in a spectacular performance in front of the usual celebrity-filled crowd that turns out to see his Lakers at Staples Center.
    "It feels great, being at home here and playing in front of the home crowd," Bryant said after receiving the MVP trophy. "This will be my last All-Star game in front of these home fans, so it feels good to do it."
    -Notes: for some reason, the mvp trophy presentation wasn't brodcasted for people in canada so i wasnt able to record it. A link to the trophy presentation will be at the end of the video.

    At this point in time, in 2011, Kobe had 5 chips. The OG on the court. Lebron had 0 rings, wade still had 1, Duncan had 4 , KG & them had 1, dirk had 0 but would eventually win that yr (2011). Rip Mamba! 🐍

    The sad thing is ppl forget how great kobe was in his prime. Lebron isn't even close...

      @genericallyaccepted 10 лет назад +34

      Those who watched him didn't forget. But to say LeBron isn't even close is pure ignorance. Kobe is the better player, but that's only because of his mentality. If LeBron wasn't so efficiency-oriented, he could be better. Because there is no question that LeBron has the better physical body. But I do think Kobe is the better player. I remember watching him, I know how great he was. Sometimes you became consumed by Kobe. You would watch him, you would try your best to learn from him. Its him and Michael at the top. Those are the two greatest individual talents the game has ever seen.

  • @dgreatll
    @dgreatll 11 лет назад +80

    That's what makes Kobe better than LeBron, he takes any game seriously he always gives 110% and thats exactly what the fans want. You don't think LeBron wants to prove he's better in the all star games? Im 100% sure he does and pretty sure he tries his best also, but regardless Kobe still schools him.

    Remember that Kobe scoring 37 back then when they still played good honest defense in the All-Star game would be the equivalent of scoring about 83 in today lack luster (for lack of a more harsher term such as FAKE) defense in todays All-Star games.

      Bryant and Durant back then was a naaaaastyyyyy collaboration: they would have been a nightmare for any opposition had they ever played together in those blockbuster deals that they seem to make all the time now in the NBA of today.

    MVP is a popularity contest. Not who is actually MVP. Kobe deserves at least 5 or 6 MVPs for what he's done with his team. Like this year, as an example, he single-handedly got his team to the finals. No MVP there! Or when Nash won the MVP, Kobe deserved it then too. You know what though? What really matters? Rings. That is what truly matters.
