Thanks for providing my daily farm fix 🤣. So much to think about when building a shed it’s just unreal. Layout, access, airflow, handling facilities, open areas, pen areas, feeding height, lighting, sockets, water, gate types, gale breaks, mucking out, cow brush. This a house build is more simple 🤣
Hey up bud you would be able to feed bales through a trailed straw chopper they have 2 speeds 1 for straw and 1 for silage. You defo need scrap passage the bedded area keeps cleaner, make the feed passage and the bedded area higher they will keep dry!! Good luck buddy 👍
Beans cheese and chilli on my tatty. Baxter is coming on well mate. He does have BIG boots to fill. I hope you are cutting the baler twine at the knots so you can reuse it ? Get video Mucker 👍👍👍👍
Hey Crawford. I’m a recent subscriber and just wanted to drop a comment to tell you how much I enjoy your channel. It’s awesome to see the similarities and differences in how farming is done in different places. I’m from the State of North Carolina in the USA. Retired but still love the farming life. You seem like a fine young man. God bless you and your family.
We put our unroller on an offset headstock for the jcb works well against a barrier not the best at putting it in a trough think they do extinction to kick it out a bit further for trough feeding
If you do choose a central feed passage in the new shed you could look at a trailed bedder than also handles bales of silage. That way once machine could do both and when you switch from ammonia straw to silage you might switch from racks to feeding at the rail.
Definitely know what you mean about how the supermarket influences consumer perceptions of everything farm fresh. Here in my psrt of the US it used to be chalk white eggs only due the housing facilities used which required smaller framed birds. Now with the changes in farm tech and new innovations on animal keeping we are seeing more brown eggs in the markets but still if it has a blemish it is not received well by anyoe who has never seen eggs from bird to table
Hi. Might want to consider the roofing materials. I’m sure you will have seen the clear sheets that have a tint in them. Fill the shed with natural light and look great for working in especially if you go for a covered handling system. Like I say sure you have seen this stuff. Seems big in Ireland. Pops up on my fb feed enough anyway. 👍
it would be hard to beat a tank more expensive but a great job. with a layback area for the cows to lay in. wouldn;t need to muck out as often. plenty of slurry less fertilizer. we keep simmental cattle what is your cousins simmental herds name
I feel with beef stock your better off without a feeder wagon as it ties up a tractor but with the correct attachments, the tele-handler can do most of it. Got to say your really manipulating us Crawford with all these views of Baxter, hes a real heart breaker 🙂, not that I am complaining lol.
If it aint perfect it aint no good I'd need an extra large loaf of bread a very good chef and about 3 dozen trays of your eggs I'd be happy Don't forget they mustn't have feathers or bird poop on them either
Highland cow was like one of those puzzles. But you got it free with sensible thinking.

Great video, the only thing to add to nice fluffy potatoes is lots of Irish Kerrygold butter, the best.

Are those blue hose pipes that you use with the cows? And what is that in the JCP over your left shoulder is it to break a window?

Is there anyone in South of the UK, close to Wales that would treat straw with ammonia?
Brilliant videos Crawford. 👍 👌
Not sure, call the local vet ask them who feeds ammonia straw
