  • Both of these wrenches are excellent, but I believe Midwest Industries comes out on top!

FYI the torque wrench should be set 90 degrees of set of the wrench. Otherwise you extend the arm of the lever and throw off the torque rating.

I know, I go over this on other videos and have have entire Playlist on alt tech on how to assemble an ar15 and demonstrate proper form and get into the nuances of armorer wrenches and now they should be positioned

Any mechanic knows a closed end wrench is stronger than an open ended wrench 3x larger, but I get your focus on ease, as the torque on your rifle should not be so large as to matter.

I agree with your points and assessment for the most part. I prefer the MI tool as well, but it's not as comfortable to hold as the Magpul tool when applying a significant amount of torque. Gloves would remedy that though, and it is sort of a non-issue considering how functional the tool is.

The magpul wrench is pretty darn comfortable

Midwest makes some really good products. Many are made in the USA too. I saw that this wrench is made of USA 4140 Steel too. I believe that is chrome moly. That is some very tough steel. I have had that ATI style wrench since I started with ARs. It works , but not that well. I am tired of it slipping and its not so great fitment. I am finally looking for a good one, and wanted to check out these new wrenches that have come out like the Magpul and Midwest. It looks like Midwest Industries wins this hands down. Thanks for doing this video comparison.

There is a problem about the length from your torque wrench to the end of your wrench. The longer the distance to your end, the more inaccuracy of your torque. The length of the wrench multiplies your torque value.

Best Comment Left, on an otherwise excellent review.

How thick is the muzzle device portion? I’ve had clearance issues installing an a2 can you confirm the thickness of the 3 options you have?

A dial indicator is a precision tool, a micrometer is a precision tool, a lathe is a precision tool. A Torque wrench is NOT a precision tool lol! Under the best of circumstances torque wrenches can be off even 5 pounds plus or minus. I’m sure you probably know that I just wanted to clarify.
Thanks for the video. M.I. For the win

I probably meant to say specialty tool, since these wrenches are specific to a certain firearm, I'd have to watch the video again, not sure I said armorers wrenches are precision tools haha
      M.I. is the GOAT
