    Thanks for sharing !
    Really good work... As usual may i say !!! ;)
    Ag and some contamination must be the add in final weight...
    But it's also why it's best to refine by yourself...

    Im so sorry if this is a stupid question. I am still very new to this and just found you can refine gold this way without chemical process which i plan to do, but would like to try this first. Anyway, would you be able to do the same with zinc instead of lead to leachch out the base metals and use some plaster as the cupl or using a regular sil crucible to pull out the base metals? Again, so sorry if this is a stupid question. I am willing to get the needed items, just wondering if i could use what i already have on hand. Thank you so much for sharing your videos amd showing everyone the process and how to. It is very much appreciated.

    • @OwlTech333
      @OwlTech333  4 года назад +2

      The question is not stupid. Plaster (gypsum) will not work as materiel for cupels(I've used cement, bone ash, magnesia, hydrated lime, heat treated limestone powder etc.) , zinc will form an alloy with some of the base metals, copper being the most troublesome for this process. The only substitute of lead that I know of is bismuth (when talking about cupellation). By cupellation you can remove only base metals, if as in this video you have AuAgCuZn alloy, after cupelling you'll be left with an AuAg alloy.

      It's lead to impurities ratio rather than pb:au, you must have enough lead to oxidize all base metals. If you have enough lead you can cupel gold filled although IMHO it's better to strip the gold in a lead bath.

      @OwlTech333 I had gold flakes from the auburn state park, and I was using lead as a collector metal. When I used silver, I could measure the amount of gold, but I assumed lead was more reactive. I think california gold is like 93% pure, that'd make sense because some flakes can be silver or copper, but I was going to try chapman flux and thinner, assuming the high gold purity was the problem. It obviously has quite a bit of lead in the button, but I was thinking a lack of impure gold was causing my problems with cupellation.

      a shallow, porous container in which gold or silver can be refined or assayed by melting with a blast of hot air which oxidizes lead or other base metals.

      @@OwlTech333 it finally started really pulling it in after while. Maybe I had too much in there? I had to change it a couple times. I meant to say lead oxide lol but after a while it started sucking it up. I thought I had quite a bit of gold, but didn't turn out that way. I started with quite a bit of raw material. It's an amazing process thanks for showing how to do it. It's crazy how much actual pure gold you're left with. It was about a gram. It's OK was still fun. I'm gonna try silver next. Bought a bunch of "junk" that came from a jeweler!

    know is this technique dangerous for your health? (breathe the smoke) and this technique does not need chemicals (nitric acid, etc.). The gold you get is 999.9% pure gold. thank you and good evening.

    • @OwlTech333
      @OwlTech333  4 месяца назад +1

      If you breath the smoke this could be one of there most dangerous techniques out there, just like inhaling acid fumes or falling into a volcano! So NEVER breath the smoke, inhale the fumes or step in the lava! For cupellation you don’t need acids, but you may need other chemicals like borax, Portland cement, sodium nitrite etc. The purity of the gold you get depends on the metals your gold is alloyed with if there are other PM in the alloy they will remain with the gold, if only base metals are present with the gold those skilled in the art can achieve 99+
