Alot of people don't really know just how versatile African music is, and particularly, South African music. I've been seeing more recently that alot of people are chasing views because they are getting exposed to the newer smash hit genre in amapiano on social media, and are making videos to follow trends. However, they really aren't cultured. There is also S.A. house, kwaito, gqom, African country music, and many other sounds and genres. No I am not from S.A . Yes, I am a brother from the U.S. but I try to stay as cultured and ten toes down to the roots as I can be. Our cultures are so diverse, deep and beautiful across the diaspora, just like our people. This is a good channel that shows just that, by portraying reactions from various people from different regions✊🏾. At the end of the day though, as a person of Afrocentric descent, when you hear the sounds, no matter the language you feel it deep down. It's soulful, there's a spiritual connection. Adding this track to the playlist. #wearenotamonolithicpeople

@@playhawttt Yeah, you rock! Also, it was winter in SA and the cape is from a famous SA brand called Maxhosa (look em up - that Xhosa print is their signature). As everyone has said, the song has no language, it's just dancing with your soul, which is what SA house is all about actually, always has been. Also, this song literally only officially got released a week ago or something, so most of the people at this party had never heard this song before, they just vibed with the song, like you are doing!

Zakes explains that the lyrics are in 'tongues', there's no official earth language. The song was born out of spirit. He tried to find syllables in known languages to match it but could not. Whatever feeling the music brings out in you, that is what the lyrics mean.

Was listening to his interview earlier. He says when they were working on the beat it felt spiritual so he figured he wouldn't ruin that spiritual element for the listener . So the genius decided to invent a language for the song, so the song means whatever you feel in your soul. The only real words are Makeba, Fela Kuti and Angola. How powerful! Thanks for enjoying our music. Love

It isn’t any language. And does not have a message. Zakes and Kasango made the song so that the lyrics are not a language and open to interpretation. They do however mention two people and two places in Africa. Makeba, Fela Kuti, Angola and Lilongwe. The track also didn’t have a title for a long time. Osama as the track title happened well after. But Osama means lion. So Zakes mentions in interviews that you can interpret the song and lyrics in anyway and the track is meant to bring out the lion in you.
