People like to characterise Danzo as purely self-interested, but he's fully committed to the will of fire. Even his name is a pun on "I did it for the villiage".
People act like he'd do anything to be Hokage, but he passed on the opportunity when choosing the 4th was on the table.

Danzou literally just insulted Sarutobi knowing that Sarutobi would spare his life if he found out the truth, which was clearly apparent. The ultimate form of disrespect.
It irks me that even after his friend tried to kill him, Hiruzen still didn’t put him in prison instead he gave him half his power as hokage. I’ll never understand Hiruzen’s choices as a Kage, father or a person.

Nah he was going with Shisui's plan but Danzo used Izanagi on the unsuspecting shisui and took his eye so he could no longer perform the jutsu. He gave his other eye to Itachi before dying

The whole lore surrounding Danzo made no sense to me. It makes no sense that the hokage would let somebody who has a long-standing history of treasonous behavior control the anbu. Danzo was such a blunder on Kishi's part

@liv7980 This is a filler arc, it wasn’t in the manga so it isn’t canon. It’s basically fanfic. A lot of these fillers get the characters wrong and this subplot in particular makes no sense.
