I am seriously considering this car and I think the price point on paper is off putting but when you compare lease prices it’s really quite affordable in comparison to those you mentioned. A base Model 3, Sport spec Q4 E-tron, Mach-e etc etc are all well over £100 per month more to lease based on a 3 year lease. You can get an ID3 for less but the specification and quality inside is poor in comparison. An ID4 can be had for £10-20 per month more than the UX300e which is a lovely looking car but that’s in the base “Life” speciation which is again really poor. I have read that Lexus offer great lease costs because the majority of buyers lease their vehicles and I think this is something to be considered when reviewing cars. Great review! 👍🏼
P.S I currently drive a VW Tiguan R Line which is a beautiful spec car so naturally I am looking for something with similar toys and safety features but a car that is less thirsty! My previous car to the Tiguan was a V60 PHEV (diesel) which was excellent and I have looked at the Cupra Formentor PHEV but I’m itching to go fully electric.
Why is the front "engine bay" so big and no Frunk, is it full of batteries?? No wonder there's no legroom in the back! This is €60k, for €10K cheaper the EV6 will slay this!!
Thanks for a very honest review. Lexus exterior design has been a mess for several years now, too many corners. The interior isn't much better. The charging options are strange. The Merc, Audi or Tesla would be a choice before it.
Thanks Philip. The design is divisive. I don't mind it but some detest it. Competition will definitely be tough for it and trying to hit sales numbers.
What were they thinking? A brand new release car with chademo that's only 35kw?! This makes no sense, even six years ago that would have been unimpressive.
What the frunk are Toyota at? Ireland has one of the lowest EV adoption rates in Europe thanks to Toyota. Their first EV, Lexus brand, is pathetic from an EV perspective - Chademo at 30kw/h - "fail". Thanks for comprehensive review.
And Im still receiving Adds on Facebook despite trying to Block them " You Wont have Range Anxiety with a Toyota Hybrid " Just shows where their focus is. No chance of a desirable EV once theyre still selling Hybrids.
CHAdeMO on one side and CCS on the other seems strange and nonsensical. I’m not a fan of the giant front Lexus grill.. small trunk also.. as an EV, it shouldn’t need such a long front end, a more cab forward design would have allowed a bigger trunk. Interior seems very nice, and great Lexus build quality notwithstanding, this seems like an underwhelming effort by Lexus, especially at that price point. They have basically shoehorned an electric power train into a gas car. Hoping Lexus will do better in the future.
@@NevoEVReviewIreland - totally agree, but I would expect faster charging from a luxury brand like Lexus and especially at that price point. As you pointed out this is nothing more than a first attempt on their part. In my opinion - Toyota is losing a lot of credibility in the EV space w/ their trysts w/ hydrogen and fascination w/ hybrids.. they should just do something like team up w/ Magna, or someone else and leapfrog straight into 800 V, and put out a more compelling vehicle.
It almost seems like it's been spec'd up to disuade people from buying it. At that money I don't see why you wouldn't buy the Mercedes EQA instead. That's also based on a fossil car, but it seems Mercedes at least put some effort in.
Good review. CHAdeMO and poor range are this cars achilles heels. Sales will be handicapped by lack of CCS and awful range. The new expanding DC charging network is CCS. CHAdeMO is the past being phased out, CCS is EU standard. Like the seat upholstery. Only 6.6kw AC smells of 'Leaf's' reputation in the BEV market. Similarly very poor range due to small battery, only 305km range is ridiculous for a €56k cross over. In this day and age 400-500km is the new minimum. Have japanese manufacturers learnt nothing from the 'Leaf'? They've effectively limited to a city car. Can't pack the family in that and drive out west.
An awful attempt by Lexus ( Toyota) at creating their first EV. It wouldn't give you much confidence in their ability in the future to produce a desirable EV. It seems theyve almost deliberately produced a really poor and expensive , Compliant EV. When you see their Adds in Ireland " No Range Anxiety " with their Hybrids you can see where their focus is. Dont expect to see many of these on the roads.
Thanks for the comment IrishCockneyViking. It's looks are dividing opinion alright. You're correct, the Model S has electrically adjustable steering wheel. Thank you, I'd forgotten.
What do you think of the Lexus UX300e? Leave a comment below...
A great honest review 👍👍
Glad you liked it Ronan and thanks for the comment

Thanks for the feedback. It's a very well spec'd car and it sounds like you have a good lease price sourced.
Loving the green colour!
It's very green, I probably need to warn people

Thanks for the comment Mervyn, it's going to have some tough competition alright and no idea why they didn't fit a frunk.

Thanks for your comment Pete's Shredder. Your guess is as good as mine....
Beautiful car.
Thanks John. Some really don't like it.
Air suspension I presume?
Nope, regular suspension but beefed up with dampeners especially for the extra battery weight

Thanks Eamon. It's a strange one alright. Hope the future ones will be better!

All a bit strange alright. Next time around should be better hopefully is right
@@NevoEVReviewIreland - I also don’t understand the anemic charge speeds. The Renault Zoe AC charges at 22 kW does it not?
Exactly but not too many would have that level of standard AC. Usually around 7kW and sometimes 11kW.

15k more expensive over the hybrid one where the Merc siblings in the GLA and EQA are nearly the same price. So strange.

A lot of valid points there Noel. Unfortunate and as always I hope for a better effort next time

Thanks for the comment Stephen. It's a head scratcher alright. Hoping for better things next time around.
The grille is just awful! Horrible exterior. The interior seems OK but terribly dated. Model S has the same steering wheel adjustment.
