      Now here's a little tidbit for you that you probably didn't know back in the 1950s there was a magnetic toy game that allowed you to pull metal shavings from the bottom of a card that you could then manipulate with your magnetic pencil and manipulate these shards of metal on to a face that was actually Billy corgan's great-grandfather and you really could put some hairdos on Bartholomew Corrigan!

      Really is a great album. Sort of my introduction to the Pumpkins, although I may have heard and liked Today before that... knew very little about them until my sister brought home the Adore album. Not too long after I got into Mellon Collie (etc)... and just recently bought their Siamese Dream CD. Working my way back, but instead of Gish, I might go forward... anxious to get to some newer stuff. (I do know and like some Gish from Rotten Apples... had a burned copy of that too as teenager.) OK I'm done, bye! lol

    I remember this interview- very well done and researched. I remember wondering where Dave Fanning was at the time, seeing he normally interviewed Billy, or anybody when they were in town. Adore's lush, laid back melancholia and electronica didnt initially connect with me at time, even though of course Mellon Collie had lots of touches of it beforehand. But years later, Adore really connected with me. I love when that happens with albums, taking time to reach you like that. I was at the Dublin gig in 96 that is brought up at the end here. Tom's approach is meaningful and totally sound and respectful,with Billy's hindsights and reflections being deep and thoughtful.

    • @tparker2095
      @tparker2095 5 лет назад +6

      No they didn't. Jimmy came back and he scrapped the "new" smashing pumpkins, so it would just be Billy, Jimmy, Darcy, and James. They toured shortly in 1999 for the "Arising" tour and then Darcy left.

    • @ngkktht774
      @ngkktht774 5 лет назад +2

      @@tparker2095 "darcy left" isn't accurate. "After the KISS shows in LA, Billy and James came over to my apartment and told me they would give me three months off. I was in LA trying to do some movie stuff, but the Mickey Rourke movie never panned out. I tried to get a hold of Melissa for that, they wanted her, and I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll give her a call.’. She wouldn’t answer my call, and this was right after Billy and James had told me they were giving me three months off. Billy had already spoken to Melissa, because there was no reason she wouldn’t call me back.
      When Billy found out I was working towards doing a movie, he was furious, and had someone call me. They said, ‘Billy thinks that if you’re well enough to do a movie, you should be well enough to be in the studio. So you have to come back.’ I said, ‘Tell Billy to call me himself then.’ Billy would never call me himself; he would always have somebody else call me....
