Baker has had issues, and I've never been a fan, but the way the video shades his release from Carolina was dirty. He had taken on his role as backup with grace and was by all accounts a great teammate. It wasn't remotely along the lines of "they didn't even want him in the building he was so bad." They released him as a favor. There were suddenly some very QB needy teams like the 49ers (worked okay for them) and the Rams.
Right...That's why literally no team in the league except for one put in a waiver claim for him…👍👍👍 sure thing. So the Panthers getting rid of him? What did "every NFL team" say about that?
Im an OU fan so seeing him be the first part of history and entering the nfl was amazing, and then since im a rams fan, seeing him play for the rams was amazing, and now hes not doing too bad with the bucs.

Lol he played more of the same like he did in Carolina. That first game with the Rams the other team didn't have time to prepare against and his attitude is indeed a problem he literally disrespected the whole Carolina fan base
Baker will win a Superbowl ring before Watson will. Baker will have a career like Foles. Season injuries.. feeling hopeless.. but then bam, the good nature of Baker and his love for the game will captivate his first Superbowl ring. I hope he lands in Arizona. I think he would be a great fit for the city AND the revival of an injured player with much love for the game will suit him well there.
So many amazing college QBs go downhill quick in NFL. I can think of 2 from top of my head: Vince Young and Matt Leinart. Can anyone else add to this list?
I don’t like how you didn’t bring up that the panthers and him agreed to part ways because if he played more snaps they would have to send a higher round pick to Cleveland. The panthers agreed to let him walk so that he can play for a different team instead of sitting on the bench
You didn’t do your research, Browns released OBJ and he got to choose what team he went to and After Baker was signed to the Rams sources came out and confirmed that since he was benched he asked to get released in Carolina
I was in Vegas the night he came in Browns vs Jets halfway thru and led the browns back to win the game.. I knew if he came in he would win.. he was replacing Tyrod Taylor at the time, and I had bet money on the Jets, long story short I lost my bet and I thought I witnessed a star in the making.. really s shame.. have no idea how they went 11-5 then got rid of him .. wtf happened

I'm a Browns fan and been one waaaaaaàaaaaayyy before baker was thought of. I never TRUELY embrace Baker. And that's from his attitude that he was already accomplished and I seen the small things that kept him slightly from being Great. I never knew how far he'd came and his underdog story. He's not the guy for me. I'd take him as a backup all day. But I do respect the hell outta this man for being an inspiration to ppl that hard work and the impossible can be done
Now he's with the bucs and this is most likely his last chance because right now it could be a big season if he doesn't shake it off so good luck to Baker Mayfield.
The thing is, obj’s dad got just what he wanted. His son got a super bowl ring. But the funniest thing is that baker ended up getting traded to the rams too
He had no consistency to help him develop. Went from Hue to kitchens to Stephanski. Also 4 offensive coordinators. Then gets shipped off to Matt Rule then had Sean Mcvay which I think would have worked out if they kept him. So far he is 2-0 in Tampa. I hope him nothing but success.
I don't love or hate Mayfield - keep that in mind when I ask why you didn't include the heroic performance he gave the same week the Rams picked him up and he went into the game off the bench with only 1:41 left on the clock on their OWN 2 yard line - and they end up driving down the field ending in a come from behind game winning touchdown pass? Pretty amazing story.
Cleveland fans shouldn’t hate on him. He did everything he could to help them win a Super Bowl. One man can’t do everything in 2-3 years to win a Super Bowl.
As a non football fan hearing this, basically he was great until he was hurt, and because he was hurt he wasn’t as good(duh) and they decided that he was just terrible suddenly? That’s fucked up
Idk why people think he’s complete trash, sure he’s not Tom Brady but he’s definitely a solid QB. I he had a team that believes in him and can work to his strengths then I think he can be very successful
It's still hard to believe Rams wasn't final destination for Baker and his saga makes another up and potential down in Tampa next year. I wish the guy best. He's premium game manager and could win SB with right roster.
I'll always be disappointed with how his time in Cleveland ended. As a lifelong Browns fan that was born in 1996, I've never seen success and after 1-31 drought, he helped bring some success to the franchise. People say we could've had other QBs at the time, who knows if they would've actually lived up to the expectations. I still think Baker did. None of the QBs in that draft had to take on a harder role than him. Was he the best QB in those four years? Totally not, but who knows what would've happened if he hadn't gotten injured in 2021. While I don't think he'll be a starter in the NFL, I do think he has talent to be a backup in the NFL somewhere. Always gonna appreciate what he did in Cleveland and any Browns fan who doesn't isn't a true Browns fan in my opinion. His first game against the Jets and his playoff win against the Steelers will be games I'll remember for the rest of my life as a Browns fan.
Low key I miss him his arm talent is unreal and he was injured but I think the browns should of stayed with him he’s much younger and has good arm better than tua but yea
I actually delivered some freight to this guy's house. I didn't know who he was till he signed my paperwork. He came across as a pretty down to earth dude.
As a Steelers fan, I hated this guy respectfully, he brought the Browns up for some actual competition when the teams played each other and it was fun to watch. I felt so bad when I heard they were replacing him with Watson. Hope the best for him with the Rams.
.We got a better Qb .We beat him when he played with the panthers (showing we were just as good if not better without him) .He hasn’t played great in any other teams either
I honestly believe that the signing of obj hurt the browns and mayfield. It made them try to force feed the ball to obj rather than utilize his presence on the field as a distraction and let other targets eat like Jarvis, njoku, and Higgins (who had a great connection with mayfield but was underutilized in the offense)
The way the Browns just gave up on Baker for fucking Deshaun Watson was so disrespectful. He brought them their first taste of success and the minute he underperformed (while playing through injuries), they thought they were too good for him and dumped him. I never much cared for the guy, but that’s shit.
@@Modeek6 Watson has played far worse than baker ever had so far, has raped 20 women, and is getting paid three times as much, not to mention we lost first rounders for him. As a Browns fan I didn’t think it was obvious he’d go 1 since a ton of people were clamoring for Sam Darnold, but I hopped on board and 2018 was the most fun I had as a Browns fan. I still love Baker and I hope he does well the rest of the way
2020 was better
@@gavinlive6565 like on paper yes, Browns made the playoffs and won a playoff game which was lit, but 2018 was the first time in 4 years we saw good football and I think of that time so fondly because it was a breath of fresh air and such a change of pace
Video gonna need an update. The rise and fall, and rise again, and fall again, and rise again again of Baker Mayfield
This aged well
Baker has had issues, and I've never been a fan, but the way the video shades his release from Carolina was dirty. He had taken on his role as backup with grace and was by all accounts a great teammate. It wasn't remotely along the lines of "they didn't even want him in the building he was so bad." They released him as a favor. There were suddenly some very QB needy teams like the 49ers (worked okay for them) and the Rams.
You should revisit this video with Mayfield in Buccaneers
👇people watching this after mayfeild one vs eagles
Can't believe Cleveland let him go after what he did.
'Well, that's Cleveland!' -Every NFL team
Right...That's why literally no team in the league except for one put in a waiver claim for him…👍👍👍 sure thing. So the Panthers getting rid of him? What did "every NFL team" say about that?
This might, might not age well. Plenty of football left but baker is playing solid with the Bucs atm.
And rise again. Go Bucs 🏴☠️
Im an OU fan so seeing him be the first part of history and entering the nfl was amazing, and then since im a rams fan, seeing him play for the rams was amazing, and now hes not doing too bad with the bucs.
He was killing it on the rams though had some consistent decent games
He's shown he can still do it, especially with a massively injured roster. The issue is whether they keep him when Stafford returns
@@quetzalcoathey will, Stafford is close to retiring and he’s a good backup/bridge qb at the moment, if he proves he’s a starter and gets his attitude together he can win
@@bubbaisweird His attitude isnt an issue i think. He wants to win, thats all. He's just loud and vocal about it and is a bit of a character and thats seen as weird in the league for a qb to be so... aggressive. You stick him in any sports league outside the US and have the exact same attitude as any other player
@@quetzalcoa They will especially knowing Mathew is older and has problems with his shoulders.
Lol he played more of the same like he did in Carolina. That first game with the Rams the other team didn't have time to prepare against and his attitude is indeed a problem he literally disrespected the whole Carolina fan base
Love your video, man
Being short in the NFL ain't no joke.😳
baker is actually doing pretty decent in tampa
And rise again.
Not even close to foles
Could you do one on Josh Rosen?
10:48
Meanwhile Watson
2022: 6 GAMES, 1,102 YDS, 7 TD, 5 INT
2023: 6 GAMES, 1,115 YDS, 7 TD, 4 INT
D:
So many amazing college QBs go downhill quick in NFL.
I can think of 2 from top of my head: Vince Young and Matt Leinart.
Can anyone else add to this list?
Tim Tebow
Danny Wuerffel
Rex Grossman
LOL
Fisher never wanted VY. He wanted Leinart. VY was sabotaged.
Zach Wilson
Ryan Leaf
Johnny Manziel
Josh Rosen
I thank Baker for what he did and tried to do in Cleveland.
I don’t like how you didn’t bring up that the panthers and him agreed to part ways because if he played more snaps they would have to send a higher round pick to Cleveland. The panthers agreed to let him walk so that he can play for a different team instead of sitting on the bench
IKR!
the man who ended skip bayless and shannon sharp's relationship
I mean, his time with the browns was more the organizations fault and not his own
1. He didn't beat out Darnold; staff wanted to see what they could do with him instead and 2. He asked to be released after seeing he would be QB2.
There are 32 starting spots and 32 backup spots in the NFL. Baker is best served in the backup role and could have a long career there.
remake this video
You didn’t do your research, Browns released OBJ and he got to choose what team he went to and After Baker was signed to the Rams sources came out and confirmed that since he was benched he asked to get released in Carolina
I was in Vegas the night he came in Browns vs Jets halfway thru and led the browns back to win the game.. I knew if he came in he would win.. he was replacing Tyrod Taylor at the time, and I had bet money on the Jets, long story short I lost my bet and I thought I witnessed a star in the making.. really s shame.. have no idea how they went 11-5 then got rid of him .. wtf happened
i was born in Cle and lived their many years. The curse is real, its the people living there... For the 3rd year in a row Cle ranked in the top 3 for most unhappy cities in the USA... the metrics used for the study were Murder, Suicide & Divorce.
What the fuck are you talking about? When did either of the quarterbacks you mentioned go 13-3?
@@owexsolo the Mandela affect is a pretty wild thing
Gotta make a new video “the rise and fall and rise again”
I think he is still decent
I'm a Browns fan and been one waaaaaaàaaaaayyy before baker was thought of. I never TRUELY embrace Baker. And that's from his attitude that he was already accomplished and I seen the small things that kept him slightly from being Great. I never knew how far he'd came and his underdog story. He's not the guy for me. I'd take him as a backup all day. But I do respect the hell outta this man for being an inspiration to ppl that hard work and the impossible can be done
He’s fine. Hard to bag on Carolina and Los Angeles when u legit get not time to play with an entirely new team. Hard for anyone to be successful
Now he's with the bucs and this is most likely his last chance because right now it could be a big season if he doesn't shake it off so good luck to Baker Mayfield.
you forgot the part where he wins the superbowl with the Rams
Gonna need to make an update. Bad final throw but he balled out
Gotta love this kid for the belief he has in himself. I think he's done as far as the NFL goes, but he had a great run.
I loved baker on the rams hopefully some teams sings him
He will be signed as a backup!😆
well this video definitely needs an update lol
The thing is, obj’s dad got just what he wanted. His son got a super bowl ring. But the funniest thing is that baker ended up getting traded to the rams too
People don’t realize how stacked the browns briefly were and just how historically bad Baker was to prevent their offense from being elite.
Yeah Watson sure did make that offense elite when he came back.
I think all that shit was hilarious because all those Baker Mayfield d riders were basically fitting him for his HOF jacket after that first start.
@@SyndicateSuperman Same for the Watson d riders who thought he was the real deal 🤣
@@Jmisaprodriver Watson being bad doesn't mean that Baker wasn't as well lol.
@@Jmisaprodriver lmao ty
That’s fucked up
Thats the typical myopic Browns fan. I am not one. I am an analytical Browns fan
Need to update this video now!😂
How is he on a downfall now? Yeah everything with the panthers was bad, but it looks like there is something for him with the Rams. Just a thought.
NOW HES BACK 😊
Idk why people think he’s complete trash, sure he’s not Tom Brady but he’s definitely a solid QB. I he had a team that believes in him and can work to his strengths then I think he can be very successful
Because he is a spoiled immature teenager.
In his defense, I strongly believe he could still snag that high school QB1 position.
It's still hard to believe Rams wasn't final destination for Baker and his saga makes another up and potential down in Tampa next year. I wish the guy best. He's premium game manager and could win SB with right roster.
Let’s go
He's doing good again with tampa :) 3-1 start to the season
Isn’t it weird how Baker Mayfield got traded to the rams and Odell Beckham got traded a year prior
Beckham got cut. Not traded to LA.
Baker wasn't traded to LA. He was released by Carolina.
Tua > Baker
I actually delivered some freight to this guy's house. I didn't know who he was till he signed my paperwork. He came across as a pretty down to earth dude.
really his dad was crying on social media thats real manly beckham family
OBJ’s career has sky rocketed…
As a Steelers fan, I hated this guy respectfully, he brought the Browns up for some actual competition when the teams played each other and it was fun to watch. I felt so bad when I heard they were replacing him with Watson. Hope the best for him with the Rams.
Obj hasn't done anything in years
The Browns did Baker dirty and I will die on this hill.
You don’t know much.
.We got a better Qb
.We beat him when he played with the panthers (showing we were just as good if not better without him)
.He hasn’t played great in any other teams either
I honestly believe that the signing of obj hurt the browns and mayfield. It made them try to force feed the ball to obj rather than utilize his presence on the field as a distraction and let other targets eat like Jarvis, njoku, and Higgins (who had a great connection with mayfield but was underutilized in the offense)
Football is the last sport that still believes that one or two players will make a championship team. That’s simply not true.
The way the Browns just gave up on Baker for fucking Deshaun Watson was so disrespectful. He brought them their first taste of success and the minute he underperformed (while playing through injuries), they thought they were too good for him and dumped him. I never much cared for the guy, but that’s shit.
I mean its a no brainer. Watson is way better than baker🤣🤣.
No. Baker got two coaches fired and got a top receiver cut, who ended up with a Superbowl. That's his fault.
@@saj8 GOAT COMMENT!!!!
@@Modeek6 Watson has played far worse than baker ever had so far, has raped 20 women, and is getting paid three times as much, not to mention we lost first rounders for him. Watson is trash and isn’t who he use to be at all. Getting paid that much money you shouldn’t need half a season to warm up and just be kinda shit instead of complete shit.
@@saj8 what coach did baker get fired? Also why is Stefanski’s only good season coaching with baker being healthy? Not to mention the browns should just cut every receiver right now, because so far watsons favorite receiver is either the grass or the other team, I can’t tell which is his number one option yet
The guy was more interested in being an infomercial star. He started promoting his brand in college. A better than average QB at times, but nothing more.
Time to make a new video bud call it “the rise and fall and the rise again of baker mayfield”
Updated Baker vid?
